celinefan1985 Posted October 4, 2007 at 09:36 PM Posted October 4, 2007 at 09:36 PM Answer = release Taking Chances (lousy choice#1), don't bother promoting it until it's too late (lousy choice #2), and completely give up on D'Elles (lousy choice #3)! Quote
Alex_Incognito Posted October 4, 2007 at 09:37 PM Posted October 4, 2007 at 09:37 PM (edited) I think that sounds like the correct route for Sony! lol I pray none of them are digipacks---I am still PO'd about my TAST DVD being scratched!!! Shaun Posted October 4, 2007 at 09:38 PM Posted October 4, 2007 at 09:38 PM Sorry, got to disagree. D'elles was always going to be 2nd to Taking Chances this year. Moreover Taking Chances is not a lousy choice for a single, it's a superb song. The problem is Sony are doing literally NOTHING to support the promotion of the song. As usual Celine will have to do it all herself. Quote Bringing you the world's only Celine Dion podcast show since 2014.Find us on Soundcloud, Apple Podcasts, Spotify & Amazon Music.
firebird Posted October 4, 2007 at 09:41 PM Posted October 4, 2007 at 09:41 PM Yes, let's have a minute of silence for D'Elles ... ... and now back to business: she's got a really good new album coming out. According to what we've heard so far, the best within years. Just give it some time Quote
Céline's Blues Posted October 4, 2007 at 09:45 PM Posted October 4, 2007 at 09:45 PM Taking Chances is STELLAR. Especially considering the context of which Céline is releasing it. She's true to herself and you hear it. Lack of promotion from Sony's side is typical, though. Quote http://i.imgur.com/dmreJ.jpg

Alex_Incognito Posted October 4, 2007 at 10:11 PM Posted October 4, 2007 at 10:11 PM D'ELLES is no doubt one of Celine's greatest albums. I don't care who you are, but it is amazing. Lyrically, musically, vocally, it's the best. I would KILL for an english album that had the passion of D'ELLES. While I am sure that TAKING CHANCES will be good, it will be good in the direction of POP music, not a "timeless" album such as D'ELLES. Many of Celine's anglophone recordings were made to be 'hits', and aren't as timeless. Quote "People pay 20-25 dollars to see you."- Céline Dion, 1990

Seriously, we've been grumbling about Sony for years but I think it's about time Celine pull a Mariah and ditch their asses for real! It depends on what she has left on her contract. She really doesn't wanna do ANYTHING Mariah did. After Sony, MC went over to Virgin and they thought of her as such a disaster at the time that they paid HER to leave the label. Now she's found a nice home where she is but it took a while and there's no guarantee that her followup to the Mimi cd will do well. Celine has sold quite a few albums with Sony but I think the real problem is that all these labels have consolidated and the artists are getting lost with tons of other artists. They are looking for quick hits, not nurturing artists and promoting their "legacy" artists. Quote ~J O E Y~

LuisMa Posted October 5, 2007 at 04:03 AM Posted October 5, 2007 at 04:03 AM That's how I feel about an amazing song (Taking Chances) by my favorite artist of all time (Celine) not even denting the (Billboard Hot 100) charts, and having virtually (zero) no promotion from the label (Sony). What's going on?????????????? When the song was available on iTunes I would never had known if I hadn't read about it here on the forum, and the 9,000+ people who bought it all must have read it here. Thank God for the forum that keeps me and many other forums informed, as well as Team Celine, but Sony... that label isn't what it used to be Quote

cannonball Posted October 5, 2007 at 04:47 AM Posted October 5, 2007 at 04:47 AM The Moonlight promo with Taking Chances has been running constantly on CBS, not to mention Celine has gotten a lot of press about the new album and Vegas ending. I don't think she's doing too terrible. Quote http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y104/venusunfolding/100_3663.jpg3/14/07 - The Celine concert that almost was
manilou Posted October 5, 2007 at 11:29 AM Posted October 5, 2007 at 11:29 AM No Promo? Oh man look at the first 10 treads in the Discussion board. It's all about Promo. It all starts now. You already prejudge everything nearly 2 MONTHS before the release of the album! Calm down, request and wait. In 1 year you will be able to say if the album is a success and how the PRomo was. celine the power of my dream Posted October 5, 2007 at 11:42 AM Posted October 5, 2007 at 11:42 AM (edited) We have to be patient. Don't forget her album is coming to the stores in the second week of november and we are in the first week of october. I think that the moment Céline gives her last show in october sunday 14th the promo will start and that the promo will be huge I know that Sony has put everything on this album. And for the single well the only thing that is taking long now is the video the rest well radiostations them selves are a big part in this. In Holland for example we know that they received the song but they only played it once on one radiostation. So from the singles I'm not expecting anything if it's from Céline not because it's good or bad but because radiostations don't play her songs. I'm looking forward to the end of october and the beginning of november I think Céline and her album will be everywhere. Javito Posted October 5, 2007 at 12:32 PM Posted October 5, 2007 at 12:32 PM I agree with you joeym, I neither like TC as first single Alone would have been 100 times better as a comeback single to present the new Céline to the world, but not TC. Quote "Hush, now... I see a light in the sky"

She couldn't come back with such a know song. That would be pathetic I agree with that too, but wasn't it IDAN a well known song too? And it has success... Anyway I didn't say that Alone should have been the perfect choice for first single, but other songs on the album I'm sure would have been best arranged songs than TC. It just has not enough power for a comeback. Why couldn't be a new song written for Céline, like ANDHC was? I don't understand Sony's criteria on this matter, and I think I'll never do Quote "Hush, now... I see a light in the sky"
Céline's Blues Posted October 5, 2007 at 12:57 PM Posted October 5, 2007 at 12:57 PM I agree with you joeym, I neither like TC as first single Alone would have been 100 times better as a comeback single to present the new Céline to the world, but not TC.It was her decision and her choice. Established artists like Céline have always much to say as far as their singles are concerned and Sony will release ANYTHING she likes and they did exactly it: They released this song cuzz Céline herself felt that it presents the album in a proper way. And we should respect that. To be honest I'm glad she went her way, not Sony's. They would have chosen another song for sure but she didn't let them since it's HER album. If it won't sell she will have her own honour preserved. She proved she still has much integrity and class despite of changing music buisness. It may be however that Sony was strongly opposed to releasing TCH as the leading single and that's why they refuse to promote it. But that's another problem and it doesn't take ANYTHING for Céline's integrity. Quote http://i.imgur.com/dmreJ.jpg

firebird Posted October 5, 2007 at 01:17 PM Posted October 5, 2007 at 01:17 PM Lol, he had already lost me when he put the words "D'elles" and "timeless" together in one sentence. Anyways, it's kind of sad that a singer like Celine who has a first-class act in Vegas, who has made from good to outstanding studio recordings and live shows is still supposed to take part in that vomit-inducingly fake media circus for the sake of promotion and selling out. Everything to be #1 from sea to shining sea ... Quote
