This track would be laughed at even during the oh so sappy days of the mid-90ies, when people were greeting horribly shallow and sappy ballads like elefants rolling aroung in the mud. Sure I can very well find it really nice to listen to Bryan Adams's Heaven and Whitney's version of I Will Always Love You, but I had to draw the line of soulless love declarations somewhere during Because You Loved Me. The word "love" must be the most abused word in English and it should be a crime to use a word of that importance to the extent of that it becomes shallow and non-expressive. The same case with cheap paraphrases such as "you gave me a world to believe in". Abuse such as this, is a crime against the arts and against love itself, and should not be praised. /fred Quote Peace and love to all.
