Got some news from one of Greg's fansite, Just-Gregory.net, his MySpace account and from MCA Universal France/Mercury Records France (his home studio). They are going to release his unreleased single, "De temps en temps" ("From time to time" in English) this June 11.

 

The song was composed by Davide Esposito (who also composed "Ecris l'histoire").

1.) Greg first talks about how it had always been his dream to sing with Celine Dion. His mom says everything he learned about singing, he learned it from listening to Celine. Celine says that she's sorry she can't be there but really likes him and thinks he's very talented. She tells him to be strong and keep going forward. She says she hopes he doesn't mind if he gets to sing the duet instead of Garou (who usually sings that duet with Celine). Nikos says that Celine only performs duets with the biggest stars, but that she really had her heart set on singing with Gregory. Gregory says it was a huge honor to sing with her and that he thanks her a million, then Nikos gives him a signed copy of Celine's new album.

Some news from Gregory:

 

- His cover version of the Daniel Balavoine classic "SOS d'un terrien en distresse" peaked at #28 on the Swiss singles charts.

- "De temps en temps" peaked at #1 on the French singles charts and #10 on the Swiss singles charts*.

 

I hope his sales of "La Voix d'un Ange (The Voice of an Angel; MCA Universal France/Mercury France) were not affected by the album release of our idol, Celine ("D'Elles"/From Them).

"De temps en temps" slips into the 14th slot from #10 on the Swiss singles, but his second album "La Voix D'un Ange" is one of the highest new entries in the Swiss album charts at #6. His previous album, "Je Devien Moi" still holds on to the Swiss album charts at #82, down from #53.

I do expect that it will be a fierce battle between two of Francopop's most influential artists in the IFOP album charts; fan vs. idol (Gregory vs. Celine).

 

I don't have much access to IFOP so we won't able to have a first-hand look st the record sales in France.

I do hope that the newest season of Star Academy on TF1 France, which will start late fall, Celine this time will have an interactive duet with Greg like what she had done to him when he was a contestant himself three years ago.

 

It is one way of giving back to Gregory the beautiful and soulful ballads he had rended during his short, yet successful span of his career, which every music lover would always be remebered...

 

FOREVER.

 

At least, he was given the opportunity to showcase the world with his angelic voice, down-to-earth humility and inspiration.
