NBC "Xmas Tree Lighting" on TV 11/28/2007

i dony know what the big deal these days about miming she neve sing thats the way it is live when the album was released and i dont remember any one complaing it aws normal!

So I did write an email to Skeery Jones about his comments on Z100 and found his reply to me to be complete BS>

 

Out of the 5 million people who check out our show in the morning, you are the only person out of 27 emails and 33 text messages I received on this topic, who actually disagreed with my opinion. Usually there are a few more.

I understand how difficult it is for you to judge fairly, though, since you are such a huge fan of Celine. You are too close to the fire on this one. So it's impossible for you to provide an objective opinion.

 

That said, the truth of the matter is that I've met Celine on 3 different occasions and have seen her perform at 4 different concerts, including one in Vegas and two at past Z100 Jingle Ball/ Zootopias. She IS an amazing singer, a fantastic woman and she has such an illustrious career. But it was a shame she didn't sing live to the nation. The country deserves better, don't you think? That was my point. Don't be fooled...I've worked in this industry for 14 years now...SHE is in charge. SHE calls the shots. SHE is responsible for her actions. SHE had final say as an artist to sing live or lip sync. I am well aware that this was a pre taped performance...even more so why she should have sang live. They could easily have edited out or started over if there were any mistakes. As far as cutting to different angles, a performance like that is usually shot once straight through (to capture the audio) and then re done several times to add the video cuts. What I'm saying is we did not hear a peep of her voice. It was taken straight from the album. I might as well just have listened to the track on my ipod. A lot of times when people choose to lip sync, there is some dancing and choreography involved making it virtually impossible to do both. Celine just stood in front of a microphone. Barring a cold or sore throat, there really was no excuse.

 

Furthermore, my on air commentary was not socially irresponsible...infact I was being COMPLETELY honest and factual with the audience and exposing a valid truth. The audience respects me and our show for just that. And let's not forget that giving opinions on top of our facts is what our show is about and why people listen to us. There are 11 of us in the studio with differing viewpoints which really make the show colorful.

 

So, I'm sorry if I offended you, but I'm not sorry for exposing the truth to our audience nor having a firm opinion about being disappointed in one of the greatest singers of all time for not doing what she's known most for....singing.

Wow what a long explanation, he does sound like he enjoys Celine. Honestly though, if he's been around

the biz that long then he should know better. Artists often lip synch on shows - that's life, that's the way it is.

I do think it was NBC that suggested the lip synch and Celine would just go along with it otherwise why would she

sing live on most shows but lip synch on some?? Yeah I know he was disappointed, so was I, I always wanna

hear her sing live on every show. He should've watched The Today Show, CBS This Morning, Oprah, or The View and he certainly would've seen her sing live. The thing with those radio people is that they always think they're right and they'll come up with anything "professional" sounding to make their point and make it seem like they know everything and people "outside" the biz know nothing. I enjoy the Z100 morning show but as long as Elvis (and I do like Elvis a lot too) is best buds with Mariah then they will NEVER give Celine any respect.

Just saw an ad that Christmas at Rockerfeller Center will be rebroadcast on Bravo. The show will air at 7PMEST December 7 ... not sure about other time zones. Sorry if this has already been posted or should have been posted in another thread.

Well besides the crap about the nation (why are americans always like that?!) I really agree with him. I can't defend lipping, fan or not.

 

And actually I am glad, in a wierd way, that there's finally focus on her lipping, hopfully it will make her think twice before doing it. Like I've said: rather a bad live performance than a lipped one.

 

BTW, what is it this guy is accused for idroveallnight?
