Celine Dion's Best Country Song

Of course the best country song of Celine is Retiens moi!

I would have to say that some of Celine's best "countryish" sounding songs are "Ne bouge pas," "Tout l'or des hommes," "Reteins-moi," "(Et) Je t'aime encore," and yes, "Your Light." If you listen to some of the current country songs these days "Your Light" fits in with the best of them.

I once made a country CD for my sister and threw in "Your Light" just to see if she would say something or even notice. Well, she didn't. LOL She's a big country music fan and the fact that she didn't even flinch when it played says quite a bit as to where country radio is these days.

I also think "Faith" has a hint of country flavor to it. It may not be traditional country, but it has a hint of Shaniaesque country that could work on the charts.

"To Love You More" could also have a country sound to it with the right "remix"/arrangement.

I agree with a previous poster that "A World To Believe" would do great on country radio as well.

That's just my two cents.

Yeah, "A World To Believe In", got some country influences....especially the beginning of the song ("takes me back home...takes me back home")..

Céline doesn't have any country sounds... GTSW is definatly NOT a country song and anything that might even come close to country is Faith -_-

Retiens-moi, Ne bouge pas...

Right Next to the Right One!!! That to me sounds VERY country!!!

Ne Bouge Pas, Retiens-moi, Je T'aime Encore, Valse Adieu ------- these are some of her best-ever songs, country or not. By the way, I've just rediscovered my liking for 1f4t. It's amazing. :kicking:

OMG! Read that "That's just the woman in me" (rockish/blues), "At last"(blues) and "Goodbye's"(AC) are country songs is VERY weird. Even "Right next to the right one"(folk music) isn't a country song! "Retiens-moi" is the most close song that she has of a country sound. And I LOVE THAT SONG!

Those Guys are so RIGHT !!! Very well said !

I need someone to loves m like Celine loved René... And just like she sang in LTAL track # 16, I ask for that exact same thing

I would say that the songs that come the closest to modern country are Faith, Naked, Ne bouge pas, Retiens-moi and maybe I have to dream. If Celine decides to do a concept album once more it would be great if it would be a country album, even better with a duet with Wynonna. Edited by charmedceline

I want Celine to do a dance album ala La Bouche, Cascada etc.

I'd say folk, not country.

I think y'all need to go listen to some more country music. If anything, Celine is country by way of Shania Twain, which is really just mostly pop.

I must have I made it clear right from the start**

However, one song that sounds very country to me and which i ABSOLUTLEY LOVE, is 'No Living Without Loving You'

OMG that track is so underrated!! I used to think it was a cover since it sounded such high quality... Imagine a remix or rearrenged version of that song with more attention to the "but babay!!"-parts..

mmmm although I don't doubt she could sing country. I would hate it if she did lol. There are country artist who can belt out tunes like Martina McBride..but I just don't think its the genre for Celine.

And knowing Celine...if she thinks she is singing country she will probably put some funky twang in her voice lol

Definitely. I'm not sure if it's country, but it's the closest Celine gets so I can't believe it hasn't been mentioned more in this thread.

I have only seen this song mentioned a few times in the forum and most people seem to dislike it or be indifferent to it.

I don't know why because it's a great song! In fact, I think I might go and listen to it right now...!

Living in Tennessee my entire life, born and raised here, and it being the country music capital of the world...I can tell you that Celine has not recorded any country songs. However, I do think she would deffinately do well at it! I mean come on, what CAN'T the woman do? I remember hearing here a LONGGGG time ago say something about she would like to try it one day...but it never came.

Even now day country (Faith, Martina, Tim Mcgraw, Brad Paisley etc...) isn't what OLD COUNTRY was. Look up Loretta Lynn, Tammy Wynette, Johnny Cash, June Carter, Patsy Cline...etc. THAT MY FRIENDS, is REAL country. Even though we have the fun, dancing, honky tonky music now...everyone still loves the old timey banjo porch pickin' music at the county fairs and state fairs.

"You can take the girl outta the country, but you can't take country outta the girl"...

"You know you're in love when you can't fall asleep, because reality is finally better than your dreams."

I don't consider GTSW a country song, however, I could see it rearranged into one. The lyrics are very country like. I really don't think anything she's done has been country...but I think many songs could be covered by country artists, in a country style, and sound really good.
