Jean-Jacques and Céline together again

He will be the artistic director of the upcoming tour - at least the French leg.

 

I expect her to sing AT LEAST one cover of his live. Maybe her favorite song "Le Coureur"?

 

Having him as artistic director guarantees that she won't have only the yes-sayers around her. She needs JJG to tell her what's good and what's bad and he is one of few persons in her camp that is able to tell her straight in the face that she is a "commercial sell-out" without any second thoughts. I'm very glad I'll be seeing with my boys the JJG supervised part of the tour.

 

Now let's hope he will also supervise the English leg.

This "artistic director, supervisor, councelor etc. whatever" thing he does for Celine now is so unnecessary. I'd prefer if he went back to write her some good songs with great lyrics and music, instead of what he's doing now. She just thinks she owes this to him for their friendship, but for Celine the artist, she'd be better off with him as a songwriter and composer

i think this is a good sign. maybe in her visit next month to europe, he can show her some material for her next french album. in her last trip to france (2005), the idea of female writers for a french album came up. i hope they will think in something new for her next french album. i hope it will be soon.

I still think it may be possible to see some of his influences in the English leg of the tour. To date her French and English legs were really similar. He may advise her to include more French songs, tho. I keep my fingers crossed!

You may be surprised! She said herself she will concentrate on D'Elles' songs and on the new English album so no need to worry here. From what she said it will be a back to basics show and JJG is THE perfect man for creating and RE-arranging old songs so that they will sound NEW! I bet you will hear 100% new songs there - even with her old hits.

 

JJG is her conscience and is surely aware of her wishes.

I dunno if JJ is that narcissistic and I wouldn't mind RM/PQTME/D/PP/EJTEA/ONCP/SISDA but I wanna hear songs from well not really TC, cos she has the english legue for that... but I want songs from 1F4T and D'elles and JNVOP! Songs we haven't hear live... but do scream perform me!!, like Ne Bouge Pas, Contre Nature, A Cause, On s'est aimé à cause, TLDH, Femme comme chacune...

its sad but i couldn't care less about listening her new songs live.IIIF she comes to Greece it would be the 1st time i'd see her live and (almost) all i wanna hear is her 90's repertoire

(i know that won't happen but imo the less "new millenium" songs the better)

I don't think she feels that she "owes" him anything. She likes to surround herself with good people

that are like family and he is definitely that. Plus with him on the road with her there's a good possibility

that he'll write some songs with/for her. It's a win win situation.

Sure she can sourround with people she likes but that doesn't mean they are important for her work. Look at whatever it was he supposedly did for her last album. I mean it's so obvious they just wanted his name somewhere on the disc because of the "D'Eux-effect" so they told everyone he "supervised" the album. Hahaha, bullshit. In fact that means he did nothing, but since the Celine/Goldman union is so unique they try to force it on.

She wants advice from him?! That's great. But what's the use of officially calling him a supervisor, artist director whatever?! If he just gives her some hints and advices in private I'd understand, but that is just promotional machine.

Hmmm...I know this duo has done some great things in the past, but there's a part of me that would really love to see new blood around Celine and her tour. JJG seems like a very safe choice. People know he won't rock the boat or do anything tremendously explosive in the way of being new, so people can be content that they know they'll probably like what they get and know what they can expect, and can trust his musical judgement, but this news doesn't really excite me at all. On one hand it's good...on the other hand, I can't help but be rather bored by this. "Yeah, yeah, JJG again. Big deal!"

At this point it's just total speculation, there is no way we can know EXACTLY what he is doing in that

supervisor capacity unless you are there in her camp. To Celine he is valuable and she wants him in

that role, I doubt she'd just put him there to just pacify him or thank him or pay him for nothing. From what I've read & heard he doesn't seem like that type of person to just take any bogus position just for money. The alliance doesn't seenm to promote anything though, I think you're reading too much into it. It is what it is!
