just i little question, so a new day was recoreded back in 2003/2004 can't remember but celine had the red dress and curly short blond hair, and it is being film now but was the opening night version filmed? you know with celine flying and the first red costume...and was there a version film of here long hair day before the black/white outfit she is wearing now...

what?! they can do it on the songs she is not singing live...but they cant take IIC for example and show it to us from diffrent nights , it will look and sound redicilous

sure , they can take diffrent songs from diffrent nights cause i'm sure they want to choose the best performances but to take diffrent performances of the same song and mix it together? so not real :down:

Gogo, they will NOT cut up performances at all! All I meant they will perhaps add additional angles to the already existin performances by including angles from other nights which won't interrupt the viewing experience at all if you watch the MAIN movie!

They will surely choose the best performances but they will not cut them into parts.

but in order to add diffrent angles they have to record the 4 shows with that new technology that i know nothing about...if they recorded only 1 show with those special cameras they would have to take all the songs from that performance otherwise they would have to mix everything :huh:

I think they try to set cameras on different positions on different nights to try to get more perspectives for the DVD.

Why would they need to record 4 shows? They record one show (the first one) with many many cameras and the rest it'll be just for the additional angles - as we have seen the most cameras were on the first day of the taping and it was at that day where Céline was most playful with the cameras near the stage.

When any concert is filmed it's always a mix from different nights.

As for why everyone is getting upset that no special songs were added just for this taping, what did you expect? As long as we get the show on DVD as it is now PLUS the show on DVD as it was then, I'm happy. Didn't they say we'd get that so we can compare the evolution of the show?

I so want to see NB, Fever, HYEBIL, EJE and of course it will be a HUGE crime if they miss out TFTEISYF

It's normal when filming concerts to shoot for more than one day. For one thing, it takes a little bit of pressure off the performers since if they only filmed once they would be worried about making mistakes that could not be redone, etc. Even though this show has been done so many times and there are probably few mistakes that anyone would notice they need to be sure that they have enough footage and choices for a great DVD. Also, as others have said, alot of the cameras will be for footage for alot more angles, and the DVD may have extras where you could, maybe, choose different views.

There is a possibility that the main part of the DVD show will not be one complete night but a few edited together. It would not be that hard to do. For example, when Celine goes off stage to change costumes, they could use another show's footage for the next song and it would probably not be noticed.

AAAAAAAAARRRRGGGGGGH! Celine was amazing last night! And so were we (the fans!) :clap: :kicking: :msn-wink:

I didn't realise how many new costumes there were, not even one of Celine's costumes that I saw in the show in March last year was there! She looked absolutley stunning! And being four rows from the front I was able to see her beautiful new glittery eye make-up - alot like Kylie Minogues eye make up in her recent tour. Her hair styles are lovely, and the costumes are the most beautiful and flattering yet!

I have to add a few comments regarding concern over recording four shows instead of just one to keep it real. Well, anyone who has ever taken part in a show or production or act will know that any number of things can go wrong over the course of the show. In fact, last night, the sound completely cut out for a good few seconds during River Deep Mountain high, Celine and the cast continued to sing and dance until the sound came back. But had that been the one and only show they were recording, it would have been completely ruined. This is why they record the show over a few nights.

Those who attended the ANDHC album launch show will know that Celine's performances were broken up and in some cases repeated until everyone was happy they had a good version for the special when it aired. It would not be possible to stop and start a show like AND, so any problems technical or performance related have to be recorded. Recording a show over a few nights will ensure that any glitches can be cut out and replaced with an alternative performance if needed, as well as being able to provide alternative angles.

Anyway, back to last night! After we had met up before the show we were all totally hyped and ready to show Celine that her fans are back in town! We were determined to sing and dance and give as many standing ovations as we could manage and that's exactly what we did! You could clearly tell that Celine and her troop loved the audience participation and the show was absolutely better for it! My throat was completely hoarse afer all the screaming and my hands still hurt today from the clapping!

I'm not going to try give a song by song review, I'm sure one of the other guys will do a much better job than me, but I wanna say that last night was spectacular, Celine was beautiful and on top form and to be there with nearly 50 other fans was amazing! I felt incredibly proud to meet some of the people that I have spoken to for years on the internet and to share such a special event. A huge thanks to everyone who attended the show and gathering and to Celine for such a spectacular night! :flowers:

For those who don't know, he is in Vegas this weekend for the taping. He was one of the lucky few who got to meet Celine yesterday! He got to shake her hand, the lucky bastard! He also met Patrick, and Patrick knew he was a co-author of the Wishlist and so he told Vic the Wishlist was awesome! *dies* He said the show was incredible and the energy from the crowd is amazing. He'll come on and post a longer review. He's going tonight, sitting right up in the front row

I'll translate for you guys!

"We (Mathias, Stephanie, Cindy, Suzanne) from Holland were at the show last night." - There were only about 6 people in the audience, the concert wasn't sold out.

It was good Celine was in good shape. - - Céline was a vocal disaster that night. Even worse than in October 2003. So they used playback on all songs.

There were lots of camera's but it doesn't effect anyone's view. There were also cameraman onstage but they only walked a cross stage for a couple of times so that wasn't anoying. - The show is filmed by cameras borrowed from the 60's. We will be lucky if we'll get it in colour on the actual Mini Laser Disk release.

There was a fan this for river deep mountain high and her hair was styled differently for this song (was a bit wild). The performance of this song is absolutely great she can really move! Her moves during the percussion part of the song is fabulous.

It was SUCH a pleasure meeting you and was an even more wonderful opportunity to be in the audience with all of you, I have to say.

My hands still hurt but my feet hurt the MOST (pun intended). LOL. River Deep still turned out spectacular despite the sound glitch, I think, and I especially loved that we all kind of "helped her along" when it went out. You could actually HEAR us all and it really almost gave me goosebumps.

Really, it was such an awesome and unforgettable experience!!!!!

Even on the 19th, I had a lot of fun watching all the fans from above. It was such a thrill to see everyone up and dancing for some of the songs that never are danced to. It was a little dreamy!

And to everyone else I just have to say that I think this DVD is going to be positively amazing!

I'm just watching a live concert performance of Edith Piaf's and realize how amazing of a vocalist and interpreter she was. Light years ahead of Céline especially as far as the honesty, emotion and that legendary status was concerned. Watching her you knew actually you are watching a legend that changed the music world through her pain, her songs, her message. Pity that even the best DVD of A New Day... won't be able to match one tenth of the emotionional load of Edith Piaf's live performance. Céline has a long way to go in that respect.

I do hope to catch this little spark during her 2008 tournee in Europe. There is a chance this spark hasn't yet vanished and is waiting to be set free somewhere on a real world tour. Honesty I will search in Céline's performances in Europe in 2008. Till then there'll be a great DVD to enjoy, a DVD that has nothing really much essence behind it but it's still fun. At least it'll be fun to watch!

That's actually one of these reasons I don't give a damn about playback or whatever in Vegas. I don't care about the fakeness the show has written all over itself, it's Vegas and it's normal, it's Céline and it's to be expected in English. But it sure will be presented again in such a glorious way one would surely want to forget about the shallowness and conterntrate on the thick icing, =)

Just a thought after watching a reference of a performer - Edith Piaf - in action. :thumbsup2:

Edith Piaf was amazing in her time... but if Céline did something like that now... she'd be made a fool! Céline is on top of the entertainment business of today! No-one had a show like AND... and now there are all kinds of entertainers who want a show in Las Vegas... Céline set a trend!

And look at Céline in the 90ies.. she was one of the dominators of power ballads and heartfelt performances... Edith Piaf had a very rough life and put all that in her singing... something Céline mentally will never have...

I'm not saying what Céline's doing now is the best she ever did... and I certainly have no doubt about any spark for her next world tour! But you can't compare Céline with Edith... it's comparing apples to oranges!
