Daysleeper Posted April 3, 2017 at 02:31 PM Posted April 3, 2017 at 02:31 PM I just listened the entire Incognito album along with Ma chambre, Je ne veux pas, La religieuse, Comment t'aimer and Ne partez pas sans moi. I think it sounds more complete with those 5 songs. I wish they release them all in one special edition. Wishful thinking? 3 Quote

They should release all of her albums in vinyl and special editions (just only for collectors if they want to release few copies). Quote
isurrender Posted March 30, 2026 at 01:30 PM Posted March 30, 2026 at 01:30 PM Hey, I know we all are carried away by Céline's comeback but a very precise question about Incognito era, especially for chart follower/collectors/people from Québec ( if any on the board). "Incognito" was released in 1988 in France. Did it chart anywhere? Something is weird because she released La religieuse/Je ne veux pas/Comment t'aimer in 1987/1988 in France and they are not included on this album. Do you think it's because they flopped ( I couldn't find any chart for these songs) or because they were not released on the same label ( I think)? But the most intriguing question : were these songs available in Quebec as well back then? Or were they released only in France? How could Céline's fans from Quebec get them? They were later released on best of from the early days but I don't know if these compilations were released in Quebec? Quote

In addition, the singles released there during the era were never chart either, except for “Ne partez pas sans moi” which charted at 36 due to the Eurovision impact. The songs you asked in particular were only available in France because they were released as a single there and also included on a compilation album released exclusively in Europe including French. Those songs were included on several best of albums later in the 90s (Les premieres années, Gold Vol. 1 and 2 etc) but again, those were only released in France. So I don’t think they were available in Quebec back then. Quote

At that time, France was more into young teenage singers like Vanessa Paradis. In 2016, Celine said that she was jealous of Vanessa, because she was young and pretty and wore cool clothes. I think France was not ready for a more mature Celine at that time. They wanted the teenage singer from 1984/1985. But in 1991, Celine came back with the DCP album which was a success in France The label Carrere released the album in France in 1988. Edited March 30, 2026 at 02:45 PM by comingback Quote

Yeah, DCP saw a success in 1993 after the release of Ziggy which charted at number two and became her first major hit in France which was a year later after the album’s release in 1992. Quote

Yes, it was released with the title Des Mots Qui Sonnent in 1992. Quote

If I recall in my research, whispy, airy vocals from singers like Vanessa Paradis, Elsa, etc. Were very popular at the time. The French also liked more sophisticated and artistic themes to their music and Incognito was a little too “American” for their tastes, thus Je Ne Veux Pas and La Religieuse were recorded to fit the French market. Supposedly Romano Massumara told Celine she needed to sing softer for Je Ne Veux Pas as she was belting too much. Quote

And in the 80s/90s it was way more complicated to get hold of stuff like that. Even more since these songs flopped so they mustn't have been around for long. 1 Quote
