That's not fair, is it? I mean, Celine sang the song. If it was a singer who couldn't bring any emotions to the song and make it come to life, then the written song alone couldn't be successfull. I think the singer should get some credit too.

 

Such are the rules... I don't make 'em.

 

The award goes to the songwriters but even though they don't say it. The singers are included on that award since she's part of it. No wonder it's included in her website under AWARDS section

Further, "No more than two statuettes will normally be given in the Original Song category. A third statuette may be awarded when there are three essentially equal writers of a song." (Per Academy rules & regs: https://www.oscars.org/sites/oscars/files/92aa_rules.pdf)

 

She's not, as you say "included on the award". The makers of Celine's website claiming it doesn't make it so.

Not sure what you mean "Oscar" version for singers. Depends what genre you're talking about, clearly. And Oscars are obviously a local award show (with this year being a welcome, historic change, mind you!); most major territories have their own, for both film music.

 

As for the Grammys, it all depends on the category (e.g. "Best Song" award goes to the songwriter(s), "Record of the Year" to the performer - the difference being one's for the composition, one's for the master). But for performers there are clearly many genre specific categories (pop vocal, jazz vocal, etc.)

Since singers can’t win an award in Oscars while on Grammys, they can win an award under “Record Of The Year” and many more categories that the singer can get so i will say the oscars for the singers is the Grammys.

 

Oscars = awards in the film industry

Grammys = awards for the music industry

Water From the Moon is indeed a good song. Quite delicate, and not too "typical" in the melody IMO

I feel Celine could be one of the only artists to get two songs onto the album, but I suppose that's really unlikely given how these types of albums go. Does Diane write many duets?

Look at Celine's necklace!!! Mon dieu. Reminds me of that jaguar (?) ring she wore on Ellen 2007..

 

And her dress looks like the same fabric (leather?) from 2015 BBMAs...

Not leather. Leather wouldn’t wrinkle like that around her bodice (and I cannot imagine the agony of slipping into/out of tight sleeves like that!). Looks to me like a shiny, synthetic fabric.

So the album is called the Cave Sessions, Vol 1

 

The Cave Sessions Vol. 1 will feature Warren teaming with John Legend, Celine Dion, Mary J. Blige, Jason Derulo, Ty Dolla $ign, Jhené Aiko, LP, and Darius Rucker, who joins her for lead single “Times Like This” (not the Foo Fighters song). Will be out in early 2021.

Was hoping there'd be other artists I like a lot on the Diane Warren album, but looks like I'll be getting it purely for the Céline song. No one else mentioned so far is particularly interesting to me.
