I wonder if its.. wise? that Celine doesn't know anything about this.

If you guys really wanted her to go to your city, you should have screamed louder than the one criticizing her. I feel sorry for you.

So you're saying that if the Halifax fans had really wanted Celine to come we should have fought even more to try and make her come here? Have you seen the comments in the articles. It would have been a full time job to go there and defend her in every article and for every post. I've posted several time but there was no way that the fans that wanted her here could keep up. The people posting the comments were just plain nasty and the more the fans wrote positive things about Celine or tried to they would be even worse. We did the best that we could. But when there's as many posts as there have been in the past few weeks against celine there's no way that we could have kept the positive comments. As for every positive comments there were at least 5 is not more negative ones

Oh I completely agree with you on that. It looks like nobody from Halifax was supporting her. The positive comments I saw were from people from Montreal, B.C. etc...

Anyway, I just don't understand all this negativity. My point was more to say that the fans shouldnt criticize her for not going to your city. They should understand her and support her.

In a way, It would be so cool if they would replace that show by a show in Moncton. hehehe

Up to now, I think it will be one more show in Montreal. I wont complain about that.

I hope you can see her somewhere.

he kept on interupting rene while asking the questions, hello, interviewer is the one that should interupted!

also he wanted to know too much at one time...wanting rene to repeat everything he said in english earlier and again about punishing the other celine fans...plus he kept correcting rene which was aggravating :angry2:

anyway celine or rene doesn't have to put up with this, there's more to come her way ^_^

Wow! I am totally supporting René and Céline! I'm with the earlier poster that this is the most I've heard from René since I've been a fan of Céline's (which is when she became known in the U.S.)! I can see yet another reason why Céline loves René! I am sorry that this is happening because I hate to see anyone get hurt, especially them! What an awesome couple both in their personal and professional lives. Céline is a warm, caring and generous person and she doesn't deserve this. I'm so glad Céline has René as her manager and husband. He's a very intelligent man and they have my full support! If this was happening in my city I would be FULLY behind their decision. I get tired of my acquaintances making fun of me being a Céline fan and I, of course, always defend her! I say it loud and proud that I'm a Céline fan! I think these people are actually Céline fans and for some STRANGE, UNKNOWN reason are afraid to admit it! I mean, how could anyone deny her talent???? And, her sincere, warm personality just glows from her whole body! Rock on René and Céline! Love you both!

Isn't it a shame, or quite ironic honestly, that the country that Celine was born and raised in, and in part helped her to become as successful as she is by recognizing her as a talented artist and performer, which gave her and Rene the sense to go international is now (in some areas I'm not saying all) turning their backs on her? How narrowminded of them to give her hell because she showed solidarity and patriotism after 9/11, and then chose to take residence in Caesar's Palace for five years and live in this country and start a life for her son here. There MUST be a reason why Celine has decided to stay in this country.

I completely take Rene's position as do most people on here. She doesn't need Canada anyway, if they (in general, not talking about the fans on here of course) want to treat her this way and not have anything to do with her, that's fine. She doesn't need them anyway. She's got the U.S. and the rest of the world on her side that will treat her and respect her the way she should be treated and respected. The rest of the world has their arms around her, and can't wait to take her in when she starts her tour. I hope Celine keeps her focus on the true fans, not this BS nonsense that's coming from her own country. They should be ashamed of themselves!

I actually posted several comments on several different articles that was written. yeah it would be interesting if the show was replaced by one in Montcon... a smaller city who has a much better way of promoting themselves.

Luckly the news of the cancelled show came before the Montreal tickets went on sale. So I was able to get one there.

I'm very upset that Celine has cancelled her performance here in Halifax. Maybe its because she has a concert in Quebec City the day before or is it because she feels she doesn't have to come to a smaller city to make her fans happy? I was a very big fan of Celine's. but this makes me so disappointed in her. If this city was good enough for the" ROLLING STONES" then I'm sure its good enough for you Celine. Your loss. Former Celine fan!!!!

Don't blame Celine. It is the people of Halifax who had a problem with her performing there. There is something snobby about SOME Canadians. Celine is better off performing where she is welcome.

I just finished listening to the interview and I have to say I TOTALLY agree with Rene's decision. The reporters sounded like idiots in this interview trying to imply that the cancellation was for some business reasons. I can understand how one of the reporters was saying that other artists that have played there have been criticized and they still played there and that shouldn't Celine and Rene have a "thick skin" but it sounds like there was a lot of media fueled criticism that made some people actually start to protest her coming. Celine and Rene want to please her fans, and it's sad that many Halifax fans won't see her there but when there is so much negative press and really no welcome mat at all why play there at all. As Rene said, they want to go where they are wanted, which by the way from recent ticket sales seems to be 99.9% of the other cities booked on her tour. Montreal was supposed to have only two shows but the tickets sold out so fast they added two more. And Rene mentioned Dublin selling out very quickly. It's sad that this city in her own home country (not everyone there) does not welcome her. Luckily every where else does.

Rene is an excellent manager and only has Celine's best interest in mind. If you were them would you want to go to a show that has protests? Why put up with such negative feelings. :mellow:

Hold up! Celine is loved in Canada.

Don't kid yourself; she has detractors everywhere. But, when the chips are down I have no doubt that she has a greater concentration of fans in Canada than anywhere else in the world. How many other countries does she have 6 diamond albums in?

I don't know if Celine "needs" us or not, but I'd like to think we mean a lot to her. I don't believe that she's abandoned us, and I don't believe she will. So, I don't think she shares your view.

It's interesting to hear Rene's side of it, which I agree with. :yes:

Optimistic things include the fact that after her two Montreal shows sold out in about thirty minutes last weekend they added TWO more shows. ^_^

Oh I hope there's an announcement that they will go to Moncton. I will laugh all the way from halifax to Moncton, and that's a 3 hour drive. Tal a lot of the questions asked in French are the same as in English but I can try to translate it if you like?
Can anyone make a copy of that interview. I'd like to save it but I don't know how to do it from that site.
Now if I could only meet Rene in vegas to tell him I support him.

I'm sorry for all the fans in Halifax that wanted to see her, but I think Rene made the best decision. Why should she go when people don't want her there? I mean, it's just crazy to make hater groups on Facebook and stuff... I can't believe how far this went. I understand there are fans there, but why didn't these fans made their voices heard too? Rene said he's still opened to do the concert there, if things change, so this is the time to act, Halifax fans! Write mean letter to all those stupid journalists that said she's not good enough for their city, call in to radio stations and say you want her there, ask her music to be played, go out and buy indecent amounts of her latest CDs! Do something, because right now, all Rene hears is the haters club!

On the other hand, how stupid and closed-minded can local journalists be?!!! There's a place for rock, there's a place for Celine, there's a place for hip hop and for any other kind of music. I'm sure not all those 500.000 people in Halifax are heavy metal fans. Not to mention I know quite a lot heavy metal fans with a soft spot for Celine. I love rock music too, that doesn't mean I can't like anything else.... It's just stupid. I'm sure tickets in Halifax would have sold out very quickly too. And who the hell are they to speak for an entire city? Fans, let your voices be heard!

Rene was right to cancel the show. After all, Celine has nothing to prove. If this happend 10 - 15 years ago, Rene would have gone ahead with the concert, it would have been sold out, and they would have proved she can do it. But now they have nothing to prove. They sold out shows all around the world. Fans are screaming for her to come to their city in every little city on this planet, yet Halifax rejects her.

He is so cute not to tell her all this. I love the way he's protecting her :wub: I need to get me a man like that... :msn-tongue:

I agree totally with Rene

I was going to go to this concert as part of my holiday in Halifax next year and I could not believe how negative the people were and how people would be so against Celine coming. If Halifax dont want her then she can go and play elsewhere. Just gutted I wont get to see her after July for I dont know how many years.

I really feel bad for the Celine fans in Halifax. I can't believe that something so stupid has gotten so completely out of hand. It's amazing how immature and ignorant people can ruin things for the rest of the world.

I agree with most of what Rene said. They have nothing to prove. They're not amatuers. Etc. However, there is one thing that stood out to me. I highly doubt that Celine doesn't know anything about this Halifax issue. And if I'm wrong and she doesn't I really think she needs to get her head out of the sand. When Celine goes to Canada and does spots on news shows there's a good possibility that a reporter will ask her about this topic. What is Celine going to do then? Say, "I don't know what you're talking about"? This will make her look like she has no clue what's going on in her career, not to mention it'll make her look like a Britney Spearsish person trying to act clueless about a big issue going on in her career.

I don't think Rene needs to protect her...she's a grown woman. I love Celine, but I'm sorry if she can't handle hearing people say crap about her maybe it is time for her to step off the stage and take a long, a VERY long break. She dealt with the alleged rape stuff, she's dealt with the jokes on numerous shows about Rene's and her age difference, she's dealt with living in rough times growing up. I don't think the Halifax issue is something that needs to be censored from her ears.

Anyway, I'm getting off my soapbox. LOL

The fans who did want to see her on the Commons are the ones who are punished in all of this. René is so right when he says that Céline comes to entertain and to offer people a nice evening and to have fun. Nobody was ever forced to go and see her and the media did make this happen! René is right and he is actually prepared to be more forgiving than I would be, he's prepared to come back.

I support René in this, all the way... and I think all the real fans do. :clap: :clap: :clap:
