Celine on UK press - "Taking Chances" coverage

Urm, the Daily Mail IS a tabloid and even worse than The Sun or the Mirror in my opinion.

 

Anyway who cares if she has smoked weed. God, people.

 

Only for its politics. It's a "tabloid" by what we, in the UK, think of as a tabloid... The Mirror, The Sun, The Express, The Daily Mail. But it's not the kind of tabloid that they have in the US... Like The Enquirer, the Star etc. My point is they aren't in the habit of making stuff up just to be all "Oh Celine Dion did drugs!!! Shock!!! Shock!!!" like a US tabloid would be. Especially in the supplement magazine.

 

The Daily Mail is what is known as a "black top" tabloid. It's not gutter press. But it is full of crap because it spews Tory nonsense. It's not sensationalist like other tabloids, but it most certainly is prejudice and xenophobic and should be avoided at all costs.

 

What news papers do you read

Of course the news papers in the Uk wouls spice up a story just to get a reaction!!

 

I read the broadsheets, honey. I'm too intelligent for the fodder-filled nonsense that is The Sun, The Mail, The Mirror, etc.

 

And yes The Mirror and The Sun would spin a story. And the Daily Mail would spin a story if it was featured inside the main paper but not the supplement because, what's the point? Half the people don't even read it. And as I mentioned earlier on... I know how newspapers work.

 

But anyway, who really cares? Hardly anyone read that article last week because about 3/4 of the supplements from the Daily Mail last Saturday were not delivered to newsagents and supermarkets with the main paper. So the majority bought the paper without the magazines inside and so didn't get to read that boring Celine article.

Celine has smoked a cigar....I also heard that interview with BBC2 Radio.

 

And who the hell cares that she tried pot once.....its not like she had a whole spiff people....it was a puff.

 

Good grief no wonder Celine is so worked up about this new album.....she doesnt want to disopoint this perfect image that she has that is bloody false in the first place cos no one in the world is like that. But you people take what she says for fact all the time. yes she doesnt like smoke around her but she has tried a cigar - also fact!

 

I dont care if she did pot or not.....in fact I would prefer she had tried it cos then it makes her more real in my eyes cos she did something which A LOT of people have tried. And like me, it did nothing and havent tried it again. I'm not a drggie nor am I a bad person and so it doesnt make Celine either. It makes her NORMAL!!!!

TV cheifs paid the Diva a fortune to appear. Even thou Celine got three standing ovations, the celebrity audience were dismayed she did not sing live! Celine who sang live on the X Factor wanted to preserve her own voice. It didnt wash with the audience, as it was clear she was miming. She should have taken a tip from one of her biggest hits and tjought twice"

Shane Ritchie was also asked Celine the first question said " I took us 3 hours to get there and she B***** mimed"

The TV Specail will be shown at christmas.

An ITV spokesman said "We're delighted a performer of Celines calibre agreed to this specail show, She gave a great performance.

She's in a no win situation.

Personally, I'd prefer her to lip and give a spectacular show rather than a less than perfect live one.

At the end of the day, we know she can sing and so do the public.

I don't have this interview of her from 98 - I had it, I know, I heard it, but at that time my english was really bad and I don't remember anything about this interview heheh Maybe I do have it on my cd-r's ... now, I feel like hearing it again hehe anybody does have it? heheh

I don't have anything against it. If she tried, she just tried hehehe And I don't believe about the pot thing... until I hear it from her mouth. I study journalism and I know that even a "great" newspaper can create facts. Anyway.. but if she did it... once again she just tried once , no big deal.

 

I never tried pot - any drug in my whole life, never hhehe I don't drink, - very rarely so rarely that I can get dizzy with a glass of wine lmao Anyway... This whole thing is so funny. You take those things so seriously.

I think she has her head on its place, she is not a role model for anybody but she is a person who inspires people. Just and always - like a human being. A human being who is strong, who has things to share, who knows the true values of life, who is sincere, honest and who is capable of living a life with her 2 feet on the ground - without having her head on the clouds, without the success being over her head - and believe me, it's not easy.

TOTALLY OUTRAGED - After the focus on Celine miming on an audience with.....KYLIE minogue showcased her new album tonight on UK TV on a show called The Kylie Show and it was all mimed.

 

There were a few moment when I thought watching it that she was singing live...then I realised that it was supposed to sound that way...She was totally miming.

 

And to think the flack that Celine has taken for the same reason....We should RETALIATE

Quite honestly I think people hold Celine's vocal ability to a higher standard than Kylie, and Kylies isn't known for being a knockout singer like Celine is. She had a reputation to uphold and she blew it by lipping everything the last 2 weeks. People aren't going to be as upset because every singer has lipped in the past but Celine is known for her voice and just shouldn't have lipped, bottom line.

Hi there! I've been silently reading for the past few weeks, but know I feel like saying something about this subject.

Is Celine going through some kind of vocal fatigue or any kind of trouble lately? I mean, promoting the new album lipping at every chance she gets can pretty much ruin any idea of a big comeback. The performance on X Factor was far from brilliant, it's true... She didn't really sound like herself, however I'm wondering how~bad this could be. It's been ages since she's been performing in the UK, and when she tries to re-enter the british market she does it lipping? She lips at an award ceremony? There is something clearly wrong about this and I don't think we should be very understanding about it. If she's indeed sick, well, why not issue an official statement and re-schedule the performances? I know that at several tv shows it's hard to sing live due to the poor technical conditions in the tv studios, but... c'mon...

Yeah, I mean Kylie was singing a few songs tonight without a microphone of any sort. But it was all just for effect, it was a choreographed show with comedy sketches and all that. It's not like she was pretending to sing live, she was clearly not singing live and she wasn't making any kind of effort to make people think she was. Celine sings playback purposely to make it seem like she's singing and that's why the press jumped on her when she was over here.
