The "I Surrender" Showdown!

I voted for the live version. Like many of you, i disregarded the album version because i just couldn't get into the song. it had no connection to my life at that point. Then when my dad took me to Vegas to see Celine, I fell in love with it. I agree the album version is better than the live version, but when she sings it live, you don't get that awful fade out that the album has. you get this long note at the end followed by a scream that makes your jaw drop! I have always been a fan of celine, but i was floored once again by her awesome powerful voice. When my mom and i saw her just this past june, i looked at her when celine had finished this song and she gave me that wonderful HOLY SH*T look!!! Celine proved once again she has that spark and it's never going out!

I love love LOOOOVE the live version. It's so powerful, the long note & "yeah" in the end makes the song so much better. I liked the song when I first heard (ANDHC) it but I went totally nuts after seeing /hearing it LIVE. omg.

I always loved Celine's "I Surrender" album version since the 1st time I heard it!! I was very disappointed it wasn't released as a single for such a beautiful song, and one of her best I feel! I was so happy to find out the song was in Celine's Vegas show!! I always wanted her to sing her "Sorry For Love" remix version in her show, and was very surprised she chose "I Surrender"!! I absolutely love the Live version of "I Surrender", and especially the ending with the long note!! I don't like the album version's ending either, wish it would have the long note at the end like the Live version too!! I therefore love both versions but the Live version the best overall!!

live version...........by a long long way, great visuals, celine amazing and the dancers were out of this world.. all in all UNFORGETABLE. celine u rock my world......and so do all of u guys who love celine

i prefer the live version, coz its literally modified a little. and the way she performed it totally adds some 'feel' in it ...

but, like wht's mentioned by dhena, the 'shout' at the end does spoil it a little...

I pefer the album version. It has a bit more fire and energy and the different passages seem stronger emotionally to me. She really fires it up on the album. I am a bit dissapointed with the live version but I DO know that this is one difficult song to perform. Still I think A New Day...DVD is not the best version of the song. When I bought the cd I thought it was one of THE best songs on it, it's amazing. Then I went to Vegas and it was def THE highlight of the show - until she started doing River Deep, Mountain High. The audience goes nuts when she did I Surrender in Vegas - the staging, the dancers. the video, and of course Celine's huge vocals. It was a show stopper. It is the kinda of song that people expect from Celine but are still impressed after seeing it live.

I like the live version because of the effects on the big screen with the flames. But as I am supposed to be judging which version of the SONG I like, then I have to go with the album version.
