So in The US, Taking Chances is up against Jay Z and Alicia Keys is that correct, and in the UK its against Spice Girls and Leona Lewis. I would say sony have picked the worst week possible for releasing the album. Though personally i dont really care if its no1 , as it will probably be a long term seller at least i hope so. If sony release good singles and do their job properly instead of a poorly celine having to drag herself around exhausted doing all the promo herself!

No necesita presentación alguna. Con más de 180 millones de discos vendidos en todo el mundo en poco más de 25 años, cinco premios Grammy y dos Oscar y a punto de poner fin a cinco años ininterrumpidos de directos en Las Vegas, la canadiense Celine Dion puede presumir sin ningún reparo de ser la reina del pop. Sin ni siquiera un respiro, esta semana vuelve a la carretera con un nuevo disco bajo el brazo: "Taking chances".

 

"Taking Chances" es el primer álbum grabado en estudio en inglés por Celine Dion desde hace tres años y con él la cantante canadiense da el pistoletazo al inicio de su primera gira mundial en diez años, que comenzará el 14 de febrero de 2008 en Johanesburgo (Suráfrica), con un concierto benéfico a favor de la Fundación Nelson Mandela.

 

Después, el 'tour' continuará a lo largo de un año por Oriente Medio, Asia, Australia, Nueva Zelanda, Europa y América con conciertos en grandes recintos; en total más de 25 países y más de 100 ciudades, con posibilidades —todavía no ha sido confirmado por su discográfica, Sony-BMG— de que cante en España.

"Taking chances", que se grabó el pasado mes de julio en Las Vegas, cuenta con un amplio elenco de colaboradores: Linda Perry, Dave Stewart de Eurythmics o Ben Moody de Evenescence son algunos de ellos.

 

Entre los cortes, en los que hay pop, soul e incluso gospel, figura un tema, "That's just the woman in me", escrito por el que fuera guitarrista de Katrina & the Waves, Kimberley Rew, hace 15 años y que ella ha querido recuperar.

Tras ir enlazando un éxito tras otro a lo largo de su periplo musical, fue hace ahora cinco años cuando René Angélil, su actual esposo, tuvo la idea de crear un espectáculo con sede permanente en el Colisseum dentro del Hotel-Casino Caesars Palace de Las Vegas.

 

Un recinto de 4000 asientos preparado especialmente para su show de hora y media "A New Day...", diseñado por Franco Dragone, el creador del Circo del Sol, y que cerrará sus puertas el próximo 15 de diciembre, con más de 3 millones de entradas vendidas.

 

El 15 de diciembre de 2007, Celine Dion ofrecerá sus últimas actuaciones en Las Vegas, conciertos que han quedado registrados en un 'deuvedé' que saldrá a la venta antes de fin de año. Además, la edición especial del "Taking chances" recoge imágenes de cuatro de las canciones del show y un documental.

Alone for a single. I was always all for it, at least in Europe ppl love Céline's magnificent rendition.

I just bought the DVD edition from HMV Glasgow which is a massive store and it is the first CD you come to. It is all over the shop and they have it at No. 4 in the chart.

 

I dont think there is any chance of getting Number 1 in the UK but I beleive it will be Number 1 in europe and possibly the world because Leona Lewis is only releasing in the UK. The killers are only big in certain countries and the Spice Girls are SH*t. I know some people may not agree but these three are her biggest competition in europe and if HMV is anything to go with they are all ahead of her

I just bought the DVD edition from HMV Glasgow which is a massive store and it is the first CD you come to. It is all over the shop and they have it at No. 4 in the chart.

 

I dont think there is any chance of getting Number 1 in the UK but I beleive it will be Number 1 in europe and possibly the world because Leona Lewis is only releasing in the UK. The killers are only big in certain countries and the Spice Girls are SH*t. I know some people may not agree but these three are her biggest competition in europe and if HMV is anything to go with they are all ahead of her

 

The Spice Girls are only competition in the Uk. In other countries, I don't think their GH will be that successfull... we'll see!
