Prince Whiskers Posted November 24, 2007 Posted November 24, 2007 If we go by the Sony figures, it's 13M for ANDHC + 15M bet. 2003-2007 + majority of the sales for ATW. So is Celine the highest female seller since the start of the NEW MILLENIUM? Or has Britney sold more? Alicia supposedly sold 20M with her first 3 albums. I'm in the dark as to Norah's overall sales but Time magazine said before that "Come Away With Me" moved 16 or 17M copies worldwide. http://cdn.webecoist.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/10/modern-pet-solo-blown-glass.jpg

Dionesque Posted November 24, 2007 Posted November 24, 2007 Pit, of course Céline is the best selling female artist ever because of her amazing sales in the 90s but the question was av about the new millenium and I can imagine in this period she might not be the best selling artist anymore... I can imagine Britney sold out more albums in 2000s... But let's wait, maybe someone knows some exact figures! disadiva Posted November 24, 2007 Posted November 24, 2007 Mariah Carey is the best selling female artist of the 90´s then Celine follows both are the best selling female artists of the 1990´s-2000´s.So Far Mariah Carey has sold about 200 million´s albums worldwide and Celine has reach the 200 million album sales so yes Celine are today the best selling female artist in recording history. Britney Spears has sold over 83 million records worldwide according to Zomba Label Group.[7] The Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) ranks her as the eighth best-selling female artist in American music history, having sold 31 million albums in the U.S. http://i46.tinypic.com/2nvtcpl.jpg
Bellamy Posted November 24, 2007 Posted November 24, 2007 Mariah Carey has sold about 200 million´s albums worldwide is the biggest lie ever from the lambs. Even her record company never dare to claim so. Please support the forum by ordering everything through our special Amazon.com link Click here. Thank you!
Macaronie Posted November 24, 2007 Posted November 24, 2007 Celine is the best-selling female artist everThat's not zee question guhfrennnn!!
RLAAMJR. Posted November 24, 2007 Posted November 24, 2007 I think, there was an article stating that Celine is the best-selling artist for the decade and that would mean, aince it's 2007 now, they started counting from 1997. So Celine is the best-selling artist of the decade. But if we start from 2000, ( should we start at 2000 or 2001? I think, 2000 cos the past decade started 1990 and should end at 1999.) I think, it's Eminem and Britney who's leading.
Hilda Posted November 24, 2007 Posted November 24, 2007 (edited) Mariah Carey has sold about 200 million´s albums worldwide is the biggest lie ever from the lambs. Even her record company never dare to claim so. she cant have sold that close to celine surely? i mean probably one of the reasons celine IS the biggest selling female artist is because she has the equivelant of TWO careers worth of sales joined together. Her english and french careers. Its like Mariah Carey releasing two brand new albums every time instead of one. So really Celines circumstances as a francaphone have served her well! I have to be honest and say that I am not sure if Celine Dion is the best selling artist of the decade. However, I do know that Celine Dion is the BIGGEST SELLING FEMALE ARTIST IN HISTORY. That's right, NOT Mariah, NOT Madonna.....CELINE. Get it right people!!!! And as for Britney Spears, that girl cannot sing for worth s***. Why she is even considered an "artist" or "singer" is beyond me? No matter what, none of the artist throughout this decade will match the talent or success of Celine Dion.
beelee Posted November 24, 2007 Posted November 24, 2007 When we're talking about "decade," we're talking about 2000-2010, so I think Norah Jones is currently in the lead.
celine_026 Posted November 24, 2007 Posted November 24, 2007 a decade doesn't start at 00 but at 01... 2001 to 2010 http://img410.imageshack.us/img410/1098/power01eq1.jpg
beelee Posted November 24, 2007 Posted November 24, 2007 a decade doesn't start at 00 but at 01... 2001 to 2010You're right. Because the 90's already included 2000. lol But Norah should still be in the lead, since her 1st album came out in 2002.
Nikosn17 Posted November 24, 2007 Posted November 24, 2007 (edited) Put me in jail but I don't think anyone really knows who is the biggest selling female artist. Every artist put this while promoting a new album or whatever... it's just a promotion. Cause if you listen careful for example to Oprah... she once says Celine is the biggest selling female artist and after that says that Mariah is the biggest selling female artist and after that it's Madonna...and it's not only Oprah, almost everybody do this... so nobody can tell us which one is the biggest selling. At least we know which are the 3 biggest selling female artists (Celine, Mariah and Madonna). Edited November 24, 2007 by Nikosn17

LuisMa Posted November 24, 2007 Posted November 24, 2007 "1 Fille Et 4 Types" quietly went into different markets, so it quietly sold quite as more copies as expected. I remember here in Costa Rica every single record store carried that, which was totally unusual for a French album. Even supermarkets carried that title.
beelee Posted November 25, 2007 Posted November 25, 2007 2000 is not included in the 90s. The 90s is: 1990, 91, 92, 93, 94, 95, 96, 97, 98 and 99That makes more sense. But I'm so confused now.

miracle_girl Posted November 25, 2007 Posted November 25, 2007 I actually think it would be hard for other singers tocompete with celine because i cant see mariah & britneysinging in french!! and releasing and album in english every time she releases a french one!! and both the english & french are released world wide!!So i think its pretty safe to say Celine is the Biggest Selling Female artist everbut im not sure for this decade shes had 4 english albums out since 2000 but you could also include "All the way"and also the sales of albums that were released in the 90's but people have bought in the 2000's And shes had 3/4 french albums out since 2000 what artist releases 7/8 albums in 7 years????thats like one album a year! You do the maths!! http://file041b.bebo.com/11/large/2008/02/21/19/3639616524a6958591691l.jpgCeline - May 8th @ The 02! Cant Wait!! <3
