The song itself is awesome, it has always been one of my favourites, ever since I heard Hearts version. With regards to Celine's version? I love the new arrangement, I am almost certain that the track we have heard on the internet, is taken from the recording sessions and not the finished product. Although Celine sounds natural and raw and still wipes the floor with most of her peers, it just doesn't sound finished. I have been awaiting this song with great anticipation, although it does sound lovely, if the version we have heard is the final cut, I will be disappointed.

My girlfriend ripped the songs into MP3 versions so I could make a CD. "Alone" has been on repeat on car trips during the past few days.

I just dont think the song we have is the completed version. I refuse to believe that Moody took what could have been such an emotionally edgy song and reduce it to what we've heard. I love Celine's performance, ho9wever, I think that its raw and unmixed. It sounds like a demo for the song, not the final version. I'm hoping the final version is more finished.

 

I dont believe the version we heard so far is the complete version as in the CD (I got a superb great HQ version and it is 3:16mins ) but watch out ...this could be the final version as well..the chances is 50:50...most probably this 3:16 version really is the final version. Personally i love the new arrangement to that song..but my question is ..it is the new arrangement by Ben Moody limit Celine to showcase her voice in this song...by listen to the version we had so far....i can tell it sound much more like an unpolished version but sound more like a demo version ..especially the screaming sound at 1:52...as one of the member said...she sounds a bit off...maybe that is her 1st try on that song...(the cd version will sound more smooth and perfect???? Celine didnt even put much effort in covering this song...it sound more like she is doing a karaoke ....no doubt the ALONEEEE>>>ALONEEEEEE sound powerful...but i expect this song to be the IACBTMN version in Taking Chances....there is so much posibility to make this song sound perfectly great instead of the one we got in our MP3 now...it could be 5 mins in that CD...but that is my dream....

The song is fabulous. Of course, some people will compare it to the original and say Celine shouldn't be doing a song like this. Well she's done it and quite successfully. Celine's version has a very distinct quality to it because her voice is very distinct and her voice is absolute quality. This may sound silly, but she has given new life to the song. She adds an unusual intensity to some of the lyrics of the song.

 

I believe the song we heard in the recording sessions is the actual song. We're not hearing a good quality version of it, however, because it's not off the CD. It's my opinion that these recording session videos feature some moments of Celine actually singing the song in the studio and then other moments of Celine lip-singing the final product. For example, the 'Taking Chances' recording session was Celine lip-singing the actual song.

 

As far as the "screaming" comment made (which does not sound off to me ... I just wish it had gone on longer), Celine's not actually screaming. She's singing. I believe, and this is my opinion, that she's mixing head and chest voice to accomplish what some refer to as the "screaming" sound. I could be wrong, though. It could be all chest voice. In which case she does a really good job of using her chest voice to sing without screaming.

 

I could not disagree more with the comment that Celine sounds like she's doing karaoke. I'm actually shocked at that comment.

 

The other thing I want to mention is this. This a short song as it was designed to be. There aren't a lot of lyrics and a five minute version would render Celine singing "how do I get you alone" over and over again. It would be overkill. This song is short and definitely sweet.

I love this song! I put it on repeat last night and listened to it over and over while I finished up my work. It's amazing! And the music arrangement, as others have said, is awesome.

 

And I don't think she sounds nasally. Her voice is beautiful. Not all of the music is designed for powerful vocals; the verses are designed for softer vocals, which she provides very well.

Great, great, great, great song. I've loved it since forever and I was delighted to see that Celine didn't stick to the original. The original is great, I love it but it belongs to a different time. Celine's version gives this song another mood, another feel, another soul, a different shade which I think it's brilliant. Love the music box thing in the end. Great song!

A true classic that has been big only in some countries. 20 years ago.

 

A mysterious NEW & elegant Céline Dion like instrumentalization that makes the song her own.

 

A soaring voice that moves mountains without being TOO much.

 

Just imagine how this instrumentalization might influence the video director: another epic video a la "It's All Coming Back To Me"

 

It's not about taking chances, it's about to accentuate nuances in Céline's music that have always been there but somehow got lost in the heavy ballad promotion in the My Heart Will Go On era.

 

"Alone" accentuates these guitar nuances without going overboard and putting some radio stations off and it's the perfect classy Céline Dion candidate for a second single. And they have already decided since the song has been added to the Mediabase listing as the only song from "Taking Chances" besides of course the title song.

 

And if they release "Alone" as the second single it will be vintage Céline a la "Falling Into You" - after the title song has been very successful in some European countries they released "It's All Coming Back To Me Now", another epic in the vein of "Alone".

 

Again remember it's not about the title and going hard rock presented on the record. It's the nuances that the fans and the audience should notice, not the forced will to present songs the general people would AT ONCE associate with absolutely going off her road of big voice and ballads.

 

"Alone" is a great, mysterious, almost spooky song that with its new arrangements and its ecapsulated essence fits perfectly for radio, promotion and...live performances. It's Céline Dion, a person that makes covers come alive.

 

The song must not hide in the comparison with "It's All Coming Back To Me Now" as it represents another classic Céline made her own and she is ready to defend it, even when her fans will whine instead of support this magnificent choice.

Don't think so. To me, it's the same old and safe Celine Dion. It doesn't show nothing new at all. And there's NO confirmation of Alone as a second single, and I really don't believe it will be. So, I'm just waiting for a new song to be the second single. Something "edge" as Celine and producers are talking on the video. Till now, nothing really new.

Seby, I love you but you are trying to find excuses in every choice she makes. Definatly, this song brings nothing new to her carreer.. It's a good song of course...But nothing exceptional. I praise the new arrangments, But I miss the rocky feeling of the song. It's time for something new, a new era like they said, and it doesn't mean Hard rock.

Out of all songs I've heard from the making-of this one - even if at first listen it didn't strike me as much - it rang the bell as the perfect second single.<br><br>What are you after?
