I just thought I'd see if there were some others on the forum who really remember the Mariah Carey that put her into the position she's in today.

 

Surely most of you remember the decent human being that America was in love with throughout the 90s. Here are some youtube links to help spark your memory.

In that interview, it's sad because she's almost at the crossroad between really becoming even more of a decent human being, and having a breakdown....and we all know that not too much longer after this interview, she had her breakdown(Rosie actually makes a comment about it).

Now don't get me wrong, folks. I haven't liked Mariah since the year 2000. Ever since the Glitter tragedy, she just hasn't redeemed herself for me. But the point of this topic is to remember that she was an impressive individual in the past--and I'd like see if there are any other people who can talk about her in a decent matter, and not be offended that there's a positive Mariah Carey topic on the Celine Dion forum.

I know! That's what's so interesting to me. This was SO close to her breakdown, but she seems more normal there than most interviews she's EVER done.

I like Butterfly, because it's one of her greatest albums. It's coherent, the songs fit together well.

 

MTV Unplugged, because I like the bare sound of the songs (and like unplugged stuff in general).

 

Mariah Carey, it was my tennage favourite album, because the easy, happy uptempo songs and the nice ballads.

 

Her albums after her Sony break-up I don't like at all. One reason is the whispering-like "singing"...if it can be called thet way.

She has/had talent, too bad she wasted it away. And lost her ability to be regarded as a serious artist...

I Love everything before Rainbow but i really enjoy Rainbow and The Emancipation Of Mimi her worst work is acourse Glitter and Charmbracelet but i love Through The Rain and Bringin On The Heartbreak though.

And the 2 songs David Foster did with her After Tonight and There For Me.

All Walter Afanasieff collaboration and Randy Jackson,s work.

I am not much fan of her hip hop songs but from her latest album i love We Belong Together the most. :innocent:

I read somewhere that she use to pay radio stations to play her song for good peak position on Billboard. So, what is the songs in question?

It's not Mariah, it was Sony. They pushed her hard since she was married to Tommy Mottola. Sony did that for Céline as well later on which didn't help her at all.
