For those of you who asked, the lipped parts are the following: TPOL - from the chorus till the end, IACBTMN, TLYM, IDAN, SM - the final high part, IS - only live from right here right now, AA, IW, MHWGO.

I don't think i forgot any.

The nasality someone else mentioned, well, it's actually much better than on the live CD. I think it may be due to several reasons. From a vocal technique point of view, it is defenitely lack of regular and well oriented training. Celine's voice has always had the nasality in it but not in the way it is present now. She's needing singing lessons to sort that out, the thing is that she can't get her voice to ressonate in the "imposto" zone which is above the nose (the bone between your eyebrows) and it gets stuck in the nose. Basically it is an easier way to sing and she probably got stuck to it because it is a ressonance place she can access easily, though it isn't necessarily a good sound. So i think she can fix that easily if she's willing to take the time to correct. Also, because it is an easier way to sing, she probably started using it during the Vegas engagement as some sort of voice protection thing, the thing is that best way to protect your voice is learning proper techinique and not singing in the way you feel easier, otherwise everyone of us would be singers, isn't that right?

THe main reason is that Celine doesn't care anymore of how perfect she sounds. She keeps saying that, but I do hope she changes her mind a bit and goes back to the voice studio before the world tour...

My AND DVD arrived home this week. That's really something that I've never seen before. I'm so proud of havin' had the opportunity to watch one of the most incredible concerts ever produced. I'm still speechless. :jawdrop: I wanna congratulate all the fans who had the chance to meet Celine. All the people who did work for this DVD are the ones who we gotta be proud of. That's something that I'll never forget.

CELINE, I'M SO PROUD OF LOVING YOU.

Oh, I love the DVD - I really do. It was in the post waiting for me when I got back from Las Vegas. It was something at least, to reduce my depression after arriving back in the UK.

But, it's no comparison to actually being there - my speakers can't replicate the bass and the volume of being inside the Colosseum, which is really disappointing!

i'm, sorry but i don't think you're accurate in what you are saying. In both the lipped parts and also the voice technique applied to Celine. I'm sorry to say this but your post comes off as cocky. I doubt you could do better than Celine or we would all be singers with 100 million dollar contracts. :giggle:

i absolutely love this DVD!!!

i sat and watched the whole thing from start to finish - all 5 hours of it!!

The backstage pass is brilliant, to see how it is done.

I want to say something about the editing of the DVD. This pisses me off. In the song If I Could, why would they immediately zoom in and show you a close up of the 2 girls pushing the piano across the stage and also show you the big cables holding them up. It just SPOILS the effect entirely. What a waste! The scene looks so much better if they had showed you a wide angle shot and the whole stage. They just couldn't let the camera be for 2 seconds. its always zoom in here, zoom in there, cut to this cut to that. I should have been the one directing the cuts. I could have done such a Better Job! Also when Celine was dancing and showing her hot dance steps in RDMH they again cut away when she was turning her back and showing off her fancy foot work. And also when she was backing up in her high heels performing some nice hot dance moves. Again what a waste!. Its a good thing that during the "Secrets" docummentary they showed you it again with a better view and you could at least see she was doing some fancy foot work there and get an appreciation for it. I just think it wasnt a fan who edited this dvd and missed alot of good parts where they should have focused & zoomed in on and miss alot of parts where it would have been better to get a view of the whole stage. I somehow think that the earlier dvd with the short blonde hair was shot better from the clips i saw of it. And in that DVD the stage didnt look so vast and empty.

I think back stage pass could have gone into more technical details that i would have loved to see like how the LED screen functions or how they built the stage. Baqsically they just showed you the dancers getting ready. It should have been more technical and deeper! After all the whole constrcution of the Colosseum was a technological marvel but they failed to capitalize on that fact! :xmaswhistling:

i havent bought my dvd yet, but i have to say something about the editing. ive watched some of the show on youtube, and it is a littel annoying cause everytime they change the scene, your wondering what someone else is doing, you know? like if they show one of the dancers, and you ant to know what celine is doing, or vise versa. lol they should have just put a camera in like front row so we could see it from that view and still see the whole stage  Edited by linah4

I disagree. Putting a camera in front row and seeing the whole show from one perspective would be worse that what they did. But i agree they needed to slow the hell down just a bit. i think they went crazy like techie camera men in candy shop. :giggle: Also as i stressed before they should have mapped out a plan before hand and show close ups of what would be best shown this way and would have benefited from a wider angle view point. this all comes back to editing. I agree there are some issues with the editing - on the disc with the bonus features, there are some synchronization problems with the sound - this is especially noticeable during The Power Of Love, where two recordings of the song are not sequenced properly.

I would loved to have seen a feature about the Colosseum, its design, plan, construction... as lindsey22 said, the building is a technological wonder, and I'm sure everyone would be interested to learn about it at some technical level.

The one thing I am most disappointed about, is that the songs that were cut from the show have not been included on the DVD. I remember reading that the DVD was to show the evolution of A New Day..., and I'm sad that these songs - Nature Boy, The First Time..., Fever etc. are missing.

Overall I really love the DVD. I can see people's points about some of the editing. One thing I wish they had done is to have left some of the parts in between songs in as if you were actually at the show. For example just leave in the times when the audience was waiting for the next song or costumes changes. They left some of this in but not all of it.

One thing that I noticed that was very hard to get on screen was the large scale of the stage and the show. Now maybe this is because I'm viewing it on a regular, old fashioned CRT TV and not a flat screen, but sometimes when they had one of the dancers on a swing or they showed the whole stage from above it looked good but it loses a little something on video. I'm not sure you could really do that any differently though. I've seen the show a few times, sometimes sitting far away and sometimes sitting extremely close (2nd row) and the whole scale of the show, especially when I first saw it, was amazing.

Hehe. well i think by havng it from a close seat's perspectives would give it more of a reality of being there rather than flash here flash there flash back, you know? it does get kind of annoying when it flashes to her face and ur waiting to see what look or action shed give next then it just flashes to one of the dancers or the audience, or vise versa.

Yes, of course there is an official statement saying "you paid 200 bucks to see a half lipped concert" LOL... now seriously, it's actually easy to tell. Listen to live perfomances for TPOL since 1995: the second chorus sounds the same for 12 years, also in the bootlegs from AND these songs all sound the same and Celine gives it away very easily. If you watch carefully, when she's singing live she doesn't shake her jaw for vibrato on her voice. When she lips she does so and she tends to overact a lot more.

Besides, these rumour about her lipping some songs came from a long time ago. Back in 1996 when they fired her drumms player Peter Barbeau, he was seriously pissed off and gave away that she uses pre recorded samples of her voice on her live shows. Back then I remember thinking "that's a lie, Celine is amazing, she doesn't need that"... but it is true. She's been lipping parts of her concerts for a long time. Of course that with the AND engagement she did it more oftenly to protect her voice from the crazy schedule, but she used to do it in the past, though in a much lighter way. For instance on her regular tour concerts you'd have like 2 or 3 lipped songs, always the end of the TPOL, sometimes TLYM and probably one or other more complicated dance track.

And I tell you again. The easiest way to know if she's lipping or not is her jaw. If you see her jaw shaking as she starts to vibrate the notes, she's lipping. "Certain as the sun..." ;)

I'm graduating in Vocal Performance, so I know what I'm talking about. Going around and calling people cocky just because they have an opinion based on what they study does seem like something inaccurate.

I disagree that Celine uses pre-recorded tracks in her concerts. It just really boggles me when all of you say she lips certain songs and I have to think to myself: "if she planned to lip all of the songs that we have named, why did they install the heat vents in the stage and have her on the breathing machine in the car?? If she's gonna lip the songs, why does she have to protect her vocal chords?" Celine can sing all those songs LIVE because she has a voice that could sink a thousand ships, including one big boat in particular!!! I have confidence that if she is lipping, we aren't going to find out about it and we never will. So let's just stop talking about it. It's off topic anyway!

New Signature Coming Soon!

the installed all that stuff because the desert air is DREADFULL for the voice, wether you sing or not. Just breathing it dehydrates your vocal cords. Of course Celine is a singer and she know that there is a life after vegas. If she had spent all these years in the desert lipping the whole show, that is, not singing at all, and if she didn't look after herself she'd be pretty much over by now. Can't you people hear how much hoarse Rene's voice sounds after being in the desert all these years?? It was never good after the cancer, but it has certainly got a LOT worse even with his bottle of water always with him, and he hasn't been singing much, I think...

What most people don't understand is that you don't necessarily have to sing to harm your vocal cords. Even if, as I said, she didn't sing at all, she'd still be speaking and inhaling the dry desert air, and that's the problem. i mean, when even certain foods can have negative effects on the voice (dairy, for instance), how come breathing in 100% dry desert air won't affect it? You don't have to sing to breathe...

the dvd is perfect. i wish they could interview more people behind the scenes. only a number of the dancers were interviewed (hello there's 50 of them), those technicians, the people behind the computers that operates the lighting, the led screen, etc. only few minutes were shown for the celebrities that attended to see the show (i'm sure there's more), the band members (apart from mego), backup singers. where are these ppl? they must have a lot of things to share with us.

Im not saying Celine has never lipped a song all singers do at some point but for you to make a declaration like you are her voice coach is laughable at best :giggle:

I just wonder is there a big difference between a normal DVD and a blu-ray one?

If yes, I may decide to buy a blu-ray also

The Blu-ray one is very high definition (quality). To play a Blu-ray disc, you'll need a Blu-ray disc player... Which, in turn, unfortunately, isn't the same as a regular DVD player. :giggle:

Yes, I have the same question. Does anyone know what is the difference between the English and the French version? And is the version they sell in France the same as the one they sell in Quebec? Hope someone can help us, I really would want to find this out! :flowers:
