We actually are quite lucky to be living in countries that have an independant media and limited to (in the case of South Africa) no censorship for the media you purchase. We complain so much about the fact that Celine is poorly marketed yet we all have so easy access to her material. Maybe we should be grateful that we have access to her stuff and remember that people living under dictatorships and in countries with heavy controls can't walk into a store and get a cd the way we can.

 

I'm truly sorry about the whole situation in Iran. It truly is a shame that the governmen takes such a hard line on western culture. If I were you I would get out. People wait their entire lives for change. My grandfather waited his whole life for change here in S.A when he could easily have moved to Europe and he died before we achieved freedom, democracy and civil liberties

i am thinking about moving.and i won't really wait to much.right now i am thinking about moving to australia but it takes time

but politics totally effected our culture nowdays we are some how recovering our old roots and our culture. but it is our polititions who wants to get it from us and give us arabic culture or for what they say islamic.and some of them want to bring western culture.all of them can't see we have traditions and we have rich culture.i am so sorry that they made our country like this and gave people around the worl this view about us.

In my damned country foriegn music is banned,you can never find original CD's or DVD's here.finding them is so so hard.and even finding copies is so hard esp celine doesn't have so much fans here.and if we want to purchase a DVD or CD cos we don't have access to international credit cards here we can't buy them online. and if we can buy them and we want to get them buy post cos all sent things from another country is checked they will not post it to us because music dvd's are banned. oh my god.i only could find ACDS cd not the dvd ,all the way special and half of live in memphis here and mahyar a member of this forum found divas and all the way and a copy of a new day has come which is not complete.also finding the, was so hard . aaround one month ago i found the cover of live a paris dvd i get so delighted and ask the sales man if he has it or no.he said hs friend has it.and after one month he brought me a copy of au coeur du stade in poorest quality is possible. :cry: :angry:

That really sucks. I knew that western music was banned there, and I think that's just ridiculous. My suggestion...now I don't know if this is politcally correct but...I suggest you move to a different country where there's less oppession and you can listen to Celine all you want.

i am thinking about it.but you know the most thing that i want is a change here.i don't know how long those it take for them to understand they can't ban these things cos people will find ways to get them.like these things couldn't prevent me from listenig ,finding and loveing celine . thank god i don't live in countries like saudi arabia where women ca't drive or go to universities.i would kill myself if i had to live in such countries

if i want to move to another country i should have plan that i can live in good way there.

 

Here is a question for you my friend: Have you ever been to Saudi Arabia??? Who the hell told you that women there can't go to universities??? It's true though that they can't drive but they sure can go to schools and universities... I'm a Saudi woman and I teach girls in one of so many girls universities in the country. GOD!! How little do you know !!! AH! I forgot to mention that while I teach girls in college, I also work on my masters in Drama (English Literature-American theatre)!! YES!! A Saudi woman doing all that at the same time!!! Not only that but also a HUGE Celine Dion fanatic (also a TeamCeline member) who has most of her albums and DVDs bought here from stores in Saudi Arabia...

 

Ah!! I have to mention one TRUE bad thing about the difficulty women face in Saudi Arabia. I managed to buy 2 tickets for Celine's concert in UAE/Dubai and I hope that I could be there but afraid that I won't coz for me (a women) to travel, I have to be accompanied by a very close blood relative (with an approval from a male guardian... HELL I'm over 26 why would I need all that!!! ). Simply! A Saudi Woman is never allowed to travel alone no matter how old she is !!! So I'm on the hunt for this male blood relative (or guardian) who would be kind enough to give me 2 or 3 days of his valuable time Maybe I should get married just for this purpose

 

About the driving thing!! What really drives us (as women) crazy here is that there is absolutely nothing in our religion Islam that says women can't drive, it's only men who simply don't want us to coz they think that once we're given the chance to go as we please (or out of their sight), we'll go screwing around and bring disgrace to our families!! As if their watching eyes (or fear of them) is the only thing keeping us from going astray, they don't know that there is something called morals!! It's pathetic, isn't it?!!

But about your suggestion ! scape !!! C'mon guyz this is my country ! how could i ignore my homeland and run? never ! I'm banned from lots of things okey , but scaping's not the proper idea ! put yourself in my place ! would you leave the place that you've grown there live there work there ? I am not a nationalist but what i say is why not resisting ? why not changing the situation even if it would be so minor and hard! if it's my situation so i will stay and fight at least for myself !

of corse you're right that's what i live here in Algeria, the same case but lucky me and thanks to some friends who they live in other countries like in france who they send me from time ti time some CDs and DVDs, so we're living our fanatism on a very slim string but we do it just for our Céline that we love so much!
