Yes you should, I would never want to go back with a standard dvd player , Celine in Hd is the best!

Indeed she is.I got a sony Blu-ray in 2008 and love watching the A New Day live in Las Vegas Blu-ray disc on it.Can't wait to get the new Blu-ray discs.

:whee: what to do what to do. I know I shouldn't buy Blu-Ray because I would only watch Céline on it

Can I watch regular DVD's on a Blu-Ray player?

edit: yes it does.. just found out. But no way I'm buying one, way to expensive here in Iceland ugh

Hi.Yes you can but the Blu-ray also upgrades the quality of a normal dvd disc as well.

I wanted the BD of the concert to be released so badly! Now I can only hope for a miracle... maybe we could start a petition? :P

I'm in the same boat. I'd love to get a Blu-Ray, but I'd only use it for Céline. I'm a little more tempted if it does improve quality of regular DVDs, but it's still real expensive.

well. on a bluray disc you can have 25 gigabyte on information; so a complete movie without compression. That means sharper images, and even better sound. Most of the new dvdrecorders and dvdplayers have upscale to 1080i via hdmi. My dvdrecorder hasn't, however, I have a Samsung Fullhd tv, which upscales everything to 1080i resolution. So even if my dvdrecorder had that upscale function, the tv takes it over.

Blurayplayers upscale your normal dvds too. But I am not sure how much that differs from dvdrecorders with automatic upscale or tv's with build in upscale. There is only one thing that is most important; your tv must have HDMI ports.

I found a link where Toshiba claims that upscaled dvds reach the same level as a blue ray disc;

it depends also on how everything is filmed; to give an example - the new dvd of tina turner's tour is breathtaking!

It is a dvd, however filmed in HD and on my television it looks like a blue ray disc, even though it is not! It is so amazingly sharp and detailed and rich colors.. I think when I see that, a blueray player is not needed yet. Same for Celine in Vegas, very sharp.. but I haven't seen such perfect videoquality as the Tina disc.

DVD upscaled can never be as good as true HD. You may need to check your eyes. :P :giggle:

I mentioned wanting a Blu-ray tonight to my fiance and he said, "I TOLD you we need to get a PS3..." ahahahahahaha rigghhhht. Although, that might be worthwhile in the long run- games for him, Celine in blu-ray for me. But if we got one, we'd for sure be getting all our new movies in Blu-ray haha, not JUST Celine, but she may be the reason we get a player in the first place :P Edited by ladylindsey

Thanks for you explanation and the links browseceline, I also found another where these resolutions topics are explained (The difference between 1080i, 1080p, 720p, 480i, 480p...) and all that stuff: http://hometheater.about.com/od/hometheate...dvidupscale.htm

In fact, I do have a blu-ray player (in the laptop from where I'm posting this, it obviously has an HDMI output), and an HDTV 1080p with HDMI input. But what I want to know is if I could have the same practical resolution playing a DVD disc on my TV linked from the BluRay player of my laptop through an HDMI wire as if playing a BD on the BluRay player the same way. You're saying the images would be sharper with a real BluRay Disc rather than with the DVD disc, and the sound is better... So I guess I should buy the Blu-Ray of TTEOTW instead of the DVD... I'll spend double price, so I hope it's worth the money!

And btw, remember Toshiba was the rival of Sony with the HD DVD format... So now if they claim anything made "wrong" from Sony, I would take it as a marketing revenge strategy... :hmm:

I don't think the cameramen who were following Céline across the world filmed her daily activities with real Full HD 1080p cameras :giggle: I mean, are they portable? ... so most likely TTEOTW BD would be the same quality AND Live in Las Vegas BD was. I haven't watched a single BD in my life -this laptop I bought only a few months ago-, but I trust all of you, the quality should be great! :w00t:

I think you can try to do that; if your laptop has a hdmi connection to connect to the tv, I would certainly try that! Maybe it works, but you can always try! What I suggest - borrow a blueray disc from your videostore (hire) and take a video that is extremely detailed, for example Transformers2 ( even if you find this a crap movie) or Celine in fullhd in Vegas - bluray. Then you check out the quality via dvd, and with bluray, and I think you should see a major difference! It is worth trying, because you already have a build in blurayplayer. Now the only thing that you have to invest in is a hdmi wire! Oh and remember this - and it is really true - hdmi cables come in all different qualities and prices.. only when you need a long wire ( like 3 meters or more) you can buy a more expensive one - however - a hdmi cable, no matter it is gold protected this or that - a hdmi cable works the same and functions the same, no matter the price. So do not buy those expensive cables from example Monstercable! http://news.bbc.co.uk/newsbeat/hi/technolo...00/10056547.stm

i actually own a PS3 and AND blu-ray and i have compared the dvd and blu-ray.

blu-ray is like so much better than dvd! it's so clear and amazing! can see more details too!

for the sound i can't tell cause i don't have surrounding system at my home... but it's already really good hearing from 2 speakers

i really can't wait for the movie and concert!

i would also think that sony probably will release the blu-ray of the concert maybe at a later date!

Courage don't you dare fail me now!

haha i know right!

the economic recession they had in america did not affect her Las Vegas show not one bit :mdr:

obama needs to solicit her to revive the economy

Build a coleseum in every state thats worth $95 and emply thousnads of people and when the show comes make it formal wear so the garment industry in evry state will be increased and the food industry too, then Celine will travel to each state doing 1 show per state for the year haha

STIMULATE THIS! MR PRESIDENT!! :mdr:

Do they cut interval videos?

Why is the DVD only 80 minutes? I can remember Sydney concerts were almost two hours (120 minutes)

As happy as I am to get a tour DVD, I am slightly annoyed at it only lasting 80 mins. The show was longer meaning they have to have cut several songs or cut her speeches. Even AND is 90 mins

yeah I'm WAY pumped but yeah only 80 minutes??? come on! Yeah they must have cut some numbers
