We must do what we can to support sales- trying to download it through iTunes where we can and buying copies for friends and relatives in this crucial first week...has everyone pre-ordered???

 

I dont like it when fans do this - its un-representative. If it does well i want it to do so because it does well, on its own, not that fans are buying 5 million coppies and downloading it for no reason but to get it higher up the charts. Im sure Celine wouldnt want that either. Dont turn into a cliff richard fan. haha

the competition will be with lewis and spice girls and even though we cant compare lewis to dion or spice girls to dion but i think we should do it so we can know the pros and cons of her album and promotion etc...

I don't think Celine will get to number 1 in the UK upon release. The important thing with this album is the longevity of it. It has to sell well for months and not just a few weeks upon release. Sony are planning a marketing blitz in the press, on the radio and on TV and they must be commended for that, it will help sales. But Leona, The Spice Girls and so on are all getting their singles played countless times across the country every day and with that comes the chance of them getting to number 1.

 

Celine will sell well and will most definitley chart inside the top 10, but for me it's important this album sells well long term.

I, for one, have never heard of this Leona chick. I once knew and old lady at my hometown's nursing home named Leona and she used to flash people. It was NOT pretty.

 

The UK charts have always been a mystery to me. It wasn't easy for Celine to ever top the UK's charts until "Think Twice." I guess most charts have stars that are here today and gone tomorrow topping.

 

Promotion has been totally lukewarm for this album. Online it's been classique, other than that so far it's been Miracle-esque.

For me the biggest competition will be against Spice girls! People used to love them in the past and now with their coming back, they'll sell like water (Don't even know if this expression really exists in English but... )

 

If Céline gets to the top, they will be for sure an obstacle...

I think she will come back strong. It is already confirmed that Britney will debut at #1 in the United States with 365,000 copies sold its first week. I'm not sure if Celine will surpass this, but being on Oprah will be a big step toward achieving that.

If 'Miracle' can get to #5, then 'Taking Chances' can easily climb up to #1.

I hope it gets to the top tens at least here in Canada.

The November 12 chart week is going to be the biggest battle on the year with albums.

 

We have to remember that Westlife and McFly are both releasing albums this Monday and will still be charting quite high next week. Amy Winehouse also releases a special edition of B2B and its still very popular in the UK.

 

It's going to take a lot to beat Leona though. She will sell at least 150k - 250k first week.

 

The Spice Girls are releasing 3 formats so thats in their favour aswell.

 

Celine, to be honest, hasn't really had much promo in the UK at all. The X Factor will have helped big time though and this Diva show on Saturday is being promoted every hour so she'll make top 5 for sure.

Leona`s single is good but I don`t expect the whole album to match up to it.

I`ve never understood why the Spice Girls are so big in this country, but they are. I know stax of people that are going to their concerts, even though when I ask them why, most don`t have a clue

didn't know Leona before, much more familiar with Shayne Ward 'cause he came here last year to promote his debut album.

just listened to Bleeding Love, it's a good single, but technically speaking, her vocal ability is obviously not as excellent and flawless as Celine's, although her voice sounds really good.

I think the reason why she's so popular right now is just because she's still young and fresh to audiences~~
