Black Kitten Posted April 26, 2008 at 08:02 AM Posted April 26, 2008 at 08:02 AM i guess it was confirmed by Warner Music already. Hard Candy will be Madge's last studio album with them, and to cover the contract, she will release a Greatest Hits album by late 2008 or early 2009. Quote

GoldenLeaf Posted April 26, 2008 at 06:26 PM Posted April 26, 2008 at 06:26 PM Madonna is also supposed to release a DVDs set featuring all her music videos from 1982 to 2008 by the end of this year or early 2009. Quote
Ray Posted April 26, 2008 at 07:35 PM Posted April 26, 2008 at 07:35 PM I thought Hard Candy was the first album by that new label No, it's the last new studio album for Warner. Later this year Warner will celebrate Madonna's 50th birthday and it being 25 years ago since her first album by releasing several items. One of them being a Greatest Hits. I wonder if this (as it's the follow up to GHV2) will only contain hits from "American life", "Confessions on a dancefloor" and "Hard Candy" or that it will also include some older hits, which were left of the first two (like True Blue, Who's That Girl, American Pie and others) or maybe even one or two new songs. (Which I doubt as it seems logical that there will still be new singles from "Hard Candy" this fall.) Maybe it will be a special box set with ALL the hits and for the FIRST time containing all the 7" single versions (as some of those have never been released on cd, like True Blue, Holiday, Open your heart, Express yourself...) Then there is the DVD set, which there are rumours about. I'm hoping for a release of the Blond Ambition and Re-Invention Tour. But of course a DVD set with ALL videoclips would be a true gem too. I guess, we will just have to wait and see. I'm waiting... come on! Quote Céline Dion Mariah Carey Madonna Lara Fabian Debbie Gibson Wilson Phillips Linda Eder Tina Arena Martika

mirage Posted April 29, 2008 at 09:39 PM Posted April 29, 2008 at 09:39 PM i bought it today... listened to it a few times, it has to grow on me...but i think it's a whole B-side confessions cd... Miles Away, Devil Wouldn't Recognize Me, Voices are the ones that stand out most for me... some songs i like the lyrics... but what i dont get is all the hype she is getting... AGAIN...in a newspaper they had interviews with radio DJ's about this new album... why!?Its everywhere in the stores... It's all getting hyped up... and the thing is, it works... Just the fact that Taking Chances was a little hype before it was released, but after 1 month everybody forgot she had a new cd out... i dont get it, i dont like it Quote

GoldenLeaf Posted May 1, 2008 at 07:52 PM Posted May 1, 2008 at 07:52 PM (edited) First Day Sales Put Madonna On Track For 7th No. 1 Billboard's "Hard Candy" Review Mariah, Madonna Make Billboard Chart historyApril 30, 2008, 6:40 PM ETKeith Caulfield, L.A.Madonna is on track to net her seventh No. 1 album on next week's Billboard 200 with "Hard Candy," based on first-day sales measured by the Nielsen SoundScan Building Chart released Wednesday afternoon (April 30). Unweighted sales for the Warner Bros. album from the Building Chart's panel of reporters through the close of business Tuesday, April 29, stood at 100,000. Among all female artists, only Barbra Streisand has earned more No. 1s -- with eight. Currently, Madonna, Mariah Carey and Janet Jackson are all tied for the second most, with six apiece. Late last year, Chris Brown's "Exclusive" posted a first day number of107,000 and finished the week with 294,000. However, sources close to the Madonna project indicate that with much of "Hard Candy's" first-day figure driven by iTunes sales, its full sales week could end up closer to the range of 225,000-250,000. Madonna's last studio effort, 2005's "Confessions on a Dance Floor," started at No. 1 with 350,000. Billboard estimates the merchants who report to Nielsen SoundScan's Building Chart -- Trans World Entertainment, Best Buy, Circuit City, iTunes, Starbucks,Borders, Target, Anderson Merchandisers, and Handleman Co. -- comprise about 80% of all U.S. Album sales. Leading the charge for "Hard Candy" is first single "4 Minutes," featuring Justin Timberlake, which peaked at No. 3 on The Billboard Hot 100 and spent two weeks at No. 1 on Hot Digital Songs. The download has sold 1 million copies to date, according to Nielsen SoundScan, including 185,000 for the week that ended April 27. Madonna first rang the Billboard 200's bell when "Like a Virgin" reached No. 1 in late 1984. Since then, she's claimed No. 1s with "True Blue" (1986), "Like a Prayer" (1989), "Music" (2000), "American Life" (2003) and "Confessions." She also owns a whopping five sets that peaked at No. 2 -- "I'm Breathless" (1990), "The Immaculate Collection" (1990), "Erotica" (1992), the soundtrack to "Evita" (1996) and "Ray of Light" (1998). On the Wednesday Building Chart, Lyfe Jennings' new "Lyfe Change" (Columbia) was in second place with 25,000. Other new titles appearing in that preliminary list's top 10 include the Roots' "Rising Down" (Def Jam), Portishead's "Third" (Mercury), Def Leppard's "Songs From the Sparkle Lounge" (Island/UMe), Augustana's "Can't Love, Can't Hurt" (Epic) and Mudcrutch's self-titled album (Reprise). VinnyT. Posted May 7, 2008 at 05:15 PM Posted May 7, 2008 at 05:15 PM Madonna's 'Candy' hits No. 1By JOHN WILLIAMSSenior Editor, JAM! Showbiz Madonna rules the charts again. Madonna's latest album had a sweet debut on the Canadian album charts this week. "Hard Candy," led by the hit single "4 Minutes" featuring Justin Timberlake, soared to No. 1 on sales of 58,000, according to Nielsen SoundScan data. It marks her fifth SoundScan era chart topper, and also becomes the biggest debut since Celine Dion's "Taking Chances" in November of 2007, which had the best retail week last year with 72,000 in sales. Madonna also snagged the top spot south of the border, selling a modest 280,000 copies of "Hard Candy" in the U.S. Back here, two more debuts came in near the top of the charts, with Sarah McLachlan's compilation "Rarities, B-Sides and Other Stuff Vol. 2" (10,000) at No. 2, and Portishead's "Third" (8,000) at No. 3. The movement up top forced Leona Lewis' "Spirit" down one spot to No. 4, Eric Lapointe's "Ma Peau" dropped from No. 1 to No. 5, and Ariane Moffatt's "Dans Tous Les Sens" fell from No. 2 to No. 6. Def Leppard's "Songs From the Sparkle Lounge" entered in at No. 7, Mariah Carey's "E=MC2" and Francis Cabrel's "Des Roses et Des Orties" both sank four notches to No. 8 and No. 9, respectively, and Jack Johnson's "Sleep Through the Static" hung on at No. 10. Other notable first week entries The Roots' "Rising Down" at No. 14, Mudcrutch's "Mudcrutch" at No. 25, Doc Walker's "Beautiful Life" at No. 32, and Estelle's "Shine" at No. 42. In the U.S., Mariah Carey fell to second, followed by Leona Lewis in third, Lyfe Jennings' "Lyfe Change" in fourth, and Def Leppard in fifth. VinnyT. Posted May 7, 2008 at 07:19 PM Posted May 7, 2008 at 07:19 PM (edited) after 280k sold in Usa in its first week DIAMOND IS A CHART’S BEST FRIEND Legend’s Rick Rubin-Produced Columbia Album Will Debut at #1 May 7, 2008 It’s been 42 years since Neil Diamond released his debut album in 1966, The Feel of Neil Diamond. The veteran singer-songwriter proves he’s still got the waist movement, Cherry, with his latest Columbia Records release, Home After Dark, produced by label creative chief Rick Rubin, set to debut at #1 next week for Steve Barnett and company with a one-week total of 125-130k. That number, which could go higher with Mother’s Day weekend sales, should be more than enough to beat out Madonna’s WB release, Hard Candy, which appears on tap for between 85-95k after one week on top. It’ll be the first chart-topping bow for Diamond in his four-decade-long career, based on one-day reports from all those music retailers recovered enough from Cinco de Mayo festivities to return our e-mails. Diamond's last album for the label, 2005’s 12 Songs, the first one produced by Rubin, saw its sales stunted by Andy Lack’s rootkit fiasco, though it recovered enough to eventually go gold.RCA American Idol alum Clay Aiken is On My Own Here, with loyal Claymates pushing his first-week sales total to 80-85k, just ahead of fellow J Records heart throb Gavin DeGraw’s self-titled sophomore album with 75-80k. Other chart newcomers include Show Dog Mercury country star Toby Keith’s 35 Biggest Hits, on target for 60-70k, followed by 143/Reprise pop crooner Josh Groban’s live CD/DVD package at 50-55k and a greatest hits compilation from Capitol Nashville’s latest Real Men of Genius subject Dierks Bentley at 30-35k.
