Bralo20 Posted May 12, 2009 at 05:33 PM Posted May 12, 2009 at 05:33 PM What's sad (or scary depending how you look at it) is the $300 price I quoted wasn't a scalper site. Towards the end of Céline's run with A New Day... Ticketmaster/Caesars Palace started charging about $300/ticket for front orchestra seating. (I think the number was something like $317/ticket.) I can't tell you how utterly annoyed I was considering they were charging MORE for a show that had LESS songs when it began. Such is the entertainment industry I suppose. It'll be interesting how they (whoever "they" are) prices Céline next year. ...Joe... Ticketprices are always calculated on several issues. One of those is "offer and demand" strategy. When the demand is there and people are ready to obtain a ticket you can easily raise the price of the tickets and still sell them... While tickets for the AND show weren't exactly cheap they weren't to highly priced eather... If you know the demand for tickets is there for at least xxx shows there is no risk to raise a price... While the shows did run to the end the demand was still there for the tickets, so yes, AEG, Ticketmaster & Co raised to prices to gain even more profit from those tickets. Could you blame them? I actually don't think you can. It are the buyers that set the price in the end... Just till the day the price is just to high and people won't buy them anymore... During the worldtour you saw a similar thing... Some countries were selling the shows for 60 EUR, others for 80 and others (like Antwerp for example) just started arround 80 EUR (about 100 USD) and gone up just to +160 EUR or a bitt less then 200 USD. Or Monaco where people payed 500 EUR (700 USD) to see the show... Every year I read the newspapers about the famous "Rock Werchter" festival in Belgium. Year after year chosen as the best festival in the world, year after year everyone is yelling that tickets are getting way to expensive... Every single year before the festival (4 days) starts the news is full with this "crap"... If they really find it to expensive they wouldn't go anymore... But since the festival is year after year sold out I doubt they would lower their prices soon... Af for the new show in Vegas.... I think tickets would start arround 90 to 100 USD going up to 300 USD for the first shows. You can probably multiply this since the demand will be to much for the offer and tickets will be sold on sites like Ticketexchange and co for a couple of times the amount originally payed for. Maybe later it will level to "normal" prices again to raise again when the shows are going to the end... Simple basic economics... I won't mind paying 300 USD or more for the best seat in the house, at least if I can buy the ticket at face value and not on one of the auctionsites like Ticketmasters Ticketexchange division... ...
Bralo20 Posted May 12, 2009 at 05:37 PM Posted May 12, 2009 at 05:37 PM Exclusive: Celine Dion sets June 2010 date for Caesars Palace returnhttp://www.vegasdeluxe.com/blogs/luxe-life...-date-caesars-/ Update from Los Angeles Times: Update: John Meglen president of AEG Live and Concerts West who promotes Dion's concerts as well as the venue at Caesars writes in reply to my query with charming cheekiness: "....yes I can confirm that Robin is reporting it!........sorry.....no comment other than the normal...We Love Celine!" The last part is actually very interresting... AEG live won't deny the rumour... They won't confirm it either but the fact that it's not denied says something... So actually the are confirming it by not denying it ...
Snowhite Posted May 12, 2009 at 05:42 PM Posted May 12, 2009 at 05:42 PM So we have to wait only one year!
Bralo20 Posted May 12, 2009 at 05:43 PM Posted May 12, 2009 at 05:43 PM If this goes through I'll wonder if she will work again with Dragone. I definately hope so, but I think different ...
Kyle_Jared Posted May 12, 2009 at 06:24 PM Posted May 12, 2009 at 06:24 PM With AEG not "Denying" it, they've already signed... It'll be interesting to see what kind of show they do. I'd put money on a new album launch around the same time
Prince Whiskers Posted May 12, 2009 at 06:54 PM Posted May 12, 2009 at 06:54 PM (edited) It remains to be seen but I'd be surprised if this purported return to Vegas turns out to be the beginning of a golden era in as far as artistry and innovation in her music is concerned. Celine Dion in her English career has always been just an entertainer. A bona fide musician she ain't and will probably never be. Teodora Posted May 12, 2009 at 07:11 PM Posted May 12, 2009 at 07:11 PM it's all very strange... I think she should concentrate on a baybe and not for things after... but maybe the pregnancy hasn't worked again:(:( I wish her so best but I'm confused Don't forget that Celine wouldn't announce the baby until after 3 or so months, so it could have already worked but not past the "delicate" stage of early pregnancy. Oh, and the June date is only pencilled in - not official. Don't take it as gospel just yet!!Well, last time she told the world the day she found out it had worked out. She may be doing things different this time, who knows... I just hope she'll get pregnant, she wants it so much. And if that happens, I really don't think she'll go back to singing in Vegas in June 2010, because that would mean the baby would be just a couple of months old, she'd still be nurturing him/her, so I don't think she'd leave the baby at that stage. On the other hand, if the baby thing doesn't work out, she might as well go back to singing...
Shamrock_1982 Posted May 12, 2009 at 07:12 PM Posted May 12, 2009 at 07:12 PM (edited) If this goes through I'll wonder if she will work again with Dragone. I definately hope so, but I think different Being vegas, and as they are friends and did so well in the past working together....I think Dragone will be involved in the visual aspect, but not as much as A new day. That was a show, and I think this will be more of a concert, so it will be very different but still have that hint of cirque du soleil in there somewhere ( I think anyway ). And if I'm right, being a concert, Celine will not have to rehearse as much as she would have to for a show, like the time spent in belguim and in vegas for A new day... getting it all spot on, which would be great. But it has to be different from the ''TC'' tour at the same time, it has to be fresh, and have that vegas touch/feel you can only see performed in vegas if you know what I mean, as they have the best lights, technology, sound, and people working on those shows/concerts there..... The colossuem I felt was so intimate and you felt that were ever you were seated in there, that you were so close to Celine and it was cosy, but on tour I loved how she interacted with fans freely unlike vegas were it was mostly scripted....So I think it will be the best of both worlds if it is a concert more than a show, so we'll have the best of both worlds and the ultimate experience!! I'm just excited to find out more over the coming weeks and months of what we can expect, when dates are announced, when it has a name/title , and we can buy tickets!!!! No matter what month it is next year, I'm in vegas mode today and I'm hotel browsing, deciding where I'm gonna stay already, lol.Sod xmas, I'm more excited about vegas 2010, wo hooooooo Darren. Timster Posted May 12, 2009 at 07:21 PM Posted May 12, 2009 at 07:21 PM (edited) After reading on the news that Kate Winslet and Leonardo di Caprio are paying the last surviving Titianic survivor's nursing home fees , I realised that 2012 will be the 100th anniversary! I hope Celine does an amazing performance of My Heart Will Go On song that day in Las Vegas, so it can be shown on TV worldwide!!! Slow down there horsie Just kiddin'! I'm excited too! I really miss Vegas. Of all the places I've been to, Vegas is the only one I actually miss... I really think it has something to do with the sun there, not just Celine Anyway, I will surely go when Celine goes back, but probably not in the first year, as I'm planning a trip to Peru sometime in 2010 - 2011. That's about the only thing that bugs me about her going back to Vegas: it makes me go there every year on holiday, and I only have money for one out-of-country trip each year (well, I don't have money for that either, I go on credit ), so I can't go and see anything else. Thank God she went on a world tour, and I got to see 3 other cities .

I agree - and its really depressing when (like me) you don't have anyone to go to Vegas with!!! You don't need anyone to go to Vegas with! Meet up with people from the forum once you get there, I"m sure a ton of us will be around and everyone's super friendly. I was in the same situation with Montreal. No one I knew from home wanted to spend the money to go to Montreal for a week in FEBRUARY when its below 0 to see Celine lol so I went by myself. I made so many new friends and that week was the best of my life to say the least. In my opinion trips are more exciting when you're by yourself, you can do whatever you want, and you are more inclined to meet some new friends. I will probably end up going to Vegas again by myself. All my friends are saying the want to go with me now, but when it comes down to actually planning and booking flights they might back down. They're already saying they'll go but won't see Celine with me because they know I'll be splurging and spending whatever amount it takes to be in the front row, and they're barely Celine fans so they aren't willing to spend as much. But yes, don't let going by yourself bring you down. And who cares if we all are already planning/"stressing"/saving money? We're just excited Celine fans. Besides if the 2010 date is true for her to begin, it's not too early to start saving. angelil78 Posted May 13, 2009 at 09:30 PM Posted May 13, 2009 at 09:30 PM I´m getting way to excited about Celine coming back to Las Vegas. I´m so positive she will be back. I can hardly listen to her songs that she performed in Vegas as it reminds me to much of the show and I can just picture everything in my mind when listening to the songs. I am saving and trying to get a friend with me to the show. If she wont come, then I will go alone or invite my sister like I did last time. I just hope that IF she comes back to Las Vegas, that she wont have the first show around christmas or new year as that´s the only time I can´t travel to Las Vegas. I´m definetly going to the first show! Oh and I hope it will be a show like last time, not a concert. But not the same show as last time, different songs and dances..

With that said I was thinking this morning about something that peaked my curiosity. When/If Céline comes back to Caesars Palace in Las Vegas will she have a store again? If so, where will it be located? Will she take over Elton's store location? Will she share her old store loaction with its new residents, Cher and Bette Midler? Will Cher and Better get the boot and be relogated to Elton's former paddock? I'm very curious! ...Joe...
WindyCityCelineFan Posted May 16, 2009 at 03:44 PM Posted May 16, 2009 at 03:44 PM (edited) I read on some vegas newspaper website that Cher wants out of her contract at the end of this year instead of early to mid 2010. Wonder if this prompted an earlier proposed date of June 2010 instead of the fall of 2010 for Celine. Edited May 16, 2009 at 03:49 PM by WindyCityCelineFan
