Why has SonyBMG abandoned Céline completely nowadays?

I agree, we are customers to SonyBMG and should be treated like customers, at the end of the day its the label who created the fans therefore they should have a system where they can deal with fans concerns, questions and submissions instead of ignoring them!

 

The last Celine single released in the UK was in 2003, thats 4 YEARS!!!! for an international artist with an album out every year or thereabouts, who is NOT in this now for the money or recognition its an absoloute disgrace...

Once again ONLY fans will save her from a flop. How sad!

No doubt, Celine is never properly promoted. You hardly ever here her songs play on the radio, and I don't think one of her singles has been at the top of the charts in ages, or at least this is the way things seem to be here in the U.S.

I agree with you all WHOLE-HEARTEDLY, but I don't think this issue is going to change.

 

Only because Celine is a very established artist that has a cult following. Our sales alone earn Sony millions of dollars. Since they know they can count on us and can pretty well count their chickens before they're hactched, they want to move in on artists like Alicia Keys, who is not established as well as Celine is. Doing this will earn them even more money.

 

I, too, am fed up with that line of crap, but I am afraid nothing will change that. They feel that Celine promotes herself with her name and only her name. They're right to an extent, but they need to think about all the fans that could be gained.

I think they are doing great so far promoting the new album. What has been done so far is much more than has been done with past releases. I think they are doing little things at a time which in my opinion is great. We don't want the public to get "burned out" with Celine before the CD is even released. Plus I think 2 months before the CD is released is the perfect time to release the new single meaning that it shouldn't be old by the time the CD comes out....if all goes well it will still be going strong to make way for the 2nd single. Plus Celine will be on ET this week, the Elvis Special next week and in W Magazine next month...plus other things that we don't even know about yet. This is a lot of promotion for an album that is still 2 months out and the Amazon promotion seems to be going great....Taking Chances is currently # 30 on Amazons Best Seller list so this is great so far.

I'm hoping all goes well in the conference. I haven't found much news lately because they're all busy with stuff. But the conference is supposedly very long - lots of planning. It was said that they'd all be going to Vegas in September until the 14th. So hopefully after the 14th we'll get some more info.
