Why?

 

I´m also a member of Shania Twain´s official fanclub, also run by MusicToday, but the service is TERRIBLE! Fans have been lobbying to lift up the fanclub or transfer it to another company for a few years now....lately it´s becoming worse & worse..

 

For example, their contests are for US residents only. They don´t send fragrances overseas. The site hardly has any stuff, updates are rare, service is BAD, customer service is BAD, international fans pay more but get MUCH less, etc. etc. Now there´s lots of discussions about the fanclub kit.. they owe us 2 kits now for the past 2 years (and in November a 3rd one), but now they finally have put one together, to be send in Sept. and ALL members active during 2006 and 2007 get them. So people who paid twice, get only 1 kit, while they owed us kits for each renewal. And this is just a small example..

 

Really I pray the same won´t happen to TeamCéline, but I just....fear for the worst..

Yeah, MusicToday has some of MOST regarded artists. Why would it be bad? Is Shania's fan club that bad?

Yeah I believe it was run in-house by Feeling and Sony. Frankly it´s much better as they can fully concentrate on the fanclub, and it´s more *personal*. Now that it will be run by a big company....

 

It was a pain in the #ss for Shania´s ticket sales, the presale kept crashing and brokers were able to buy loads of tickets.

 

I´m quite surprised by this move....as Céline´s with AEG, whose major rival is LiveNation.

Members of fanclubs for Britney, Christina, Gwen Stefani and others have also been complaining a lot. Then suddenly, without any notice, Christina and Gwen´s vanished.

 

Also lately people are banned from the fanclub for voicing their opinions (on MusicToday) on the forum in Shania´s fanclub. Fair?

Yeah thats what I'm afraid of. I guess it depends...

 

For example, Josh Grobans fanclub is run by Clque (or something like that) and they do a pretty good job. Every Thursday the post some behind the scenes video of Josh from the tour or whatever. But other things (like the pre-sale) are a disaster. I guess it all depends on how the old TC will integrate with the new TC.

There wasn´t one. There was one during the Come On Over era, but that one got lifted on Shania´s request. In 2002, with the release of Up!, the fanclub powered by MusicToday was created and well....it has been a joke ever since. Best to have no fanclub at all, then what there´s now.
