I had her album for christmas, and it is fantastic.

 

She has such an astounding voice - when she isnt drunk, or high on stage!

I love "back to black" and "love is a losing game", also her rendition of "will you still love me tomorow".

 

Althought she looks terrible most of the time, she has inspired many people with her fasion sense and hair. (It said it in a magazine) Many of the catwalk models are walking the runway with Amy Winehouse's beehive, and her eyeliner is cool, when it isnt smudged all round her face.

 

She needs to sort herself out, or else she will end up killing herself, and a voice like thay would be missed.

I think she's got an amazing voice and a lot of talent...I really like to listen to her music.... She sings all her songs live (never heard her singing playback) and with so much love even when she's on drugs......hope she will get better soon! We don't want to loose such an amazing talent!!! I don't know anything about her personal drama - but I really enjoy her jazz style and she has a very unique voice.

The type of music you would go to a jazz club and hear... SWEET!!

Amy's vocals are wonderfully smoky. And the palpable sincerity of her singing is so Celinish! Norah Jones puts me to sleep but Amy's earthy jazz is irresistible!

I am now playing my Back to Black cd and i must say, this is a pretty nice album. I am very new to this genre since I am more into RnB and Pop-Rock right now. I'm just wondering why is she so famous now? Is she really deserving of people's attention? Here in the Philippines, she is still quite unknown, but after the Grammys, I decided to give her album a listen and check out more from this album. Her style is original and the album is absolutely fantastic.

 

I have no idea if this topic will last for 3 hours and i don't know if this will be ignored by some of you but I really wanna know how big is she in the UK and America? And I'm curious if a Celine diehard also enjoy her music. I wanna know more about her and the members' view to Amy Winehouse.

She is huge in the UK. I got her Back to Black a while ago, and love it.

 

She needs to release more songs though, because people are not recognising her for her music, but are recognising her for being a drug addict and actually going to rehab.

 

She has such an amazing talent, but needs to do something good with it

I think it's an extraordinary album, though I'm not very much into this sort of music, but I think that as long as the album can tell you something, and it makes you like it by making some difference, it's worth listening over and over again

I am a die hard fan of Céline and I love Amy Winehouse. I think she is very talented and has an amazing, soulful voice.

There was a time when I listened to her Back To Black album repeatedly !

 

She is huge in the UK. She's what annoyingly pretentious music lovers would call a 'credible' artist.

 

However, she had an earlier album 'Frank' which was not nearly as successful as the second. I have to say I think her personal life and struggle with drugs and alcohol are what secured her popularity in the UK. I'm not sure if you know this but, apparently drugs are very cool and make any artist/public figure more credible. I mean, I personally thought Kate Moss' career would end disgracefully when she was caught with coccaine but, who would have guessed it, she has gone from strength to strength and that's saying nothing of her (ex?)boyfriend. It seems to me that a few hardcore drugs and a tragic life never did anybody's career any harm. I mean, people just rave about Whitney... and she can't sing anymore!

 

Okay, that was a bit of a rant so I'll get back on track...

 

The sad thing is, with Amy, I think she has real troubles and her situation is very tragic. I don't think she's a media-whore and I don't think she enjoys her status. I think she is exceptionally talented but has struggled to cope with all the adoration. She has genuine problems but all most people see is the tragic heroine and guess what... she makes good music so let's rave about her and make her life miserable!

 

I say these things only because I am still sometimes made to feel stupid when I tell people I like Céline. I get the impression many of you feel the same but I can tell you that in the UK where image is everything, it is just not acceptable to admit to buying Céline's music. Even though her success is a clear indication (to me) of her talent, it's just not cool to be her fan. I can't help but think that it's partly because she doesn't drink, she doesn't take drugs, has never been photographed behaving outrageously outside clubs, is actually happily married to the first man she fell in love with and, to top it allm is hugely rich and successful. They tried attacking her relationship with René but she proved them wrong.

 

If there's nothing else to criticise then it's easy just to say her music is terrible and, sin of all sins, she doesn't write her own material (!)

Maybe Céline should be photographed snorting coke in a hotel room... that way Alone is bound to make it to No 1 in the UK!
