Celine's career to be revived in Japan again, first comeback album after 8 years

Once again, Quebec singer Celine Dion has a pop ballad at the top of

the charts - but this time only in Japan. The song, To Love You More,

has quickly sold 1.3 million copies after being used as the theme song

for a popular TV drama series Koibito yo (My Dear Lover). That made

it the first foreign song to No. 1 on the local charts in 12 years.

To Love You More is a uniquely Canadian collaboration: Victoria born

David Foster produced the CD single and shares song writing credits

with Junior Miles, the pen name of Edgar Bronfman Jr., chairman of

Seagram Co. But fans who snapped up tickets to Dion's 17 city cross

Canada tour staring in May may have to wait to discover what the

excitement is all about. There is no word from Epic, Dion's record

company, about when, if ever, To Love You More will be released in

North America.

 

Sony has apparently have released a second version of the To Love You More

live-concert edition. Instead of the VH1 Honors concert with the girl, it's

got the original violinist Taro Hakase. He improvises a bit more, but I

don't like the sound of his electric violin. I don't know where this concert

was, but Celine is wearing a different outfit and the stage is darker with more

stairs. The edit is the same; only two of the ad-lib verses are chopped, and

the instrumental bridge is intact. I get the feeling this was made for MTV or

other non-VH1 stations who didn't want the VH1 name stamped on the video title .

Celine always keep her eye on Japan,China,and Hong Kong.

Taiwan,one of her big Asia market,always loses her sight.

Philippines,Malaysia,and others are in the same situtation,too.

I mean it seems that...there's no promotion at all in this country? Are there japanese fans on the board?

 

Is TC played on radio? It isn't even on the Tokyo HOT 100...

 

Well, I 'm a bit afraid as I think Céline will tour there as well so... a bit of success will be welcomed! lol

I think there're a lot promo in Japan soon. SONYBMG Japan even released a tribute album earlier to warm up her comeback.

I'm not sure about what did Celine in Japanese. But the movie tells this is the 10th year of My Heart Will Go On, and Celine is the best selling female artist of all time, sold over 200 million album worldwide. her new album "Taking CHances" would be released on 11.7 in Japan first.

I got the cd today... it's funny... TC was referred to as That's just the woman in me' lol... some accents are horrible lol but the proves 2 things:

 

1 nobody can sing like céline

2 it's perfectly possible to update the sound on her old signature songs for the TC tour!
