Le gérant d'artistes montréalais Ben Kaye, qui avait notamment pris en mains les destinées des «Baronets» et des «Classels» dans les années 60, est décédé d'un cancer, samedi à Montréal. Il avait 68 ans.

 

Ami et associé de René Angélil depuis 45 ans, Ben Kaye a aussi composé des chansons à succès comme «Le sentier de neige» et «Ton amour a changé ma vie», popularisées par les Classels.

 

Ces dernières années, M. Kay s'était occupé des relations internationales de la carrière de Céline Dion.

I think that article says that he had something to do with Rene's former band, the Baronets in the sixties, in addition to working with Celine.

Coming out of my forum vacation just to say my heart goes to his family and to Celine and René. I can't imagine how it feels to lose a friend of 45 years and we all know how much René is close to his friends. IIRC he was René's best man when he married Celine. And he has been a very important person for Celine's carreer. I hope he rests in peace. And I hope René and Celine are alright, losing a friend must be devastating. Ben Kaye, one of the driving forces behind Quebec's pop music scene in the 1960s who later latched on to Celine Dion's rising star and went on to become one of her most trusted advisers, died of cancer Saturday at his home in Westmount. He was 68.

Yes, it was known... Her father had bone cancer. I'm not sure what kind Eddy had.

Celine may be in Montreal with Rene. One thing that's difficult when you are a celebrity is that it's difficult to go to events like funerals because then you have to deal with all the paparazzi and people wanting an interview, etc. I could be wrong but that may be why you don't see her there.
