Celine sues her first manager, Paul Levesque

This is really weird. What I really don't understand is how all of the sudden, after twenty six years of this song being around, that the guy now decides he has the rights to it and starts selling it to be in an ad. I was really surprised the ad is for a giant company like TD Waterhouse. When I first started reading the story I thought the guy was just selling it to some small company, which would have been just as bad. If the guy really owned the rights all of these years wouldn't he have tried to do stuff like this in the past? And how come it got by the lawyers at TD Waterhouse?

 

I'm surprised that they are only suing for 1 million dollars.

 

This guy is crazy.

Last time I am very fascinated in Celine's history. I tried to read about her as much as possible and find as much as possible photos of her, especially concerning the begining of her career. Above, there is written about her first menager Paul Levesque. I would like to see how he was looking like, but I can not find ANY picture of him - nowhere !

Why ?

Have you any photo of Paul Levesque ? Please let me know where can I see him or maybe anybody have such photo ?

I never heard of him either, although I‘ve been a fan for decades. Never heared that he wanted Celine to have better grades and wrote letters to her mom. Just saw that this topic popped up again. From what I remember Paul managed Michels group, so through him Paul signed Celine. But he didn’t do that much for Celine, and she only sang covers etc, not any original songs, which upset her mum especially. At 11 years old singing songs by much older women etc can come across a bit inappropriate. Back then anyway 😂 That’s when they wrote CNQR but they didn’t want Paul to know about it. They sent it to René and the rest you know.

Don’t know how the court case ended though. I’ll be surprised if he won it!

In first, her mother signed a contract with Paul for 5 years in december 1980, for work of the Céline career. But rapidly, the relation between her Mother and the manager has been deteriorated, because Paul has been scared by the way of life of his family very bohemian and very artist. Céline always hated the school and Paul sent a letter to forced the Dion family to push regulary Céline in the school. And her menager at his mother said ''the composer didn't write for kids''. After that, Thérèse decided to write the song Ce n'était qu'un rêve and send the tape to René Angélil. When René started to occup the career of Céline, her mother tell to René her insastifaction of the services of Paul. Gradually, the first manager has been discarded by René and the Dion family, because the relation between his mother and Paul Lévesque is terrible. In june 1982, because the link with the Dion family and the old manager has been stopped, the contract of the management has been transfered in René Angélil in the suprême court and the judge approved the transfert.

 

For the pursuit for the songs written by his mother in 2007, the affair has been resolved without the court, Paul Lévesque give back the copyright of the songs to his mother, her brother Jacques and Céline and the affair has been closed.

To "Members" - I had already seen Triple-H before - Yeah, very funny

I just also found a photo of Paul Levesque with a Canadian singer Luba.

Anyway , there are not any one photo of him with Celine.

I do not understand why - even if Rene as well as Celine and her family do not like Paul, it is her history.

I do not believe the she has no photo with Paul.

So, why it is impossible to find it ?
