mrladle Posted September 23, 2008 at 09:18 PM Posted September 23, 2008 at 09:18 PM Ah, my 2 cents. Show was okay. Not what I'm used to typically, for live shows. I had people pissed beside me for singing along... That was annoying. No one was into the music, just sat there, like old farts at a funeral. I will never go to another show like this again, just too big of a venue for me. I like a little more intimacy with the performer. She did tear it up though, no doubt about that. I shed a tear during the double encore... Glad to see everyone had a good time! You were singing along? No offense, but if you're singing loud enough so that the people around you can hear you...that's not a good thing. Applause, screaming, woo-ing, "I Love Yous" and ruckus after a performance are one thing but singing during....is another. (Unless she specifically asks you to, which in this case, the last verse of BYLM) Because they came to hear Celine, not you and basically, that's ruining the concert for them. Cause you're singing OVER Celine. It's no different than talking or answering your cell phone in the movie theater. Ah, its a struggle to care about other people in my perspective. I love music. And Celine happens to be an act I enjoy. I've been to over 500 live shows in 3 years... It should never be an issue to sing along. It's music. If I wanted to listen to her, I'd pop in her album, and just listen to it while I'm washing myself in the shower. But to see a LIVE act, you get to experience and feel the music, rather than just have a copy of a recording. I will sing at any concert, despite who's around me. Whether or not I sound good. If I enjoy someone, I'll sing, raise my arm, stomp my feet, and I'll even stand up and dance if I want. I don't care, I'm there for the performer and myself. And to be QUITE honest, the performer generally overpowers even the loudest talker... Anywho, not my type of show... Def. won't be going to another one. Quote

That's horrendous. ....Sorry, couldn't resist. I'm sorry, but if people around you were noticeably annoyed - then apparently Celine wasn't singing loud enough to cover you up. And those pipes were shaking the rafters. You can live in your bubble of self-indulgence and disregard but the truth is, you're not alone and you have to respect those around you. It's great that you're confident enough in yourself to not care what others think, but when it affects the enjoyment of those around you - we here call that rudeness. Just somethin' to think about. Know why I'm so passionate about this? Because I sat next to someone who sang along at a concert once, and it ruined most of the show for me. All I could hear was their voice along side hers and I was fighting to block them out and tune her in and in doing so, was missing half of what she was singing. It's just not acceptable. xo1hrt4celineox Posted September 24, 2008 at 06:51 AM Posted September 24, 2008 at 06:51 AM Sorry for the delay guys, but here's my review! Ooohmygosh, WHAT A NIGHT! The excitement of seeing Celine on tour just had such a different air than the Vegas show! I felt like there was greater levels of interaction and energy that just made it a night to never forget for me. Vocally, she was amazing, I'd say near flawless. All By Myself probably got the biggest reaction from the crowd, quite and enthusiastic and long standing ovation. The "My Love" flowers moment was priceless, and I couldn't describe it any more beautifully than already has already been done. Celine was obviously touched, and what really got to me was her speech after the song ended: she told us that the difference in the recording studio behind a microphone and trying to imagine all of us, then being on stage and still behind the microphone, and that we are the reason why she's still doing it. And that just stuck me so greatly to hear so honestly, reconfirmed in front of my very eyes, all the love and gratitude that Celine has for her fans- It makes me feel so proud and lucky to be a fan of this great, genuine artist. My personal highlights included the slightly new twist on I'm Alive, hearing Shadow of Love live, the My Love experience, and the touch of all those candles for My Heart Will Go On. You would think that people would be sick of that song, but I swear I was actually taken aback by the sheer loudness of the audience when this song started. I definitely think more crowd participation (i.e. more crazy intense people like me!) would have bee cool, but it was such an amazing show, I couldn't possibly ask for anything more Now here's the best part... when they were packing up the stage, I was about to leave but they were wheeling the costumes (from under the stage) out and then right in front of me to take them out to where ever they packed them up. SO. I was like omg, these are Celine's people, and I asked them if I could give them something to give to Celine. They were in a rush but the lady said yes and took the picture frame I had painted for Celine!! I was sooo excited! The cheerios and guitar for RC, poker chips and golf for Rene, and singing and fashion for Celine. I wanted to do something to say thank you to Celine for giving all she does to us fans and I knew there was nothing I could ever buy so... I made this! I'm just so glad she'll actually get it!! I'm going to start rambling so I'll stop now, but it was truly and amazing night for me Quote . . .Live to Love Celine Dion <3http://i75.photobucket.com/albums/i294/xo1hrt4celineox/java05.jpghttp://i75.photobucket.com/albums/i294/xo1hrt4celineox/8839047.png
ryry1982 Posted September 24, 2008 at 07:21 AM Posted September 24, 2008 at 07:21 AM (edited) I just got back from Celine's stop here in Columbus, OH. Unfortunately I was by myself as non of my friends here were willing to shell out over $150 to see her. BUT i had floor seats, and I was the closest to her I had ever been for one of her performances. It was thrilling to say the least. She never ceases to amaze me with the power of her voice. It was in perfect form. She of course looked phenomenal. I stood up for the duration of the show (there was no one behind me) - to see better. One very special moment in the show came when she sang "My Love". She explained how difficult it was to record it in the studio as it was an emotional song for her and that singing it for us tonight would show its true meaning. The stadium was dead silent. We waited. "My looove...we have seen it aalll." It was a pure sound that sifted its way through the crowd and settled around each of us - only her voice could we hear ringing through the speakers. What a beautiful sound. No instruments to mask its supple texture or shadow its rich resonance. "...The endless confession - the rise and fall..." Just before the last verse of the song, "Did you see? I could Break? Did you notice, all my mistakes? There were times, I could feel you in my mind..." Celine at this pivotal point in the song was on her knees at the edge of the stage when a dedicated woman struggled to throw roses up to her. The white blooms scattered over the edge of the platform, causing the Singer to pause. The crowd was frenzied. It was this very moment she had been singing of that presented itself to her right there and she could do nothing but acknowledge it. She just sat and smiled at the adoring fan, in gratitude and minor disbelief. She picked up the stem, closed her eyes and deeply inhaled the scent of the white pedals like it was the first time. In a bout of surrender and emotion, she threw herself back on the stage and clasped her hands together and said quietly, "Do you know that the song isn't over?" The crowd laughed wildly and she quipped, "And I thought singing it in the studio was hard..." Turning herself upright, she looked at the woman and motioned her over to the edge of the stage. The Singer wanted to return the favor and so she hugged her. In a long embrace between fan and star, Celine warmly gave her all she could, her thumb lovingly moving back and forth over the weeping fan's shoulder. It was a candid moment that you only wish to see at events like this. Something that separates this night from all the others. An unscripted, unexpected and unassuming picture of what it means to a performer to be loved. And to the fan, in return. Celine, with soggy eyes turned to the band, "I forgot which key we're in," ...and softly finished the lyric, her eyes fixed on the emotional fan, she sang the rest of it to her. "Did you know, I take the time for you? Did you know, that I could see right through? Did you know, that I would play the part? I know I made it clear right from the start." Thank you for reading... it was a memorable night. May I just say how eloquent you are? In this age of abbreviated forum speak (of which I myself am guilty), your review summed up how I felt about the night! Hearing the beginning of My Love acapella, just Celine's crystal amazing voice sent shivers down my spine. Why thanks RyRy Just trying to spread the word of Celine's love...lol And like you said, internet lingo just wouldn't cut it for this one. Where were your seats? Was this your first time seeing her? I was in the 302 section... kinda the nosebleed section but I still had an AMAZING time. One of the best parts was actually getting to share the experience with my Mom, who's always loved Celine, too. She hugged me and teared up during The Prayer. It was my first time and certainly not the last! I don't think I'll get to see her again on this tour, but would love to next time! Oh, and one other person's comments on the ovation for ABM reminded me of the sheer awe I had when she sang the acapella part in All By Myself leading into the instrumentation. That moment and also the beginning of My Love... The entire audience was silent and the only thing to be heard throughout the entire stadium was her astounding voice. Magic... Not my thing, never will be. I want to dance, do somersaults, jump, scream, throw my fist in the air, and scream the lyrics until I can't talk anymore. That's passion. Celine Fans... eh, merely fans. Just sit... and watch. and lip-sync if you're brave enough. I can do that at home, thank you. I've seen her once, and once is enough for me. Check out these links... passionate fans of these bands will make you all wimper ;-) http://www.myspace.com/floggingmollyhttp://www.myspace.com/overatedhttp://www.myspace.com/shotbaker Just a couple ;-) Quote

I am a HUGE Bruce Springsteen fan and have been to many of his concerts. There, you will find the dancing, fist in the air, singing-along atmosphere that you want. However, Celine's music isn't exactly conducive to that. I don't want to see fist-pumping and somersaults to My Heart Will Go On... autumnskies00 Posted September 24, 2008 at 10:05 PM Posted September 24, 2008 at 10:05 PM The POINT of attending a celine concert, is to hear her voice. It's completely different than the shows you are talking about. She can actually sing, and people go to these shows to see that. Not to hear you singing in the background. When you have the chance of a lifetime to see someone with a voice like that live, you enjoy the show with ears open and mouths shut. Why bother posting on here if you think you are soooo above that?
