That's what I've been saying. On the press release on cd.com it says high-definition DVD. Newsflash people, HD-DVD is the other HD format, not blu-ray. It's the one that's battling blu-ray And even like that, I seriously doubt they will release it in HD-DVD. Let's face it, very few people have a HD player, they're so expensive. They're not going to release it on a format that can't sell, because people wouldn't be able to watch.

Unless they're a bit dense High Definition DVD means VERY WELL Blue-Ray or HD DVD. Check the definition of HD DVD on the web.

If I'm not mistaken Sony is only supporting blu-ray not HD-DVD and I think I'm almost 100% sure of it since they have blu-ray on PS3. Which makes me happy sinse I have PS3, I dont want to buy an HD-DVD player

I think you're right.

 

HD-DVD's are Microsoft's domain.

 

I think you can play HD-DVDs in your XBox.

 

 

They may even release a standard DVD edition... so that EVERYONE can watch.

Now Why would they say HD DVD if they Meant BlueRay...Let's Face the facts it's not going to be in Blue Ray DVD...It's still premature not enough People have them yet...Even if you dont have a HD VCR you will still be able to watch the DVD in regular Format

You see there are those of us who are able to decipher truth from assumptions. We are able to look at some kind of news or material and make a reasonable judgment on it and see if it's true or false. Then, there are some of us who see something and immediately take it as truth. Those are the vulnerable folks. We have some of them here.

 

Just look around at some of the threads.

For example, the World Thread. Just that listing of countries, we have people crying! There's not even official word from Celine's camp yet regarding the full World Tour list.

 

 

 

And yes, Sebby, I do want BluRay for Celine's filmed extravaganza, and I just might buy one player as well. I can't believe being in this industry, I don't have a personal BluRay player... yes sad of me!

Besides, they haven't mentioned that in previous releases, because....there haven't BEEN any proper concert DVD released from Céline since...."Au Coeur Du Stade"! LOL

Well, a good journalist's job is to specify and check their sources and then check them again esepcially when we talk about here about an official press release from Sony Canada. A release that ppl will take as serious source and will make news out of it on various sites all around the world. It is the first time they mentioned the show being show in HD and while I think there is a possibility of interpreting it as simple mistake on their part I still think they are releasing it in HD just like the semantics of the compoud word tell me.

 

We can be let down this time again of course but I'm fairly optimistic although surely also prepared for the worst: a simple DVD which will be disappointing but still fine.

The HD-DVD format is a competitor of Blu-Ray format and Sony isn't going to release anything with their name on it in HD-DVD format. There is a war in the movie industry regarding the 2 formats right now. Some studios release their movies on HD-DVD and some others release theirs on Blu-Ray. Only 1 studio releases movies on both format (Warner Bros.).

 

So to think that Celine's show will end up on the HD-DVD format is absurd.

A standard DVD would never be considered as high-definition, no matter how they shoot it. If they do mean it that way, they're just stupid and abused the word high-definition in a press release..
