I just wrote a 5 star review of the album on Amazon.com and had an idea. Everyone in the U.S. should log onto Amazon.com and write a positive, 5 star review of the album and submit it. It'll really help.

Yesterday, TC was #2 in bestseller sales on Amazon.com. Alicia was #4. Today, just the opposite. :angry2:

However, Celine and Alicia are tied with 4 1/2 stars. Celine has 1 more review over Alicia as of now, though. :msn-wink:

I bought the Wal-Mart edition and Amazon doesn't let reviews unless you purchased from them. :(

Celine Dion needs another ANDHC/OH album!
No more Taking Chances--just do what works!

I just finished listening to almost all of the album for the first time. I have not heard "Skies of LA" yet.

Personally I think this is one of her best albums. There is a balanced mix of songs and one of my favorite songs has to be "That's just the woman in me." Very bluesy, and the best part is Celine really uses her voice in a way we usually never hear it, very stripped down with raspy voice and all. I wish there was MORE of that!

Early rating: 8.5. Go Celine! :kicking:

Just don't mention where you bought your copy from. You just have to have an amazon.com log-in I believe.

Celine Dion is back and she's Taking Chances and This Time, the album is full of Surprise Surprise and she'll surely keep you under her Shadow of Love. So you better keep your Eyes On Her because she's not about to just Fade Away.

lol, i tried to be creative with the words.... anyway lov the album 5/5

I finally got my copy today  . It was amazing listening to all the songs for the first time. Until today I didn't hear anything except Taking Chances. And it was worth the wait. I LOVE the album, I think it's among the best ones she ever recorded. And I think that it's very different from any of her earlier albums.

1. TAKING CHANCES (10/10) I love it. I still didn't get tired of this song even though I heard it a million times so far :P . Now that I heard the complete album I think it was a good choice for the first single. It's among most radio friendly songs on the cd, I honestly don't understand why it didn't do so well on the charts  .

2. ALONE (10/10) Among my favorites on the album. Loving the music box at the beginning, overall Celine did a great job with this cover, although I wouldn't mind if it was a little more rockier, but still, great song. I won't get upset if this one turns out to be the second single, not because I think it will do well on charts but because I like it.

3. EYES ON ME (9/10) Celine goes oriental woohooo :w00t: . Loving the beat, you just can't stand still listening to this song. The only thing missing for me is a strong chorus which I thought was lacking here.

4. MY LOVE (6/10) It's definitely not another cheesy ballad. It's good but I didn't went crazy over this on the first few listening. Perhaps it will grow on me more.

5. SHADOW OF LOVE (10/10) This one should be one of the singles. It's perfect for playing at the clubs and is very radio friendly. I thinks it would do good on the charts around the world (well, except US :msn-tongue: ). It's Celine meets Madonna's Confessions on the dance floor :kicking: .

6. SURPRISE SURPRISE (10/10) Wow, I love this one too. The chorus is infectious, I can't get it out of my head. Nice lyrics too :thumbsup2: .

7. THIS TIME (7/10) I expected it to be one of my favorites considering all those praising reviews here but...something is lacking here. It's generally very powerfull song with great lyrics but music wise, too repetitive. I love the beginning but the chorus is too ordinary. But still, it's a very good song, just not one of my favorites and I don't think it would be good single material. It's subject is too heavy and it's not very radio friendly IMO.

8. NEW DAWN (8/10) Reading all those reviews I was sure I won't like this one but...I was wrong. Great choir, Celine's voice roars with power through the chorus.

9. A SONG FOR YOU (4/10) The weakest song on the album. Maybe I need to hear this couple of more times but honestly, I don't want to. Too boring for me, I hope she won't perform this on her tour cause it will put audience to sleep :giggle: .

10. A WORLD TO BELIEVE IN (8/10) Good old Celine ballad. I'm a sucker for this one and I don't mind cheesy lyrics esp. in the chorus. I think this one would work as a single in Japan (but not anywhere else).

11. CAN'T FIGHT THE FEELIN' (9/10) Whoaaa, is this Celine???? :w00t: I like it, it reminds me of Shania Twain (well, Shania on steroids maybe :mdr: .) If someone told me a few years ago that Celine will record these kinds of songs... :sofunny: . It's certainly an improvement over Miracle :P .

12. I GOT NOTHIN' LEFT (10/10) OMG, it's such a sad and beautiful song, I looooove this one  . Again, another pleasant surprise cause I thought I wasn't gonna like it. Who said chipmunks? Who said weird voice? I agree, the voice is a little different on the chorus but not THAT different, don't understand why it bothered so many people :hmm: . If they choose a ballad for the single, I vote for this one.

13. RIGHT NEXT TO THE RIGHT ONE (7/10) It sounds like it's taken from Brokeback Mountain soundtrack :mdr: . I understand why so many people didn't like this one. It's the one you either love or hate, you have to get into this song to really like it. I like it but it can't compete with the tough competition cause there are far better songs on the album. I'm kinda surprised Celine choose this one to be on the album, good call :thumbsup2: .

14. FADE AWAY (10/10) What to say? One of the best songs on the album. I'm singing the chorus as I type..."Once touched by pain, you're not the same..." :whistling: . They are crazy if they don't release this as single, this one rocks  .

15. THAT'S JUST THE WOMAN IN ME (10/10) Wow, she really nailed this one :w00t: . How the hell did she pull this one off? That voice, holy c...p  , amazing song. Very Janis Joplin. I got goosebumps listening to it. And another amazing song which I thought I will not like. Glad to be wrong.

16. SKIES OF L.A. (6/10) At first I liked it but it gets boring very fast, it's actually good closure of an album, just not the song I will listen the most when I play the cd.

Overall, very diverse album but every song fits there perfectly, I don't think there's even one song that doesn't belong there. If I have to choose though, I would replace A song for you and Skies of L.A. with Map to my heart and The reason I go on and put those two as bonus tracks for Japan. I'm curious to hear Let me be your soldier, I doubt that it was soo bad they decided to cut it from the album. Maybe we'll have it for the tour edition next year.

I have to say the album is really good. This is a new Celine indeed, she's recorded here some songs. "Song" as in a whole package of voice, music and words, gone is the bad habit of writing her songs that sound more like a blueprint for her vocal excesses. It's rich this album. There are

... outstanding tracks, ...

Taking Chances

+ Wonderfully addictive track, nice pop-rock riffs with Celine giving a sold interpretation

- well, it's good, nothing to add here.

My Love

+ How to make the perfect pop song: start nice and a bit guarded, gradiently develop to the climax, then burst out, slow down again. Great instrumentation, good idea to use the organ. It fits

- It's perfect. Just perfect

New Dawn

+ Praise the Lord yeah help me lift 'im help me lift 'im yeah yeah yeah gospel fever. Great, sound alive.

- Cheese-us cheese-us. It's just great

Can't Fight The Feeling

+ It rocks, yes it does. Like John Lennon said I can't fight it. It's addictive

- what? nothing

Right Next To The Right One

+ Burt Bacharach anyone? Again wonderfully thought out instrumentation, so laid back, so dreamy

- Yeah it's great yadayadayada what else do you want me to say?

Skies Of L.A.

+ Amazing. Haunting and eeriee. This shows real depth, it's like the sonic translation of a movie playing in your head. I am really surprised by this one

- no, it's good like that.

... some really good ones, ...

Alone

+ There's a certain fragility in her interpretation of the song. It comes across really well

- Too bad they didn't explore this dreamy and haunting instrumentation from the first part of the song a bit more

This Time

+ It's drama, baby.

- I'd given it 10 points, but the thing with Celine is she has to learn how to sound angry, the anger that's supposed to come across this song, it's mellow.

A Song For You

+ Like they promised in the making-of, they've kept the raw and unpretentious in-studio atmosphere for the music. Simplistic beauty

- "Just made up the words" - yup, wish you hadn't, next time think of something better. The music's just too good for that

I Got Nothin' Left

+ Can you feel the vulnerability? Because I can.

- Yes, it's just a thin line between being soulful and being pathetic. Just be careful

That's Just The Woman In Me

+ She's got the blues, she's got the blues yeaaahayayaeah. She's authentic in this one

- Can anyone explain what this song is about? My brain is confused, I'll blow a fuse

... some unspectacular ones, that you tolerate because they're harmless,...

Shadow Of Love

+ "Too many nights too many days I've hidden from the sun" nice little outburst, helps to make it a bit more interesting

- Nothing really innovative on the music side: tapping toes to repetitive beat (yes, those kind of ditties are always the addictive ones)

Surprise Surprise

+ I get the message, like it even if it isn't developped in an original way

- Yah, it's pop-rock, it's supposed to sound edgy, sorry it doesn't, sounds just generic

A World To Believe In You

+ My Love's inconspicious little sister: your every day's well executed pop ballad structure

- It's nice, nothing more nothing less.

... and of course what would your Celine album be without - tada! - the fillers ...

Eyes On Me

+ It sounds more like Beyonce than Shakira

- Don't figure out a nice piano melody and then bury it under a bland programmated beat, that's a no no no

Fade Away

+ Sorry, I was thinking about something. Well, I like Celine, it's her song. That's it

- Let's make an emotional song, let's think, yeah, lets put some strings. Woohoo, ain't we original?! Blah

So take it, enjoy it. She's back on track.

Here's my opinion 'bout TC....

1-Taking chances: I really enjoyed it and I was very excited when i first listened to it...i think it's a great song on TTWII-way but with something more and new!!! LOVE IT..but there's better on here :P

2-Alone:...wowww first listened play back and i said to my self..I'M IN LOVE!...so strong from the rough to the high's belonging to the diaphragm.....

...How do I get you alone??? so intense e deep inside! it touched me!

Okay... I just love Right Next To The Right One... I just love it... probably one of the best on the album

Equally, My Love, Fade Away and This Time are just fantastic... Surprise Surprise and Woman In Me are also favourites...

In all, this is the first album in a while that I have loved from the beginning... In the past it took a few listens before the albums grew on my (apart from FIY when I was hooked from the very first chord of It's All Coming Back To Me!!)

Anyway, if I'm honest, I was scared about this album and really expected to be disappointed... I was wrong... it's amazing...

Don't like Can't Fight The Feeling and not sure about Eyes On Me but the other 14 songs are all fantastic...

I love this album....best since ATW, glad shes finally got back to the quality of her 90s stuff.

Taking chances: Love this song, obviously im hardly listening to it now coz of over kill hahaha 7/10

Alone: Dont get me started on this - very dissapointing and bland - wheres the backing? wheres the many layers of vocals this song needs, harmonys etc, oh but they put and orchestra in?! 3/10

Eyes on me: This is AMAZING!!! Best on the album for me by a mile. Its like I'm Alive but good!

3. EYES ON ME (9/10) Celine goes oriental woohooo w00t.gif . Loving the beat, you just can't stand still listening to this song. The only thing missing for me is a strong chorus which I thought was lacking here.

I love the fact that it hasnt really got a chorus - its always changing, and just certain bits are so catchy it doesnt need one almost (so ya betta say yehhhhh) is just amazing and genius. and the verses are strong. 10/10

My Love - its actually quite good by the end....but can u be bothered to get there. haha its growing on me VERY slowly. Linda Perry is very unextrodinary here and less than noticeable 5/10

Shaddow of love - this grew on me loads! i now love it. its so 80s power pop song. 8/10

Surprise surprise - this is great after shaddow of love coz its just as good. bam one after another. This doesnt really happen again on the album. Really upllifting song (if there were bells it could be a xmas single its so xmassy) haha. (Has a Happy Xmas the war is over about it.) 8/10

This time: Its ok. Its a bit predictabvle and i think the production could me more agressive. also the lyrics, there are places she needs to pad it out with more words if you know what i mean, its like there are not enough words to fill the syllabals. Love the start tho and the end., hahha 6/10

New Dawn: Very gospal-esque like it. bit repetative but generally good. its also like she even gets so bored with singing a new day will dawn so many times that she has to vary how she sings it soooo much hahaha. every time is different. loads of vocal accrobatics. 7/10

A song for you - the obligatory 'not my cup of tea' track on every celine album - nicely sung tho and all 2/10

A world to believe in - vveeeery predictable but its growing on me like an unwanted fungi. 7.5/10

Cant fight the feeling - great sound for her 'and just dance' i love it , 8/10

i got nothing left - this was one of my initial faves but its rapidly annoyed me more and more with her chipmunk voice - at times it really freaks me out and it just sounds like shes takin the piss?? 5.5/10

right next to the right one - nice, thats about it - its that folky style isnt it reminds me of the beatlesy style. 4/10

fade away - this is great apart from the yodal voice over doing on parts like "ya have to be str----ong!" uhh! 8/10

thats just the woman in me - was blown away by this when i 1st heard it. its great i sometimes feel shes trying to be more of an impressionist in this tho more than putting a natural amount of the grit she has in her voice into it. It feels a little forced in places but its a sonic leap for celine style wise so u gotta love it and its bluesy/ rock style hits the nail on the head! 8/10

skies of L.A - beautiful beautiful beautiful pure gorgeous song!!! 10/10 its sooooo gorgeous. i can actually picture this image when i hear it- every time - smoggy city at sunset. love the lyrics they fit perfectly with the melody and image it creates in my head. something to look forward to knowing its the last song.

I have finally, FINALLY, got my album, and have had my first listen of it. And I feel like I've just run a mile, climbed a mountain, played a concerto, and founded world peace. Yes it took me freakin forever to get my album, because I thought I would buy the cheap one from amazon, save on money and use standard shipping, but trust me I will never in life do such injustice to a Celine Dion album again. NOt after this. Firstly, to get my entire overwhelming fan girl excitement out of the way, I LOVE THIS ALBUM. I FREAKING, LOVE, THIS, ALBUM AND I HEART CELINE DION to.. BITS. SMALLER BITS THAN I EVER BEFORE THOUGHT IMAGINABLE.

And now for the review, good and proper.

Taking Chances is a masterpiece. And I don't say that lightly, or subjectively. It doesn't come from the mouth of a hardcore years upon years Celine Dion fan but someone who is maybe your average joe who just very much appreciates music, and now has found something really, really worth listening to.

First off, the songs they chose to pull from this album and promote: Taking Chances, Alone, Eyes on Me, are wonderful, exquisite, pieces, and great in their own right -- but they do little to showcase what this album really is. They are definitely good choices with which to wean an audience to a new Celine however, but as far as showing off the real quality of this album, they boast far too shyly.

I will say it again -- Taking Chances is a masterpiece. Not just because of how Celine is 'breaking out' or finding 'edgier tunes' and embracing her inner rock child. No. In fact, listening to Celine sing this album, for me, as a years on years fan, was actually jarring. This is definitely not the Celine I've come to know over all these years, definitely not the same person who sung BYLM, MHWGO, or even any of her songs considered more 'risque'. This artist on this album was foreign, someone I altogether felt I was being introduced to for the first time. In each song I could for sure envision someone else singing it.. anyone but Celine. But this by no way means to disclaim Celine -- to say she didn't make the album her own.. because she did, she most definitely, and excellently did. She didn't plan to reinvent herself, or show the world a new side, but I feel like as each piece breaks down a new part of Celine and dives deeper with every song into some bare and earnest honesty within her voice, I most definitely see a Celine I have never seen before.

The songs on this album are classic. I credit every single person who worked on this album, but in particular, whoever it was that decided to put them all together in such range and variation of artistic representation of this one woman's voice. I thought I liked Taking Chances, I thought I liked Alone, I thought I was exhilarated that Eyes On Me was going to be the next single. But every next piece (and I do call it piece because just to say 'song' so crudely takes away from it) I heard for the first time, I kept wanting to be the next single. 'No this song should be on the radio!! No that one!!' And at the end of the day I decided that Taking Chances is far from its singular pieces, but its whole. Grammy worthy? I leap out of my chair, fling my arms up and say "Hell, Yeah."

There were definitely surprises on this album for me. I think probably the biggest one was "New Dawn", particularly because when the song started with "Jesus..", I was like, um What--? Uh, Who..--? And it works for me, because I'm a Christian, and I love now that I have a hymn like this sung by a beautiful voice like Celine's, but really, I never knew her to be religiously conscious, and I'm going to have to run through the boards to look for the explanation for that in just a second. Another profound surprise for me was "I Got Nothin' Left". Soon as she started singing, I was like.. "Celine.. is that you..?" And had to listen long and hard before I could convince myself it was true. I love how she's played with her voice on this album. I love how she's artistically experimented, and really decided to let loose with her instrument and hash out everything within it for all it's worth. (At this point I would like to make the minor, and only complaint about this album, which is that the vocals in TJTWIM should so definitely have been played up instead of having been left in the background of the music.) And so for my last and final surprise, very pleasant surprise, -- "Right Next to the Right One". The waltz, amazing. Celine should forever from now on, sing in triple-time. Every time that last note of the chorus turned a pitch down, my heart broke (in a good way) for reasons entirely unknown. The way the song flowed around itself and enveloped the lyrics, were perfection and I have hard core respect and a standing ovation for all the people that composed it and put it together -- this is going straight to my 25 Most Played on Itunes.

So now, ask me a question. Ask me: Would I recommend this to people? To my friends? And much as I would like to say yes, Yes, go buy that album and screw over Alicia's sales, yes go make her number 1, bloody hell, .. I won't. Because while I feel like this album is an amazing thing.. I just feel like you can't just take any random member of the public and have them like it. It's not like a Christina album.. or a Kanye album.. or an Alicia album.. or whoever it is that makes albums these days. Not to be in anyway 'elitist' or something akin to that, while I love those other albums and do/are likely to own them myself, I feel they have their popularity in a kind of 'street cred' value to their music. Celine's new album, however, is very much an acquired taste. Like caviar, or fine wine. This album is so much more an artistic collection than the kind of arrant song you'd bring to radio or to TRL. The album in its entirety definitely hints at something of a mature palette which I just feel is not meant to be something haphazardly thrown out into the masses, but something to really give an uncommon due pause to.

Yes folks, that is indeed how dam much I think this album is a masterpiece. Throw it a Grammy Right-Freaking-Now.

And my last words on this album are.. I love how the whole album grows, there is definitely a continual train from the first song to the last and I love how it develops and then mellows, (Skies of LA is an excellent song to end on, and an excellent song to put in to just allow Celine something to signify her whole career with.) and I love how the change in the mood is undisrupted and unjarring. I love Surprise Surprise -- it was always destined to be my favourite song on the album anyway from the moment it hooked me with its oh so coyly whispered first two lines.

And I think I shall end my rant now. I love this album... inordinately, far much more than I ever expected to, and have an emotional reaction to it far much stronger than I've ever had to any piece of music in my life. So I give this album something like.. 11/5 stars. Oh and, I LOVE CELINE DION.

1. Taking Chances - Nice song but it doesn't get interesting until the second chorus kicks in. And why on this planet they call earth that Celine has to sound like Avril in the bridge part?

2. Alone - This should have been the introductory single. SUPERB Ben Moody production (the best production on the album, I believe), bring-the-house-down, don't-mess-with-me-I'm-still-the-best-singer-in-the-world vocals, timeless tune, what more can you ask for? No point comparing it to the original bec. they represent different eras. I really like the fact that the remake's arrangement is rock-ish but not too rock-ish to deny Celine's vocals the spotlight. SINGLE CANDIDATE.

3. Eyes on Me - It starts really well then becomes very annoying with all those intrusive and tacky background vocals. And I wish Celine took caution not to sound too sharp. This is not "A Cause" after all.

4. My Love - Soulful rendition by Celine and amazing vocal riffs towards the end. Such great vocal control. I'd definitely like to hear an unplugged edition of this song.

5. Shadow of Love - Very enjoyable until towards the end when the arrangement was burying Celine's voice.

6. Surprise, Surprise - Not that memorable except for the chorus which is a thinly-veiled statement by Celine to her critics.

7. This Time - This song is sooooooooo OVERRATED by many on this forum. The voice of Celine doesn't particularly shine here and I wish the *break* note had more power to it. The music lacks catharsis that a song with such a serious theme must have. I daresay that the gothic voice-overs were what saved this song.

8. New Dawn - It's "okay", at least to me.

9. A Song For You - Forgettable melody but gorgeously melancholic piano and violin.

10. A World to Believe In- Finally a Celine ballad in English with a social bent. It's uplifting and I like the country-ish vibe in the verses.

11. I Got Nothin' Left - SINGLE CANDIDATE. Here we have a refined RNB ballad that flows along very NATURALLY. The slightly chipmunk-y voice gives this song its oddball appeal ( well, Celine has always had an oddball appeal LOL). Very soulful performance. I daresay that Celine's seamless vocal belts towards the end of this song are her only true-blue FIY-moments on the album, a voice soaring with power and conviction but with no apparent effort. Ne-Yo sounds really awesome in the background! He deserves to be on the music video even for that alone. And now, the worldwide MTV premiere of IGNL from........ Celine D. (don't mention the full surname LOL) featuring Ne-Yo?????? Bring it on!!!!! LOL

12. Can't Fight the Feeling - Such an exercise in tackiness LOL. Sounds ill-contrived. Oh well, at least Celine appeared to have a great time recording this thing.

13. Right Next to the Right One - Definitely one of my favorites. Not single material, obviously, but it's brimming with unassuming but compelling charm and poignancy.

14. Fade Away - SINGLE CANDIDATE. Yeah, oh, yeah!!!!!!! Strikes you right at FIRST listen, right at the funky violin intro!!!! It's such a catchy song that takes you on a cathartic journey and doesn't let go until the very end. If there's one "edgy" song to be designated as a single, it should be this one!!!! Celine, you better release this before Kelly tries to come back!!!!

15. That's Just the Woman in Me - What in the blazes happened to this song????!!!! The Celine I heard from the recording sessions was absolutely gritty, raunchy and powerful!!! What happened?!! I suspect that certain people thought it best to artificially smooth out Celine's vocals. What a shame.

16.Skies of LA - Boring, boring, boring. But Celine's voice is soulfully smooth.

From Eyes On Me, to New Dawn, to Can't Fight the Feeling, to That's Just the Woman in Me, this album is VERY diverse. Do you guys think this hurt the album as a whole?

I like the album, but it would've been interesting to see what the album would've sounded like had she stuck with one unified sound.

No. I think it's great like that! An album should be with somekinds of music sometimes, especially he got 16 (Or 18) songs!

It didn't hurt it for me. I liked every single song you just mentioned. I hope others that may have not given her a Chance (pun totally intended) previously may give the album a listen and connect with a song or two.

I love the album.I think it's her next best ever(I think her best were "Falling into you").

My favorite song on the album is definitely "Surprise Surprise".I love the end-where her voice kind of breaks...and the ´refrain is very catchy...

I also love "I got nothin' left" because I think her vocals are fabulous and the best in this song...especially in the end...

I love "The reason I go on" because it's the kind of ballad that made me like her in the beginning-and I've missed a really good ballad from her lately-and now I finally got one  Also "A world to believe in"...

The first time I heard "That's just the woman in me" I didn't really like the way her voice breaks-but now I love it and it's perfect for the song and her voce is suppose to break like that...every time I listen to it I like it more and more...

I love "Right next to the right one"-it's simple and real and I love that.

Overall-I love all the songs...

Hi

Sorry that I pick this topic again, but I hadn`t discuss the album on the forum, yet.

Let`s see:

1. Taking Chances 10/10 - a very good song, a little bit rockier from Celine.Reminds me to the todays rock music(ex.Sunset Avenue). It`s ashame that it hasn`t that succes :angry2:

2. Alone 9/10 - a good cover, but not as good as the Heart`s version.I like when the guitar mixes with violins.Agood single choice, but God , how many covers are going to single.

3. Eyes On Me 10/10 - a very catchy song, I like the 2 different backgrounds.I hope to do a duet with Delta, when she'll arrive to Australia

4. My Love 10/10 - a fantastic song (I adore Linda  ) like the guitar playing. From some reasons it reminds to In his touch.

5. Shadow Of Love 10/10 - a great tune.I hope if she'll do a clip, she will play with guitar, like in her shows :glare:

6. Surprise, Suprise 1000000000/10 - its my favourite from this album and my second, after Just walk away. It`s fantastic, like the rhythm, the bridge, her voice, the instruments, everything.

7. This Time 6/10 - not well produced. It wants more guitarpaying, maybe a solo. And veeeeeery short. And I dislike the voice from the beginning and at the the and of the melody.More guitar !!!!!!!please. This is a rock-ballad.But I like the lyrics

8. New Dawn 10/10 - Excellent, I was alwas praying that Celine will do a gospel melody(after Call the man). And that guitar solo(like Chris Rea`s playing).Again Linda

9. Song For You 8/10 -beautiful melody, beautiful instruments, but not my type.

10. World To Believe In 1000000/10 - again a fantastic song, I like when she begins every verse. And the lyrics

11. Can't Fight The Feeling 10/10 -rock baby let`s rock! But it needs moooooore guitarplaying, a great solo.

12. I Aint Got Nothin Left 4/10 - I don`t like her voice, the refrein are a little repetitive, don`t like Neyo, that melody is not for her

13. Right Next To The Right One 9/10 - agood one.A saw Celine on concerts to stay down on the margin of the stage with a guitar and play the melody umplugged.A great idde, isn`t it?

14. Fade Away 9/9 - a great rock melody, but alittle bit slow and SHORT! a guitarsolo ?nowhere?

15. That's Just The Woman In Me 10/10 - One of the best.An onstage song.I hope she`ll doing.

16. Skies Of L.A 2/10 - the lyrics are good, but the instruments to, but i don`t like how Celine is singing this "melody".Or maybe Celine had eated when she sang this?BORING

17.Map to my heart 9/10 - a very good one, I like the solo(at least), but don`t like like how the rhytm, everything is going up before the solo, and her voice to.

18.The reason I go on 8/10 - beautiful melody, but not well produced to.a little bit short.

This album is my second favourite after Celine Dion.

Great job

omg i've been in this forum for almost 2 months now and i didnt know this review thread existed. lol here's mine:

TC- not one of my faves here, but its the best way to start the album.

A- this is the perfect 1st single. i love it, but not my favorite.

EOM- not my type of song. but its OK.

ML- one of the best tracks here. but its a usual celine ballad.

SOL- a good uptempo song. but nothing special.

SS- very kelly clarkson. but i love this song!

TT- great message, great beat, great intro!

ND- boooooooooooooooooorrrrrrrriiiiiinnnnnnnngggggggggggg!!!!!!

ASFY- its slow, but i love it.

AWTBI- this song is forgetable, a filler.

CFTF- kinda reminds me of YOUR LIGHT. great song!

IGNL- my favorite song! love neyo's backing voice

RNTTRO- cool folk song. i love it.

FA- again, very kelly-ish. but this song sounds very youthful.

TJTWIM- not the typical celine. this is the big chance celine took.

SOL.A.-slow, but pretty good song.

TRIGO- not included in my cd but i heard this song many times. pretty good, but this is the usual celine.

MTMH- good they excluded it on the regular editions.

THIS IS ONE OF HER BEST ALBUMS EVER! 9.5/10

I love this album!

My favourite is "Alone, Eyes on Me, and Fade Away"

I like this album the most because it's like she said, it's very edgy and different!

Alone is an AMAZING re-make. Much better than Heart's version!

I LUV CELINE~~~!

"...It's the circle of life. You gotta look forward. Two days during the year there's nothing you can do about: yesterday and tomorrow. Today is a great day." - Celine Dion, People.

I bought the Wal-Mart edition and Amazon doesn't let reviews unless you purchased from them. :(

That's odd. I reviewed tons of items before I ever bought anything there.

After 4 moths, I feel mature enough to provide a very objective opinion, I `ve listened carefully to each song and I feel ready to criticize each of them, as a fan, but also as a musician.

First of all, I`ve go to say I like the risk Celine took in this album, market needed something different from her. Sadly , sony did n ot do their work as they should, so this album is better than what selling numbers says, but never better that other Celine efforts made previously. I also believe that this album is paying former mistakes made in "one heart" and miracle instead of being bad itself. I still feel some rushing in production, but obviously better production than One heart and Miracle. I must make clear that it is far away better than the overall successful albums these days....

1. TAKING CHANCES (8.0/10) I like it. It`s fresh. But, I would never promote myself using something sombedoy already did, at least the same exact way. What I say is that the first single , and the first song is exactly the same way kara sang it before.... It is a good song, but nothing we have not heard before, it is not outstanding. In this hip hop days, pop&rock songs most be outstanding if they want to be succesful.

2. ALONE (7.0/10) Good perfomance with no effort. Again: "nothing we have not heard before", Should never have been number 2 on the album neither 2nd single. Rcky and edgy.

3. EYES ON ME (8.0/10) Ther`s something missing here, I would say the producer failed. I do not know if it is the tone of Celine or if she is screaming to much. I like the live version of the song a lot more.

4. MY LOVE (8.8/10) This song is great, Itps dark but honest, the voice is in its right point. Very emotional and deep, I like the production. A totallly different kind of ballad.

5. SHADOW OF LOVE (9.25/10) This one of my favorites, but should never be asingle , it is too "poppy" ! BUT, It should have had at least 10 re mixes and release them as a pack single.

6. SURPRISE SURPRISE (9.5/10) Another must have. But I still need to hear Celine´s voice a little bit more and honest, I need more guitars and less sounds there, I need a semi tone less at the end of the song .

7. THIS TIME (8.5/10) Great song, great lyrics and music original, but maybe too repetitive. I think the prducer failed in getting a more powerful and rocky song. Celine sounds great and emotional.

8. NEW DAWN (7.5/10) I like it, but I do not cosider it as a right choice for an album (at least this one). I don not know what is lacking here...

9. A SONG FOR YOU (4.5/10) Dark song, original, I like it a little bit, I do not like the production of this song at all.

Should not have been on the album.

10. A WORLD TO BELIEVE IN (8/10) Classic Celine ballad. I am not conviced about this high tones , I think they sound a little too high so it becomes uncomforttable. But it is good, made to satisfy all fans. Production could have been better.

11. CAN'T FIGHT THE FEELIN' (9/10) Great, The kind of song should have been on this album. Sadly, at this point most of critics are bored and stopped listening the album. Should have been number 5.

12. I GOT NOTHIN' LEFT (7.0/10) Weird song, absolutely different, I hated it a the beginning, but now I like it a lot more , I am not convinced about the pitch on Celine´s voice. I like background chorous.

13. RIGHT NEXT TO THE RIGHT ONE (5.9/10) Good song as a B-Side. Should have never been on the album, I does not fit on it at all. Map to my heart should have been here.

14. FADE AWAY (10/10) The best songs on the album. Please release this as a single !!! with a very well produced video with Celine driving violent through the city. PERFECT, PERFECT , PERFECT !!!

15. THAT'S JUST THE WOMAN IN ME (8/10) I do not like it, I wonder if should have been on the album. I know Celine love this one so that`s why it is on the album.

16. SKIES OF L.A. (5/10) Boring song, I do not like it, weird and not comprensible. Always Skipped. I don´t like Celine`s voice here, Bad production, Should have been out of the album.

I thik that most of albums these days have 10 - songs. This album would have been perfect with a little more effort in production and with 3 songs less and Map to my heart added. I wish it reaches to sell 6 millions of copy, but... if just sony worked for something...

Bravo Celine !!! My hard working girl....

I need someone to loves m like Celine loved René... And just like she sang in LTAL track # 16, I ask for that exact same thing

as a die hard fan of celine and after living with the cd now for some months i have to say its not one of my faves..

i defended it when it came out bought additional copies brainwashed some friends...supported the singles and am going to 3 concerts...so i have done my fan bit....but this cd leaves me wanting less of celine and not more.i do like some of the songs but in the past i liked nearly all her songs..i prefer the more romantic pop songs be they happy or sad...there was a quality in them that is not here on this cd...maybe its the production qualities?? maybe its the song choices or maybe its just that when celine is singing them she is in her robot form her vocal performance seems empty....or she over does it singing them hard with no warmth ....and that seems to be at odds with the celine we have known in the past..i think she needs much stronger producers to rein her in and also push her harder where needed...and not someone who is just interested in a pay cheque!

some songs on it that are the best in my humble opinion

cant fight the feeling .....8/10

shadow of love..............7/10

my love........................7/10

surprise surprise............7/10

fade away.....................7/10

taking chances (jason nevins mix) 8/10...this mix should have been released!

scrap the rest of the songs record some new stronger songs and get the rerelease in sept promoted properly

cant see it happening though.....

seems as if celine is losing interest and yes her priorities have changed but its disappointing that this is what she gives us.... to me its well below par we should expect better from her and so should she of her producers and songwriters.

love doesn't ask why

speaks from the heart and never explains

dont you know that love doesn't think twice

it can come all at once or whisper from a distance
