No one is here to shoot you down. And Im sure it would be different if you said "hey check out my designs! Clari gave me some ideas for the layout" and then thank her for it. But your taking one hundred percent credit.

 

Yes absolutely there are trends. Im a designer myself. Have been for five years. When I follow someone tutorial I always say something along the lines of "Hey this is my new artwork...I followed Clari's tutorial"

 

Just give credit where credit is due. If you asked for her layout..tell people so stuff like this doesn't happen. When you take one hundred percent credit for something that was one hundred percent not your idea...people get mad. I am in no way saying you are not talented. But the simiularities are shocking. And if you simply said..I was going along the same lines as Clari because I loved the layout. Im sure it wouldn't be such a big deal.

 

Ive had my own forum. I liked some of the ideas from certain Celine forums. And I got permission to "copy" so to speak. As long as you make people aware..they can't say anything

 

I have been a member here for a long time just never posted. And only now that your kind of being called out have I seen thanks :/

i remember both sites from 2005, i use to be on them all the time, i particularly remember the celinesmiles one from back in 2005!

Erika i remember checking your site out aswell, the layout with Ready For Summer May - June 2006..

 

both sites are really good, but one thing i found with both is that the top banners were really big, and especially on slow connection (before broadband times!) use to take ages to load!

 

i agree with what erika's saying, being a web designer myself, you're gonna get sites that look similar, because the norm is that you see something you like it, and think "i want it" or "i like the way that works". No site is never gonna be original, because someone will see it and use that design idea in some way.

 

Both sites were brilliant, they were and still are easy to navigate, and find your way around, which for me is the most important thing. Alot of people get carried away making things look nice and fancy with pictures, flash etc, but at the end of the day, if the website takes ages to load, andit take me ages to find things, im gonna hit the 'Back' button and go somewhere else.

 

All Céline sites are practically the same anyway, all the same info, the only difference is that one may have a couple of extra pictures that another may not.

 

Erika and Clarisa, well done to both of you, I know how much work goes into makng a website for a music artist, and maintaining, ALOT of time and dedication is needed, I did it myself for 3-4years, so keep up with the great work you put in.

Well... There are some many fansites (not Celine's sites) that are almost the same, so I don't blame about it...

 

But I think your graphics are very dense, and almost the same style in all of them...

I know that I'm not the best "designer" to say that, but this is my point of view...

 

However, I'm with Bellamy, that both sites are really close each other...

This is more than just being inspired by one's work I think. I would call that plagiarism with a hint of alteration

If you can't see the problem than you need to get your head out of the sand. Jesus! Can't anyone have common sense here? It's blatantly obvious that one copied someone else. There lies the problem. There are a million different ways to make a wallpaper out of these 2 pictures but they were used in the exact same theme/format.
