celinemaniac07 Posted December 19, 2007 at 03:30 AM Posted December 19, 2007 at 03:30 AM Ok this is seriously just not right. I went to see the show here in Los Angeles. I got my tickets for the show at a movie theater that is considered the BEST in Los Angeles. Its called the Bridge. I had heard so many great things about this movie theater and it was my first time to the theater. I got to the theater with a friend around 2. We decided to see a movie before the presentation of A New Day at 7:30. We saw I am Legend..let me tell you..the picture, sound, everything was perfect. It was loud and booming. The picture was CRYSTAL clear for the movie. I was SOOOOO excited to see celines show on the big screen at this theater in loud surround sound with crystal clear picture. It was even advertised as HIGH DEFINITION!!! I was thinking it would be incredible in HD. So we walk into the theater at 7..its not even half full yet, but people are spilling in every few minutes. They are playing some sort of custom music made specifically for the theater. I actually saw the film in a theater called a directors hall theater(known for its leather seats and surround sound and picture..thats why i chose this theater over any others in the area) Anyways the music is loud and in FULL surround sound. I was so excited and ready to hear and see this amazing show in the way it was meant to be seen. At 7:23 tons of people are filing in..then 1 minute later the show starts before 7:30. Tons of people havent even found their seat. It starts and the picture looks worse than it would on the standard dvd on an analog television! I played my dvd on one and it even looks better than it did last night! The sound..was coming from the front speakers, but NOWHERE else in the theater...and this theater was built with surround sound in mind. Believe it or not it wasnt until AFTER TYLM that people were all seated, right before IM Alive. They missed 15 min of the show because it was started before the time it was scheduled! NOT GOOD AT ALL. So with the bad picture and lame sound, it was a lousy experience. Just like many of you have said, it was great seeing celine on the big screen. In all honestly..the screen wasnt too big either. Not like some of the other screens in the movie complex. The picture constantly flickered and froze many times during the show. The entire experience was ruined. It of course was NOT the movie theaters fault..I am legend was great. Ok you get the idea, but it was not done well at all. It was a total letdown. It could have been an amazing event- surround sound, clear picture, starting on time! Boo. For those who didnt get a chance to go to the cinema to see this..watch the dvd on your tv or wait for the HD dvd next year...you didnt miss much. Quote
cannonball Posted December 19, 2007 at 04:39 AM Posted December 19, 2007 at 04:39 AM OMG everyone!!!! Stop moaning. Atleast you got to see it in the USA!, we didn't get anything like that in the UK. You guys in USA actually live in the same country that the show took place, we had to travel 11,000 miles to see the show, and they still only showed the DVD to theatres in the USA. I'm sorry, but the whole "you can't complain because you're in the US" thing is really wearing thin. We paid money to see a show, and had a bad experience so we have a right to complain about it. Our theatre didn't even show it on the IMAX, it was just in a regular theatre. The sound started off too quiet, and then got ridiculously loud. My ears were ringing during I Surrender. Despite that, I really did enjoy myself. It made me want to go back to Vegas, and made me sad that the show's not there anymore. The girl sitting next to me never got to see Celine, so it was neat to see her so excited about just getting to see the DVD on the big screen. blue.grave Posted December 19, 2007 at 06:24 PM Posted December 19, 2007 at 06:24 PM (edited) I thought I was able to go. but by the time that the movie would end I would have miss the last bus to get home. Then I wold have been SOL beside theater wasn't playing near me. I did wish that they could do a better job with this kind of thing. Well I did settle by just watching the DVD at home with my HD-TV and my 5.1 surround sound speakers. The concert was so fracking awesome!! I'd wish I did see her in Vegas. aznocazn Posted December 19, 2007 at 06:40 PM Posted December 19, 2007 at 06:40 PM I was glad to see such a great turnout for the show; however, my only complaints were that it wasn't shown on an IMAX screen, the volume wasn't balanced, and the monitor somehow wasn't bright and sharp enough. It was just dark and blurry. I thought it was me but when I asked some people, they responded the same way. Towards the end, when my eyes couldn't focus and see well enough, I just decided to close my eyes and listen instead. I think I napped during the last two songs. I love Celine dion and have been a fan for a great time, but the show that night didn't live up to what I expected it to be. I saw this is SoCal, Irvine, CA. Quote
starfire Posted December 20, 2007 at 06:11 AM Posted December 20, 2007 at 06:11 AM I saw the show in San Jose and my complaints are much the same at everyone else's. The show started a few minutes before the scheduled time, the picture was definitely not as clear as advertised (HD? Nuh uh, not at all!) and everything was so dark! Technical difficulties with the theater aside, what about the editing on the DVD everyone?!?!? Such fast cutting! I was getting a headache! Just leave the shot on one thing for crying out loud! I want to see the whole stage, not Celine here, a dancer there, a piece of the large screen there. Seriously, who let some film school freshman have at this cutting job? I daresay I could have made some better calls with my limited knowledge of editing. Sheesh. Otherwise, Celine was amazing!!!!!! I didn't get to see the show in Vegas so I'm very glad I got to see her on the big screen at least. And I will most definitely be buying the high def DVD when it becomes available. I particularly liked RDMH, that was absolutely amazing! Such energy from Celine and the dancers! Just amazing. I was unfortunately a little drugged up on vicodin that day (just had my wisdom teeth out) so I was fighting drowsiness during the showing but I prevailed in the end! Great show and I can't wait to see her live in Raleigh 2009!!! Quote
zoemobile Posted December 20, 2007 at 06:37 AM Posted December 20, 2007 at 06:37 AM Great show and I can't wait to see her live in Raleigh 2009!!! Hey, I'm going to the Raleigh concert as well! So cool.... already "meeting" other fans that will be going to see Celine when I do! Quote ~Jen ) "Once touched by pain, you're not the same. But time can heal, your heart again. starfire Posted December 26, 2007 at 10:08 AM Posted December 26, 2007 at 10:08 AM Yay for Raleigh 2009!!! I'm sooooooo glad she's coming through Raleigh, I was afraid she wouldn't, but huzzah! I think this is the furthest I've ever planned into the future. Quote

They didn’t even tried to enhanced this for a special viewing in IMAX Quote
