I love this album!!!!!!!!!!!!! Love it!!!!!!!!!!

 

One think I haven't gotten yet.. WHY why Map to my heart is not there? --- Only on the Jp version.... Map to my heart is so good! Should be a main song! Instead of Right to the next one.... It's just a 'cute' song ... in my opinion, it's very weak.

 

Shadow of love is so so so good!!!!!!!!! LOL I just love it!!!!!! I love most of the songs>: TC, Alone, Eyes on me (love it!), Surprise surprise, World to believe (beautiful!!!), My love, Fade way, Can't fight this feeling, New dawn, I got nothing left....

 

My less favorites are: a song for you, right to the next one, that's just the woman in me, this time and a song for you due to its sadness, it's melancholic . Though I understand the importance of This time

 

I'm not sure about sky in L.A yet.

 

But that's just the women in me is just that I need to get used to Celine's voice on that song.

 

Overall this album is and I cannot wait to have it !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

 

I preordered the DELUXE verison on iTunes... and Map to My Heart is on there... the DELUXE version....

I read a lot of the other's reviews, and for the most part, I agree. What I really love is the diversity in this album.

 

TC: excellent song but too bad it sounds like Kelly Clarkson already recorded it. Good first single to introduce the theme of the CD (taking chances)

 

Alone: I agree with the people who say it shouldn't be a single. HEART already made their mark. It is an excellent cover, and maybe it will be a hit with the teens? lol

 

EOM: ditto TC except with Sharkira. I can just see Kathy Griffen "What, does Celine have Shakira locked the basement to take songs from?" oh well. It will be HUGE in [canadian] clubs. I would know. haha

 

My Love: Great ballad, her voice is excellent. Great wedding song. Sounds a bit like Elton- I think its great for this album

 

SOL: I don't think this sounds outdated at all, sounds fresh and perfectly done. I hated it when I heard the 55 clip, but I'm in love with the full song. Great NEXT SINGLE

 

SS: vocally it is beautiful but it's so cliché kelly clarkson (are we seeing a theme?)

 

This Time: Wonderful song with a great statement. I'm not sure whether it will be a single, and if it is I dont think it would be a huge hit.

 

New Dawn: obviously this isn't a radio song but I can't remember hearing this range in celine's voice. someone said it reminds them of Annie Lennox. Great to see her do a song like this (although at first I thought it was going to be, basically, a cover of a New Day Has Come)

 

SFY: I was horrified when I heard the recording sessions, I thought, what a beautiful melody with such crappy singing. But the magic of production has come in and now it's the most beautiful song on the album. No radio for this, but great classic celine.

 

WTBI: I hate it. her voice is too strained (like in si j'etais quel qu'un) cliché all the way, not good for the album. But who knows, maybe couples will like it... Im just pissed it made it to the album (instead of, you know, map to my heart)

 

Can't fight this feeling: I HATE THIS SONG! Why do people like it? its country! gahhh. All I think is, "no living without lovin' you" all over again. if this is a single I will never support celine dion again. and I'll trash talk her. lol

 

I ain't got nothin' left: dispite the fact that she never actually says "ain't" in the song, I think its pretty good. not single material, and not the best on the album, but it's contemperary and that makes me happy.

 

Fade Away: I don't like the parallel melody in the beginning, but I LOVE when it picks up. from the first 30 seconds after it is total SINGLE MATERIAL

 

Woman in Me: Amazing. Not single material, its too dated, but no one has heard celine like this (didn't she say she cried when she heard how amazing her voice sounded?) This probobly the best song for Celine on this album. So different (in a good way). GO CELINE!

 

Skies of LA: hands down my favorite on the album. I understand why others don't like it, it isnt for everyone.

it's like a contemp. version of I Remember LA. The metaphore is just so classic and applicable. Love it! with the way the music's done (esp. with ne-yo) it could be a SINGLE

 

Again, I'm so impressed with the diversity of this album. I think its a huge step for celine, and it is the best english album since FIY (i'd give it the same score as LTAL)

Taking Chances

 

1. Taking Chances (Kara DioGuardi, Dave Stewart) 04:07

Rating: 7,5

I remember that when I heard the song for the first time I really thought that it had a catchy tune and really a rocky feeling to it. It felt really different for Céline at first but now after listening to the song it’s just like she’s always sang like this. It’s a really radio-friendly song and it makes an understatement about this album and where Céline is in her career. I like the beginning in the lower registers of her voice building up to her soaring high notes.

 

2. Alone (Billy Steinberg, T. Kelly) 03:23

Rating: 7,5

When I heard that Céline was going to record this song and that it was a cover I started listening to the orginal version of Heart. I have to say that the Heart version in my opinion is the better one. The first half of Céline’s version is great but the second half where Céline should be building a climax of raw power and emotion she kinda gets stuck. The “aaaaaah” scream just doesn’t seem full enough. Céline of course gives her own spin and does wonderful but she can’t seem to grab the emotion and power that Ann Wilson does. That’s why I hope Alone won’t be the next single, because she will be compared.

 

3. Eyes On Me (Delta Goodrem, Kristian Lundin, S. Kotecha) 03:53

Rating: 8

Really different from what Céline has ever done before. I think it’s really refreshing and I love the rhythm and the melody. I love the fact that even though the song is so different from everything she’s done before and still Céline stays true to who she is. Her soaring higher notes are incredible. The song is catchy and modern and I think it could do very well on radio! Single please!

 

 

4. My Love (Linda Perry) 04:08

Rating: 7

Beautiful song, I love, love, love the bridge. Classic Céline Dion if you ask me. I also love the build-up in unexpected places. Ending seems to me a bit sudden.

 

5. Shadow Of Love (Aldo Nova, Anders Bagge, P. Sjöström) 04:10

Rating: 8

Just imaging this at the upcoming concerts make my heart jump with joy, it’s a great up-tempo song, incredibly catchy. I LOVE it!!

 

6. Surprise, Surprise (A. Howes, Kara DioGuardi, M. Harrington) 05:14

Rating: 8,5

Extremely catchy song, happy. I think it will sound incredible live!!!! It will really make a beautiful ambiance.

 

 

7. This Time (Ben Moody, David Hodges, S. McMorran) 03:47

Rating: 9,5

Ultimate respect for Céline for taking on this song, to me the most meaningful on the album and with a beautiful message of support, courage, strength and hope. Powerful, emotionally perfect and sincere and vulnerable in the right places. Job well, well done Céline! Single pleaaaaase!!

 

8. New Dawn (Linda Perry) 04:45

Rating: 7,5

Beautiful song, serene, calming, soothing. A little gem on it’s own.

 

9. A Song For You (Aldo Nova, Anders Bagge, Robert Wells) 03:27

Rating: 8,5

The melody of this song is exquisite, it’s a song that could shut up an entire audience and that could capture them breathlessly. Céline’s voice blends in seamlessly and she carries it beyond. Beautifullll.

 

10. A World To Believe In (L. Gold, R. Ciciola, T. Izzo) 04:08

Rating: 9

Céline as everyone knows her but more mature and stronger than ever. Beautiful melody, strong lyrics. I love it.

 

11. Can’t Fight The Feeling (Aldo Nova) 3:51

Rating: 8

Rock, raw and raging guitars, love this other side of Céline that the real fans know but that the lager audiences aren’t so familiar with. Love the song, catchy and a great sing along!

 

12. I Got Nothin’ Left (C. Harmon, Ne-Yo) 04:20

Rating: 10

My favourite on the album, incredible melody and lyrics and superb vocals by Céline. Lots of feeling and emotion and perfect, perfect single material. This one screams single...I beg you Sony

 

 

13. Right Next To The Right One (T. Christensen) 04:10

Rating: 7,5

Céline makes this simple song her own and gives it a flair that beats the orginal version by a million. It’s quite different from the other songs but it leaves me with a warm, fuzzy and beautiful feeling.

 

14. Fade Away (Aldo Nova, D. Stenmarck, Peer Astrom) 03:17

Rating: 9

Great up-tempo song, should be a single!!!!!!

 

15. That’s Just The Woman In Me (K. Rew, L.Gold) 04:33

Rating: 9

Raw emotion, Céline like we never heard her before. The hoarse voice sounds incredible sexy and soooooo cool. I love it, I believe it!! Soul baby.

 

16. Skies Of L.A. (C. Stewart, Terius ‘The-Dream’ Nash, T. Harrell) 04:24

Rating: 7,5

Beautiful soothing, love her voice, great song to close the album.

Personal Single Choices: Eyes On Me, This Time, I've Got Nothing Left and Fade Away

 

Great great album, I love the diversity of the songs and the incredible quality of the songs. The arrangements are grande without being over produced and the music is incredible. Céline explores every aspect of her voice and what the real fans already knew for years has finally been captured on a record. I can't wait to have the album in my hands...I am so proud!!

I love this CD, its very diverse and reminds me of her older works, where there was more variety.

 

My favorite is still a World to Believe In...this song is the reason I fell in love with Celine's voice so many years ago. No, it shouldn't be a single, but it'd be great for a movie.

 

I also am just as in love with Fade Away, Shadow of Love, and Eyes On Me...all very good choices for singles.

 

There are some songs that aren't my favorites, but I am sure they will grow on me.

I freaking LOVE this album. I just wish the TC page didn't releoad every five minutes and stop the track just when I'm grooving out!

 

Fade Away is my current favorite. What's odd about this album is out Kelly Clarkson is sounds. I guess if you put Celine Dion and rock and roll in a blender you get yourself a Kelly Clarkson. Not that it's a bad thing. The album just has that same upbeat fun vibe that Breakaway had. That's really how they need to sell it.

I was playing the new album in the kitchen this evening whilst I was making dinner and my husband asked who it was. When I told him he was gobsmacked and thought it didn't sound like her and was 'a bit raunchy for Celine'.

 

So there you have it, official confirmation that it's going to be a hit.....from a man who doesn't particularly like her!

i adore Right Next to the Right One. Her voice is so pretty. Not harsh. And that's my favorite singing that Celine does....well, other than the I Surrender, blow us all away type of singing.

I'll give my opinion on those songs I've liked best so far.

 

That's Just The Woman In Me: This is definitely my favourite song on this album. I think this song should've been track number one, and the first single. It is just so amazing.

 

Alone: Another great song on this album. This is what "Taking Chances" represent. Celine did a great job.

 

I Got Nothing Left: After I've listen to it a couple of times, I've fallen in love with this song. Celine sings in such a special way, almost unrecognizable, which made it great.

 

Right The Next To The Right One: This is a song I've loved since Tim Christensen recorded it in 2002. I was very surprised when I read that Celine was recording it. She brought the song to another level without making it to something else than it originally was.

 

Fade Away: Another song which represent the whole "taking chances" part of the album. I love it.

 

Shadow of Love: A breakthrough for Celine in the right direction!

 

The Reason I Go On: Judging by the Recording session only, this song is already one of my favourites. Can't wait to hear the whole song in HQ.

I have yet to hear every track (thanks to my less than stellar internet connection) - but can I just say --- WOW!!!!! I have never been more proud to be a Céline Dion fan! “This Time” is just --- oh my God! I am also in love with “Can’t Fight the Feelin’”! Finally Céline is letting out the inner rocker we all knew she had inside of her!

 

I do have to agree with Tati - why isn't "Map to My Heart" on the album? I LOVE it!

all i have to say is - forget about "eyes on me" , "this time" has to be the second single - it's her strongest song since "i surrender" and it will be a huge waste not to release it

 

"eyes on me" sounded much better in the studio - i didnt like the arrangments they made with this one , celine's voice is so strong there yet with the music and everything it just sounds boring .

 

"a song for you" sounds so much better with the new arrangments - it's a real treasure , no doubt about it . "fade away" is another great number and would make a great single too - her high notes there r just

 

"can't fight the feeling" - when i heard her recording this song in the studio i wasn't sure i'd like it but the final version is pure fun , such a great song . "shadow of love" - no doubt there is a potential there for commercial success too .

 

on the other hand there r few songs that i thought would be much much better based on the 55 sec clips . for instant i thought "new dawn" will be one of my favourites but it's not , maybe i need some more time with this one ."my love" also sounded like something promising and for me it's just boring .

 

overall - it's a great album and i think i need more time to fully appreciate it . no doubt it's her best album since she came back tho

TAKING CHANCES (8/10): Good song, nice interpretation. Maybe not the best choice for a single, but a good one still.

 

ALONE (8/10): I'm glad she covered this song. It could have been better but it's still a very powerful take. It works well as a hook for the rest of the album, but please, not a single!

 

EYES ON ME (9/10): One of the best songs in the album. It's like coulda woulda shoulda but less corny. It might.. be a good choice for second single, but celine will need take some chances -herself!, not a stunt dancer- with the video.

 

MY LOVE (6/10): I don't care for this song. It sounds as if she was improvisating the melody.. and her voice sounds too nasal

 

SHADOW OF LOVE: (7/10) I thought is was gonna be better. It's "REVEAL" v.2.0 .. her voice doesn't stand out either.

 

SURPRISE, SURPRISE (8/10): I really like this one. Don't you think the guitars -and even the choirs in the end!- sound like "happy xmas war is over"? lol. I totally love the last chorus, her voice soars awesomely.

 

THIS TIME (9/10): Great song, very innovative for Celine. You can really feel it in her voice. There is something about the arrangements that doesn't fit.. they should have been heavier. I really think Celine should release this as a single, even if it is not a sure success.

 

NEW DAWN (9/10): WOW, the voice!! reminescent of the old celine! I almost feel I'm listening to a 10-year old recording. I only regret the song itself is not especially brilliant. However, the soulful feeling is amazing.

 

A SONG FOR YOU: (6/10): very nice song, but her voice .. -sorry to say this- sounds awful.. strained and nasal.. Miracle keeps on haunting us!

 

A WORLD TO BELIEVE IN (7/10): It happens the same as with I know what love is. The song is pretty good, but she can't avoid sounding nasal and not as strong as she could.

 

CAN'T FIGHT THE FEELING (8/10): Yeaaah Celine! I want more songs like this! I still like better the first part than the chorus. hehe I love the way it sounds like celine's first JJG songs! (j'irai ou tu iras). BTW, I totally love those high notes in the end.

 

I'VE GOT NOTHING LEFT (4/10): I HATE this song. What the heck did they do with her voice??!!! Not only did she sing as nasal as she ever did, but they overpitched her voice (yeah, for those who doubt, I have the proof). I'm sure I'll be skipping this one.

 

RIGHT NEXT TO THE RIGHT ONE (9/10): early Shania!!Lovely!! I'm glad celine REALLY took chances with this one.. it's so unlike her! One regret: I would have kept just the guitar in the entire song.

 

FADE AWAY (7.5/10): was this meant for Kelly Clarkson? lol. Not my style, but I have to admit it's single material. Her voice sounds pretty decent.

 

THAT'S JUST THE WOMAN IN ME (10000/10): OMG tha song!!! The production is flawless. wowww. Dunno why they underpinned it that much leaving it for the end. I risk saying it's the only song recorded by celine after 1997 that deserves a place on FALLING INTO YOU (celine's ultimate masterpiece). She's utterly possessed, her voice soars and cries passion and soulfulness. How the heck she did that??!!!!

It made my year.. my decade.

 

SKIES OF L.A. (7.5/10): soothing one.. you really need if after listening to the previous bomb. A pity they pitched her voice a bit.

 

 

 

 

OVERALL I think it sounds more oneheartish than I was expecting. However, it beats one heart thanks to some great standouts that the former lacks.

Great job by Celine. I guess we won't have the old Celine anymore, but we can still get some traces of her once in a while! (TJTWIM, TJTWIM.... !!!!)

For me Taking Chances is the best CD done by Celine! Coz I think this album represents her ideas and emotions kept for so long! She won't disappoint us! Never! I love u Celine!
