SlovakClark Posted December 4, 2007 at 12:23 AM Posted December 4, 2007 at 12:23 AM (edited) The best voice Celine had in 1995 when she was recording D'eux. It's enough if you compare live performances from 1995: Paris, "J'attendais" and 2007: Taking Chances X Factor... Oh God, Celine Voice changed so much and is such a pity! In 1995 her voice was higher, fresh, clear and young. Now it's getting worse... her live performances aren't as powerful as they used to be in the 90's. yes thats thrue, but i think celine still can use the same voice like in FIY era, when she takes off her nasality i hate on her live performances now still i think that her OLYMP was These Are Special Times, when i heard it first time i couldnt believe that our celine is better that i thought, And she is the best Edited December 4, 2007 at 12:24 AM by SlovakClark Quote http://imagizer.imageshack.us/v2/320x240q90/853/qwz9.jpg
Black Kitten Posted January 1, 2008 at 04:35 AM Posted January 1, 2008 at 04:35 AM im sorry but i disagree with the 1st post. mariah's voice has changed a lot! just compare her live performances before and compare it to her most recent ones. yes mariah used to have a great live singing voice. but after her daydream album, her voice changed. so roughy, she cant reach those high notes, she struggles a lot in her live performances, she's out of breath. try to watch her unplugged, here is mariah carey and live at madison square garden. and then watch her latest dvd, the adventures of mimi or her around the world dvd. and decide for yourself. i don't think celine's voice became so nasal. its just her singing style changed i think. try to imagine celine singing live with mariah or whitney and look who will outshine who. stsheep Posted January 1, 2008 at 09:20 AM Posted January 1, 2008 at 09:20 AM (edited) When I listen to people sing who have been around for awhile, they're voice for the most part sounds like it did ten or 15 years ago. Like Mariah Carey, her voice sounds exactly the same as it used to. However, with Celine, if you were to go and play her Unison album, it would be very difficult to realize that's the same person. It seems like it's such a gradual change that you wouldn't even notice it if you played all the albums chronologically one after the other. So which voice of hers do you like better? Personally, I think it's SO much better now. It sounded more much nasily back then. Now it's this perfect, pure sound. I also think she can sing both higher and lower now than she could before. I mean, her low notes in New Dawn are insane. That's almost as low as I can go, lol. i'm shocked reading this!Mariah's voice was seriously damaged after daydream album. (and it did come back for some after MIMI album, but still can't compare to her voice before Daydream album)in addition, Mariah never held a long run worldwide tour like Celine (many times). The number of concerts in Mariah's tour are much less than Celine's,(maybe you can't even call it a "tour", besides MIMI tour last year)Mariah always only held 1~2 concerts in few contries. Even her longest running MIMI tour last year is much shorter compared to Celine's tour (FIY, LTAL, TakingChances......).(another thing to notice, Celine starts her career almost 9 year earlier than Mariah!)Whitney's vocal condition is even worse than Mariah's. And Whitney had only did one or two tour (and also for short running) for her early albums. Compared to them, Celine's vocal condition is better than them after long career. But I'm really worried about the taking chances tour. It's really time for her to rest for her voice....after the long run of A New Day. Edited January 1, 2008 at 09:30 AM by stsheep Quote

iloveceline22 Posted January 1, 2008 at 10:28 AM Posted January 1, 2008 at 10:28 AM ummmm i think Celine's voice was more nasely before and now its much better!!! ive noticed tho that she cant hold long notes as well becuz shes been exhausted from the vegas show. I think she needs time to rest, for her voice to become strong again. Her voice was more powerful before, but its normal for ur voice to change as you get older. But overall i think Celine will always be the best singer ever and her voice will always have the most unique transitions. Quote Theres nothing more I want but to meet Celine Dion! But she was sick that day so I can forgive her. And stop being so bitter Sebabababababbaba, a lot of people say her voice sounded good on Live A Paris, so do I. Seb you always say that... and I never believe you!! LAP is my FAV live album and I think she sounded amazing on it!!! But I have to say that on à L'Olympia her voice was the best... pure perfection!!! To me her best periode is Celine Dion- Falling Into You... you can really hear that she's starting to train her voice... But I love every change in Céline's voice!! corr_azy Posted January 2, 2008 at 01:50 PM Posted January 2, 2008 at 01:50 PM I think that the Falling Into You/Let's Talk About Love album was her vocal peak. Her voice before that was a little too sharp, in my opinion. Her voice now is too nasal, and honestly, I got a shock when I watched the A New Day DVD for the first time. She seemed to strain her voice and went into her nasal tone to reach the higher notes such as on Seduces Me and The Power Of Love. And that annoys me because I know she can still sing with her full voice like she used to: just look at Taking Chances live on the AMAs. Of course, her voice has somehow lost its lustre, and that's perfectly understandable. You know, I wonder whether Celine would still be able to pull of a song like All By Myself now. Quote

Jan Posted January 2, 2008 at 04:24 PM Posted January 2, 2008 at 04:24 PM I agree that the change in her voice is spectacular, which is quite normal. Although I like her current voice, my favourite period was between 1992 and 1995, that is the Celine Dion album, The Colour of my Love and D'eux. I'm not particularly keen on her voice in the 80s, it's too sharp and raw for me, and regarding her later works, 1 fille 4 type is a kind of odd one out: the music is incredible, but Céline's voice is a bit strange for me. I might be alone with this opinon, because I've told a lot of people about it and nobody agreed with me. It's hard to describe... I would say her voice is not that fresh. Concerning her live performances, I'm a bit disappointed because I haven't heard a really good one from her earlier songs since the return in 2002. OK, it might be a result of the lack of vocal training, however I'm sad to realize that she can't perform let's say The Power of Love as well as she used to. I wonder how she'll sound on the world tour singing songs from the new albums - not too much lipsynching hopefully. Finally: Live a Paris the worst performance? I completely disagree with it. The one who wrote this must have made a mistake: I think it was one of her BEST live performances EVER. Quote

Ariangelil Posted January 2, 2008 at 05:29 PM Posted January 2, 2008 at 05:29 PM I don't think it is a matter of "changing"... Celine is a normal human being, so she gets old just like everybody else. And of course her voice may change along the years. But I don't really think her voice has changed TOTALLY... She protects it better now, and she knows how to manage the high notes.... and as far as I know she is right. She has already proved to the whole world she can "hit" the high notes, now it is high time she protected her voice, this way she could sing all her life... Saying which was her best perfomance or which wasn't that good doesn't mean a thing... She is only a woman, who has her ups and downs, just like you and me. On the other hand, even though Mariah Carey and Whitney Houston have also had their ups and downs, their downs last forever She is... she has always been... and she will always be THE BEST singer out there.... She doesn't even need to sing anymore, she can just whisper... Quote http://img168.imageshack.us/img168/9938/fotofh.jpg

Prince Whiskers Posted January 3, 2008 at 10:13 AM Posted January 3, 2008 at 10:13 AM The best albums for me vocally are D'eux and 1 fille & 4 types where Celine's powerful voice is at its smoothest and least nasal. I think half of TCOML is annoyingly nasal, FIY is more technical than emotional, and the beltings on LTAL are screechy. As for Mimi, she lost her voice bec. of her penchant for playing too much with the melody. Quote http://cdn.webecoist.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/10/modern-pet-solo-blown-glass.jpg

Her voice isn't as strong as it was before, and it seems that her recent live performances seem a little strained and too nasal.ok if that's ur opinion, u win my respect. im just saying that i do believe celine dion still got the magic. i believe my girl can still belt that song as she used to. theres never a single time i doubted her vocal abilities. she's still the celine dion i know since i was a kid. if mariah can still sing vision of love even her voice has deteriorated, why cant celine? if whitney can still sing her lungs out to her i will always love you, why cant celine? celine never peformed that song the way she recorded it though. bluejay88 Posted June 11, 2011 at 06:41 PM Posted June 11, 2011 at 06:41 PM Personaly I prefer the FIY voice, it's very strong but still very feminime which I miss now I miss that voice too. I also think it was her best period. But it is normal that her voice is changing as she gets older. I don't understand the negativity surrounding Celine. She is super talented, has a big heart and is very entertaining. How can people not like that? I guess they are intimidated and people these days like to be critical and put people down. I think people have to be crazy not to like Celine.
