You guys are misinterpreting what she's saying. Wen she said "Celine Dion is not in anymore" she meant the music she recorded when she was played on top 40 radio stations in not played anymore. That's what she meant. When I read her staement, I feel no attack towards Celine at all. It's more of a statement toward the genre of music she recorded. That's why she's talking about standards and pop music.

 

 

I guess the material played depends on the radio station in question. As far as the mainstream radio station that I listen to, 101.5 FM in South Florida, they play Celine's stuff constantly... I would even say Celine's songs are played up to 4 or 5 times a day. Celine's songs played on my local radio station include Beauty and the Beast, When I Fall in Love, Where Does My Heart Beat Now, It's All Coming Back To Me Now, Because You Loved Me, The Power of Love, All by Myself, My Heart Will Go On, A New Day Has Come, I'm Alive, Have You Ever Been in Love, That's the Way It Is, and Taking Chances.

I'm wondering how these newbees dare to give qualifications to ledgends. It looks like she is one of those peoples who take themselfs too seriously and had done nothing in their lifes whereas the real stars such as Celine are so down to earth. I think everyone is entitled to their own opinion. And there is nothing wrong with what she said. Every music is "out" as some point. No one really plays Michael Jackson anymore, no one plays the Beatles back and forth anymore. That doesn't mean they lost any of their greatness. It only means, today, we are listening to different kinds of music. It's like that in every field, in art, in literature, in fashion, in music. Céline's new albums do sound completely different than her old ones. That is a new sound and I would never say: that is out. I think it's great, I love it and I think it fits well into the current market and into what people want to listen to.

If anything, then her older albums, are just that: old. Doesn't make them bad. But of course, music from the 80's or 90's has a different sound than music from today. And the reason why we are listening to this new music and not the 80's anymore is because we like the new sound. That doesn't make the older stuff bad. It's just different.

Maybe it is thought that Celine is not in anymore because she isn't one of the celebs everybody talks about. She may be not popular in that way - with scandals and extravagance. But she IS in with her incredible voice.

Actually Zanif, just because you don't win American Idol, doesn't mean you're a loser. Look at Chris Daughtery and Jennifer Hudson. They didn't win and they're doing well. And then of course look at the winner from Katherine's season...Taylor Hicks. He pretty much has no success whatsoever. But Katherine McPhee is a loser on idol, AND in the music industry. It's true, Celine is not in the radios anymore, nor in the charts. Her album debuted N°3 and now is 110 or something, and no singles made the Hot 100...True shouldn't be harmful.

Celine will never have the cool guys on her side as she is not the next best thing or cutting edge and like ABBA it will never be cool to be a fan....but most of "in" music now will be a 5 minute wonder and those acts will not be around in 20 years or have successful careers like Celine has....and i rather Celine stay true to her fans and her musical roots than try to copy sounds that dont suit her .... a good song sung well will always be appreciated by any ear...and that is what she needs good songs, actually no..... good is not good enough i want only great exceptional songs and seeing as how she aint a singles artist anymore i want no filler on the cds....just great exceptional songs...she is the worlds greatest singer so i want the worlds greatest songs

gettin back to ms mcphee....her cd aint that bad about 6 good songs on it ...harmless enough

Celine Dion isn't 'in'. She never has been like the above post from un reve says. She's not what the cool kids listen to. And Celine herself has said this. When she was criticised for her duets on Let's Talk About Love with Streisand, Pavarotti, Carole King, Bee Gees, etc, all DOUBLE her age, she said she wasn't interested in being cool. She wants to be a classic.

 

So leave the woman alone who said this (or not, as the case may be regarding mis-reporting). Celine isn't 'in'. But who cares? Fashion is fleeting. She's had a career approaching its third decade.
