So suddenly, it's clear to me

Things change

Our future lies in here and now

We live it through somehow

Now the greatest reward

Is the love that I can give

I'm here for you now

For as long as I live

You made me who I am

Dion to sing from spaghetti western

THE atmospheric music of Ennio Morricone — the Italian maestro who famously scored "The Good, the Bad and the Ugly" and the other Sergio Leone-Clint Eastwood spaghetti westerns, among many other films — doesn't seem like the obvious choice for a first-time collaboration between Celine Dion and Quincy Jones.

But late last month, the French Canadian torch singer and the pioneering record producer got together in Las Vegas to add vocals to Morricone's "I Knew I Loved You," an instrumental piece from Leone's 1984 crime drama, "Once Upon a Time in America."

The song will appear on a tribute album of "duets" coming this Christmas and also featuring Morricone collaborations with Bruce Springsteen and Herbie Hancock. (An eclectic roster of artists, including Yo-Yo Ma, Sting, k.d. lang, Luciano Pavoratti and Tim McGraw, are in negotiations to record singles with the composer.)

I'm sure if we group everything together, Celine has lots of duet music already.. she could release a new duet album.

Now for the bad and the ugly: the requisite Morricone tribute album, which is scheduled for release in the spring and will feature contributions from Bruce Springsteen, Metallica (who regularly open shows with Morricone's "L'Estasi dell'Oro" from The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly soundtrack), Yo-Yo Ma, the Simon Cowell-from-"American Idol"-designed international "popera" group Il Divo, and Celine Dion. Better yet, according to a press release, "Celine Dion's track was produced by Quincy Jones, marking the first time the two artists have worked together." Finally!

Today is Ennio Morricone's birthday and SonyBMG Italy released a press kit in which they announce the tribute album to be released in Italy and North America next spring.

I think it's a sure bet Quincy Jones will be part of Céline's next English album. Then the team would be 100% complete. 100% quality.

I'm really looking foward to this album. I adore Morricone. This is the perfect match for Celine.

(9:25 p.m. GMT) On September 27th the Las Vegas Review Journal announced that Celine Dion and legendary producer Quincy Jones were teaming up for the first time. "Dion and Jones got together at the Palms recording studios on Tuesday, September 26th for a special record." They were collaborating on a song for a tribute CD to Italian composer Ennio Morricone, best known for scoring Clint Eastwood's classic spaghetti western "The Good, the Bad and the Ugly."

Oscar-winning lyricists Alan and Marilyn Bergman have written the lyrics for the song recorded by Céline, titled "I Knew I Loved You," which didn't have lyrics in director Sergio Leone's 1984 film. "I Knew I Loved You" will be part of a tribute album to Ennio Morricone scheduled for release in the SPRING 2007!!
