Which song of Céline's from the list below shoulda been a single - commerical or otherwise - that wasn't?

Well, I had a difficult time choosing a song fom the list, because they're all great songs. But then I saw "Us". Gorgeous, gorgeous song from LTAL and one of may favourites.

So I then hit the 'vote' button.

 

But....

 

After I read the posts in this thread, I actually changed my mind.

It defenately should have been "I Surrender".

That song has it all. Such magic, such feeling, such power... :w00t:

 

Hey, shouldn't we, the fans, have to have a say in what would be Céline's next single? We'd pick the right ones for sure. :thumbsup2:

i picked I surrender, though thats was a hard poll, there are a lot of songs there that i think could have been singles, I think i love you, goodbye is beautiful, Cherche encore is stunning, and le blues du businessman, is breath-taking, it should have been released as a live single to premote A L'Olympia

For me it absolutely has to be "Then You Look At Me." I remember being gutted when Sony chose to follow "That's The Way It Is" in the UK with "The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face" thinking "Then You Look At Me" would've been a much better choice. I still think that, but then again I rarely agree with Sony and their choice for singles lol.

I voted for 'Tous les blues sont ecrits pour toi' because it`s very special for me but, honestly, if I could, I would vote for all the songs from the list. They`re all wonderful.

I didn't vote for I Surrender even though I do agree it should have been a single, but I think it was just strategy, because OH was coming on so they needed room for IDAN in the charts, and I Surrender would have been #1 forever... plus they need I Surrender and the huge hit that will sell the DVD!!!!!

I voted for Ain't Gonna Look The Other Way.

I consider "I Surrender" a powerful song. That's why i chose that.

 

Though I thought "I Love You, Goodbye was released worldwide as a single, the song is really beautiful that it became a hit in the Philippines. The good thing with ILYG is that you can always relate to the song. That's why , i still hear it played on local stations. I"m pretty sure, i could still have hear it on tv if there was a video for it.

Picking a song that SHOULD have been a single is kinda hard because so many of Celine's truly best music never made it to airplay. I agree that "I Surrender" COULD have been a single but I would be afraid that "mainstream" radio wouldn't want to play another ballad, even as good as that one is. I always thought TLYM should've been a better single but it just didn't get the airplay it deserved.

 

My other votes:

  • Why oh Why - from LTAL
  • Dreamin' of You - from Falling Into You
  • If we could start over again - from Unison (If a mediocre song like WDMHBN can make it, why not this one?)

Yes, I wondered too how If We Could Start Over Again did not make it as a single. It is a beautiful and catchy soft rock song and although it is about a break-up and the atmosphere of the song is positive. This song always reminded me of spring.... it has a spring feeling... and maybe optimism? :wub:

Dreamin' of You too would be a good choice for a single, however, my problem with FIY in general is that there are too many good and beautiful songs on that album so it would have been a hard choice to choose a few singles... :wub:

i think each track may be the worst from each album and imo WDMHBN is one of the best Celine songs ever.

"Dans un autre monde" was a promotional track. There was a music video (taken from "Au coeur du stade") and she sang it on french tv (2 times I think!).

 

And we can say that " If I could" was used for promotion as well. She sang it so many times from Vegas on tv shows...

Personally i dont care we all should know by now that world wide she is more of an album sales artist,, with the exeption of france canada and occationally america,, Although i do agree the reason for this happening is the poor choice of singles,, but it doesnt matter now
