I've searched for group Helicopter Tours and the cheapest I could get was $260 incl fuel surcharge.

 

I did find one that was $160 but they were sold out from 12 to 17 Dec

 

I'll keep searching, but it seems as if the airplane option will be way cheaper

$160 maybe is good, if it's really so much more fun. $150 lower is better. Over $250 is a bit too much.

Yeah... Too expensive for me too... Though I'd love to see the canyon closer...

I think a helicopter can't hold as many people as a plane. So maybe if we can get enough people to fill one helicopter, we can get discount price? Maybe ask the company list $160 price, if we can hire a helicopter ourselves at discount price? And maybe try to ask other companies match that price.

Our heli had place for about 7 or 8 people, I think most helicopters do. So if you can fill one, maybe they will do it at a better price. There are expensive flights, for example with lunch in the Canyon, but there also are cheaper flights. That way you just fly to the canyon and back. I really hope you guys will work it out, because it is really an experience of a lifetime!

It would be great if we can take a helicpoter and land inside the Canyon, walk around for a while and take some photos. I don't want lunch package.

If you need some help, I'll be there. I'll try to see if I can find information through my host family. As they usually have foreign people at their house they may have some information on that...
