Prince Whiskers Posted January 8, 2008 at 07:50 AM Posted January 8, 2008 at 07:50 AM Is he really worth all the media hype? I'm sure the American fans on the forum have some interesting things to say about him. And did Hilary jinx herself by ditching "You and I"? incognito Posted January 8, 2008 at 10:14 AM Posted January 8, 2008 at 10:14 AM He's more like Bobby Kennedy than JFK. Obama advocates change and is running in a time where everyone is sick of the government and seem to be latching on to the person who claims to be the most different. Let's hope he doesn't meet the same end as Bobby. Obama is kind of... well... it's a slight risk to vote for him. He is VERY intelligent but he is a little of an unknown entity. He's held public office since 1996 but was only sworn in as a U.S Senator in 2005. This has led to many people claiming he lacks experience as a leader and it's a bad thing etc. And some people are saying stuff against him because he's "young". However, just something to think about... he is a year older than Bill Clinton was when he was running for president back in 1992 and he also has actual Washington experience which Bill Clinton did not have... He was never a Senator, he was never a Congressman yet he turned out to be a great president... cept when he was doing naughty things in the Oval Office. NH is make or break for Hillary. She did herself NO favors yesterday when she got all tearful. Two of the main arguments against Hillary are that she is a calculated robotesque figure who will do anything for power. So her nearly crying could be twisted as her trying to get sympathy. And the other argument is that she is a woman and women get emotional and aren't as strong as men. So her crying could be twisted as proof that she hasn't got what it takes to handle all of the pressures that go along with being president... if she can't handle the process of winning the nomination how is she gonna handle the rest of the campaign (should she win the nomination) and how will she handle being president? John Edwards is the best candidate for the Democrats if you're going from his ideals and realistic plans for change. He's against payola from drug companies etc, he's not a hypocrite (Obama is... he says he's against lobbyists yet as Clinton pointed out the other day he has an ex-lobbyist as one of the chief people in his campaign!) and he's able to stand up and admit when he's wrong... like how he admits he was wrong to vote for the war. Clinton doesn't seem capable of admitting that she was wrong to vote for the war... that's bad. It's a good trait to be able to admit your mistakes. Edwards is a good man and a good candidate. The Democrats are spoiled for choice though. Obama, Clinton, Edwards... all three are good politicians. All three are capable of winning in November and all three would probably be able to do the job well... all three are very intelligent people. As for the Republicans... It is SCARY that Mike Huckabee is doing so well. He is even MORE conservative than George W. Bush!!!! Sure he seems quite personable but he's about as far right as you can go on so many issues. Of course some stupid people just see the surface... see how he seems like a nice guy and they figure he's alright. No! George Bush seems like a nice guy when he's not doing presidential stuff... seems like he can be a laugh to be around. But is he a good president? NOPE! Romney is the devil, Guiliani will say whatever to whoever to get the nomination. Ron Paul scares people cos he's a Libertarian. John McCain is the lesser of so many evils. I think Obama is gonna win. Everyone is jumping on his bandwagon. I'd personally think that Edwards or Clinton are better candidates but whatever... Obama is not bad and he is inspiring a LOT of people to get out there and vote. That is NOT a bad thing! Voter apathy... especially from the youth was perhaps a part of why Kerry lost back in 2004. Young people seem to LOVE Obama and want to campaign for him. It's kind of annoying because a lot of people are getting carried away about him cos he's black and it's a big deal to have a black president and they aren't thinking of the issues!!!! Quote

Prince Whiskers Posted January 9, 2008 at 06:59 AM Author Posted January 9, 2008 at 06:59 AM UPDATE: Hillary just clinched the N.H. primary and while people are calling it an upset, I'm aware that Madam Clinton has gone back to Celine not for "You and I" but for the song "Femme Comme Chacune". Maybe I don't know much about American politics but when it comes to foreign policy, I rank Hillary higher than Obama. I think she has a deep understanding of culture-influenced nuances underlying the different international issues while Obama strikes me as too idealistic, preferring to see things as either black or white (no pun intended). And just to let Incognito know, our president is a woman and a former classmate of Bill Clinton at Georgetown U and while I have reservations about her leadership, I have to admit that she has shown very unusual toughness when it comes to dealing with people who are scheming to kick her out of power. 2 coup attemtps and 1 storming of the Palace gates by tens of thousands of agitated masses and she's still around. Oh and also, although he was governor of Arkansas for many years, Bill Clinton had very little Washington experience before he was elected president. Obama has experience and it's valid experience. People just keep spewing he's inexperienced because the Clinton Machine has spun it to them so much they just take it as fact. It's not. Plus, Barack Obama is a very, very intelligent man and he surrounds himself with wise people. How do you think he got where he is? You shouldn't be scared by his supposed "lack of experience" at all. Yes but that's the problem I personally have with women as world leaders. They go in with all guns blazing. They believe they have to prove they are as tough as a man and sometimes go too far and actually act even tougher than a man would in whatever the given situation is. My case study for this is Margaret Thatcher's 11 years as the toughest, most evil, loathsome leader the UK has had over the past 100 years. Quote

If anyone's ever been on Hillary's website she has videos where she maps out her plans for different topics step by step. Say What? Posted January 24, 2008 at 02:45 PM Posted January 24, 2008 at 02:45 PM Hillary's a hypocrite and therefore cannot be trusted. She only cares to win and doesn't care about the people. It was quite brilliantly exposed in the movie sicko how her failed health care reform came crashing down (that was back when her husband was in office). When Barrack got the support of David Geffen, who was once a Clinton supporter, she asked Obama to return the money he received from Geffen because he bad mouthed her and her husband (http://www.cnn.com/2007/POLITICS/02/21/clinton.obama/index.html). Give me a break! Is that really the kind of person you want as a president? She also came down hard on Canada a few days following 9/11 saying that terrorists had crossed the Canadian border to enter the USA and strongly suggested that Canada needed to reinforce their border. As we now know the terrorists actually lived here in the good ol' US of A. She cannot be trusted to make judgment and comments based on her personal opinion instead of factual information. This will be a major mistake if she becomes the next president. Quote

incognito Posted January 24, 2008 at 07:37 PM Posted January 24, 2008 at 07:37 PM Hillary totally PWND Obama in the last debate. He got really angry over nothing. He can't take criticism. The guy can't take the heat and so should get out of the kitchen. Edwards was right... they both need to stop squabbling. But Obama is doing himself no favors by getting so angry, so easily. And he's doing himself no favors talking up threats to attack a respected and popular guy like Bill Clinton. I tried to be fair about him but Obama just IRKS me. Quote
