Teodora Posted September 12, 2007 at 07:55 PM Posted September 12, 2007 at 07:55 PM I'm sure it's being shot this week.. Btw, high-definition doesn't actually mean blu-ray, so hold your breath a bit longer. That's what I've been saying. On the press release on cd.com it says high-definition DVD. Newsflash people, HD-DVD is the other HD format, not blu-ray. It's the one that's battling blu-ray And even like that, I seriously doubt they will release it in HD-DVD. Let's face it, very few people have a HD player, they're so expensive. They're not going to release it on a format that can't sell, because people wouldn't be able to watch. Quote

Nope: 2.1 What is high definition DVD? High definition DVD will be more like an evolution of the DVD format, than an outright revolution. In terms of video and audio quality, high definition DVD will be what DVD was to VHS videotapes. Many television sets today are capable of displaying high definition pictures, and the move to a high definition home video format is the logical step in the evolution of home video. To be more precise, high definition DVD will aim to offer 1080 lines of video resolution video (more on these technical details later), compared to the 576/480 lines offered by DVDs today. You count to that: Blu-ray, HD DVD, EVD and FVD. Edited September 12, 2007 at 08:00 PM by Céline's Blues Quote http://i.imgur.com/dmreJ.jpg

Céline's Blues Posted September 12, 2007 at 08:37 PM Posted September 12, 2007 at 08:37 PM There would be absolutely NO reason for them to mention "High definition DVD". They have NEVER EVER used this word in the past press releases. That's why I think it's going to be the REAL and LITERAL meaning of "High Definition DVD" aka Blu-Ray in this case. Céline's Blues Posted September 12, 2007 at 08:41 PM Posted September 12, 2007 at 08:41 PM If they will release HD DVD I will buy Xbox, I don't care. Main thing is they will release it as HD. It's pointless to mention a "HD DVD release" when they mean just simply normal ordinary DVD. Quote http://i.imgur.com/dmreJ.jpg

We are able to look at some kind of news or material and make a reasonable judgment on it and see if it's true or false. Then, there are some of us who see something and immediately take it as truth. Those are the vulnerable folks. We have some of them here. Just look around at some of the threads. For example, the World Thread. Just that listing of countries, we have people crying! There's not even official word from Celine's camp yet regarding the full World Tour list. And yes, Sebby, I do want BluRay for Celine's filmed extravaganza, and I just might buy one player as well. I can't believe being in this industry, I don't have a personal BluRay player... yes sad of me! Edited September 12, 2007 at 08:49 PM by Love, Quote

There's not even official word from Celine's camp yet regarding the full World Tour list. Well, a good journalist's job is to specify and check their sources and then check them again esepcially when we talk about here about an official press release from Sony Canada. A release that ppl will take as serious source and will make news out of it on various sites all around the world. It is the first time they mentioned the show being show in HD and while I think there is a possibility of interpreting it as simple mistake on their part I still think they are releasing it in HD just like the semantics of the compoud word tell me. We can be let down this time again of course but I'm fairly optimistic although surely also prepared for the worst: a simple DVD which will be disappointing but still fine. Say What? Posted September 12, 2007 at 10:20 PM Posted September 12, 2007 at 10:20 PM I agree with Seb. Using the word High Definition doesn't specify the format but knowing that SONY created the Blu-Ray format, you can deduct the simple logic from it. The HD-DVD format is a competitor of Blu-Ray format and Sony isn't going to release anything with their name on it in HD-DVD format. There is a war in the movie industry regarding the 2 formats right now. Some studios release their movies on HD-DVD and some others release theirs on Blu-Ray. Only 1 studio releases movies on both format (Warner Bros.). So to think that Celine's show will end up on the HD-DVD format is absurd. Quote
