Hey all, finally got these pictures from Helsinki before the show. I think she looks very pretty in these, the dress is lovely too.

 

Here is the thing they gave her for 500 000 albums sold in Finland. In a 5 million people nation that means every 10th person owns a Celine Dion cd.. or it could be that some of us own a few..

btw..what did she said after "is that alright Helsinki"?? She didn't say "I can't hear you..is that alright, Helsinki"...she said something in Finnish and I wanna know what that was...

 

edit: got it..she said "Hyvää iltaa teille kaikille, Helsinki"

 

Aaw, now I can hear that too! She's so adorable! I absolutely adored that she spoke some Finnish (I also got those 'kiitos' and 'miten menee' before), it was so nice from her! And so awesome to hear her speak our language!

 

Oh I miss that night so much, want to go back there...

 

Yeah! That`s soooo cute! I`m amazed how much Finnish she learned for this one concert! Specially coz Finnish isn`t the easiest language.

I was able to sneak in my DSRL as well as the crappy camera, so I snapped as many photos as I could before the security came and told me to put the camera away. Some of them aren't even focused on Céline, cause I was trying to be all sneaky with the camera and didn't have time to really concentrate on taking the photos.

OMG, did she really say that!?! I missed it at the concert and now I've been watching the beginning of the video a thousand times and I still can't hear what Céline says! I can't believe she said so many things in Finnish!

Celine Dion tarjosi näyttävän spektaakkelin

 

• Celine Dion Helsingin Hartwall Areenassa maanantaina 9.6.

 

Mitä kertoo laulajasta, että huomattava osa ohjelmasta on lainattu muilta? Celine Dionin tapauksessa ainakin sen, että solisti ei pelkää kokeilla rajojaan.

 

Dionin konsertoidessa ensimmäistä kertaa Suomessa maanantaina täpötäyden katsomon reaktioista päätellen oli yhdentekevää, että moni illan mittaan kuultu teos on ollut hitti jo ennen kanadalaisen kosketusta, tekijöinä muun muassa Cyndi Lauper, Heart, Jennifer Rush, Eric Carmen, Queen, James Brown sekä Ike ja Tina Turner.

 

Coverien ohessa Dion tarjosi yltäkylläisen valikoiman omille albumeilleen räätälöityjä luomuksia I’m Alivesta ranskaksi laulettuun Pour que tu m’aimes encore -balladiin. Illan ehkä odotetuin esitys oli kuitenkin jälkimmäisenä encorena kuultu Titanic -elokuvasävelmä My Heart Will Go On, joka kytki mielikuvat videopintojen suoltamiin filminäytteisiin.

 

Siinä missä rock-konkarit Mark Knopfler, John Fogerty ja Bob Dylan ovat esiintyneet Suomessa vajaille katsomoille tänä keväänä, Dionin konserttiin myytiin järjestäjän mukaan 13 500 lippua. Lähes puolen miljoonan ostetun levyn ohella menekki viestii, että nyky-Suomessa on tilausta myös tällaiselle estradiviihteelle.

 

Vastinetta rahalle

Kaikkineen lähes kaksituntinen show oli komeimpia Helsingin areenassa nähtyjä. Visuaalisesti Dion tarjosi runsaasti vastinetta 109-199 euroa maksaneille pääsylipuille.

 

Yleisön keskelle sijoitettu lava toi tähden lähelle. Dion, seitsenjäseninen yhtye ja kahdeksan tanssijaa levittivät spektaakkelin kaikkiin ilmansuuntiin tasapuolisesti. Videopinnoille ajettiin esityksen yksityiskohtien lisäksi grafiikkaa sekä katkelmia musiikki- ja muista videoista. Valotrussien kehystämä ja myös alta valaistu lava kätki sisäänsä hissejä ja liukuhihnoja, jotka kasvattivat osaltaan shown näyttävyyttä.

 

Kappalevalikoima korosti Dionin imagoa hienostuneen jakkupuku-soulin taitajana. Naisen ääniala on genreen sopiva, samoin hänen dramaattinen tulkintansa.

 

Vaikka Dionilta puuttuu esimerkiksi Whitney Houstonin fraseerauksen lämpö ja teoksiin sielukkaan hehkun silaava palo, kanadalainen selviytyi kunnialla vaikeistakin haasteista. Esimerkiksi It’s All Coming Back To Me Nown ja My Loven kaltaisessa yltiötunteellisessa vuodatuksissa laulajan viileys pelasti kappaleet hukkumasta patetiaan.

 

Osumia ja huteja

Dionin viimeisimmän albumin Taking Chancesin poiminnoista kokonaisuudesta erottuivat myönteisesti keskitempoinen Shadow Of Love ja Alone, Heartin mahtiballadin tulkinta. Ensimmäinen encore, Turnerien bravuureihin kuulunut River Deep Mountain High yllätti sekin latauksellaan, varsinkin kun sitä edeltänyt soul-klassikoiden potpuri jäi vaisuksi.

 

Queenin We Will Rock Youn kierrättäminen sen sijaan tuntui perusteettomalta, ja vaikka Dion on omaksunut Freddie Mercuryn machoelkeet hauskasti, myös The Show Must Go On olisi saanut jäädä vetämättä. Nyt Dion vaikutti lähinnä kalastelevan sympatiaa kollektiiviseen muistiin iskostuneilla sitaateilla.

 

On solistista ja musiikkivalinnoista mitä mieltä tahansa, maaliskuun lopussa 40 täyttänyt Dion osoittautui maineensa veroiseksi ammattilaiseksi. Jokainen ele oli hiottu ja esitys useine asun- ja teemanvaihtoineen kulki saumattomasti.

 

Välispiikeissään tähti ruoti omaa kokemusmaailmansa ja luki katsomoa herkkävaistoisesti: yleisön laulusuoritus näytti ihastuttavan spontaanisti, ja kun koko areena osoitti suosiota seisaaltaan, Dion nyökkäili hyväksyvästi ja kiitteli kohteliaasti suomeksi.

Almost a crash!

Last week singer Céline Dion arrived on a private jet to Finland. 3 cars picked up Céline and her family from the airport. There was 6-7 foreign fans waiting at the gate with roses and presents. When the signer noticed the fans, she asked the driver to stop so quickly that there was almost a crash! The fans were thrilled to meet their idol.

 

and the text on the picture says:

The article is written based on a reader's tip...Someone sent the pictures and the story to the magazine, and got 100€ in return.

There was only 6 of us (I, Jenni, Ramona, Christine, Salla and Elina) + 2 other people, and these two sent the story to the magazine. lol.

 

 

oh and the magazine is a celebrity gossip magazine called 7 päivää (Seven Days)

Hey, I've been thinking about this in my head since the day of the concert, and I need to ask it now to be sure. Did Céline sing Still Loving You in the arena, like as a rehearsal before the concert with the band? It's a silly question maybe but I just need to be sure, cause I don't know how those things work, would the band still be rehearsing 1,5 hours before the concert (and only 30 minutes before the audience is let inside the hall)..? If I've just imagined it all.

It is, indeed, a shame there are not many videos from Helsinki, but at least where we were sitting it was just simply impossible to video anything as the security guards at the venue were so strict about it..
