Releasing the 2 concerts separately doesn't make any sense. I hope they're not going to mix different songs from the other nights of the filming, it disrupts the FLOW of the show. It has to be seamless What they should do is pick the day that she sounded the best, something they didn't do for the CD.

Hahahahahaha! Wouldn't surprise me much. I actually thought they were going to do just that when there were talk about a new shooting back in 2004... Nothing surprises me anymore when it comes to SONY.

 

I hoped for so long that they would release the old DVD and the new DVD. And they mentioned it as a possibility even on the official site, which made me really happy. But then I thought once more and saw that it can't happen. It so obviously can't possibly happen. And the one and olny reason for that (no it is not that it would cost more) is simply because of the pre-recorded performances. Fans aswell as crtics could very well compare and judge and criticize just that. I rest my case.

 

The only way we'll get both DVD:s is if they during the recording days in early 2007 decide to take some of the usual pre-recorded performances live some nights and the other the other nights and mix them together so that the whole new DVD will be only live performances (which would be pure heaven). An alternative is that they re-record the pre-recorded performances and makes new versions (it's about time - especially for TPOL). But I don't believe they'll put all that work into it.

 

So there wont be both the entire old and new version. So the least thing we could hope for is the new DVD + the now removed performances which were in the show when they shot the DVD in 2003 (TFTEISYF, HYEBIL, AL, EJTE?? and Fever ).

What I would like to see in this DVD is that it will be Digitally Mastered in High Definition (like the Blue Ray HD that people have previously mentioned), with quality as good or even better than World Children's Day Concert! This way, I could put the DVD into my home entertainment system, shut off all the lights, turn up the audio levels, and EXPERIENCE "A New Day..." as though I was there!

Aside from actual performances from the show I'm really hoping that one of the things on the bonus disc will be the "You And I" music video. It would make perfect sense to put this on there since it's on the CD!

I think that Sony knows that the general public did not like Celine with blonde hair. Of couse, us fans want the performance...but I can only imagine them releasing the 2007 version...with some bonus footage. But who knows.

They use better cams than the WCD concert. I hope they don't fudge up the authoring and use lossless pcm audio

After reading the replies on this and 2 related threads, I have a pretty good idea of what the majority of fans want on this DVD/Blu-ray. In the coming days, we're going to compile a rough draft of the wishlist to include on the online petition! It will be available on this thread for everyone to see, you guys will have a chance to leave your input before we submit the final copy.

 

Better to do this before they start filming as this gives them time to prepare themselves, make changes, elicit ideas, and adjust accordingly, just to name a few. This is going to be a huge campaign!

Maybe we don't have any direct input into the artistic making of the video, (the walls do have ears, so let’s talk about what we want) but I for one have been disappointed in the past with concert videos.

 

I realize they are filming this over 5 days but what I am concerned about is continuity. I would really like to see them NOT edit down the time from the original performance. I would like to see Céline ready herself for the show and all that goes on just before the performance. If the audience applauds for 5 minutes, I want to see it. If Céline talks between songs, I want to see it. When Céline walks off stage at the end, I want to see where she goes. They did a great job on Du Stade. You felt like you were really there. I want to see that again here. I want it to feel like I was at another performance.

 

What do you all think Please voice your preferences. Maybe it will get back to the right people and we will get a video we all will talk about

Alright people, I have come up with a tentative wishlist for both the DVD and BD (Blu-ray Disc) based on what I've gathered from the suggestions thus far. Some of them are copied and pasted from other member's ideas. The following are the stuff to be included to create an extravanganza!!

 

DVD:

- ALL the songs that were removed during the life of the A New Day, either as bonus tracks and/or at least be included in the full versions of the concert.

- One complete show (all songs, the whole show all the way through). No mixing of different performances taken from other nights!

- 3 versions of the show; 1 for each major costume change (short blonde hair, long brown hair, and the latest changes in 8/2006).

- bonus disc with backstage footage, rehersal, behind the scenes, dressing room getting makeup done and etc, outtakes, meet & greets,

- Creation of A New Day (documentary about the making of the show, interviews with Franco, Mia, Mego, Celine, Rene, costume designers, band, dancers, musicians, footage of rehersals, footage of the concept and construction of the collesseum) Sketches of costumes and scenery (like they have in the first show program).

- Evolution of AND (documentary going through all the different iterations of the show, song changes, costume changes, the hair, etc)

- a day in the life of Celine, the dancers, and the band.

- booklet containing photos that never made it to the program book

- High Resolution photo gallery, add high res shots of just the LED backgrounds used in the show. They'd make some nice widescreen wallpapers.

- multi-anglge, ability to select different angles. Seat match feature...being able to select video and audio from the perspective of a number of potential "seats"

- different audio tracks (audience mix/stage mix?)

- I'd like to be able to see the full content from every camera used in this production!

- Use as many DVDs as needed! Maybe a 4 CD Deluxe Collector's edition or something.

 

 

BD aka Blu-ray Disc:

Since BD offers superior storage compared with other mediums, include everything from the DVD plus the stuff below:

- Dolby TrueHD audio (EXCLUSIVE to blu-ray):

* Playback is bit-for-bit identical to studio masters.

* 100 percent lossless audio, all of the time.

* Reproduces the audio experience the director intended you to hear.

- high video bitrates, above 30mbit/s. Macroblocking caused by the strobe lights will be evident if bitrates are too low, this is an issue with HD.

- in-movie experience with commentary from the artist/band members/crew etc. (another feature EXCLUSIVE to blu-ray). This feature is known as BD-Java for the tech hungry.

 

One final note, the BD should be encoded using MPEG-2 or the VC-1 codec. I'm such a high quality zealot

Great list, Vic. I would just add to the BD list the fact that Sony's Blu-Ray promoting campaign must include their top act artist and Céline should definitely headline one of the first BD concert releases. How big should the banner be? I assume 1600x1200 pixels MINIMUM? hihi

ofcours seb , i'm not saying that we should write it like this but i think that we should write about it too - wouldnt it be the most important and amazing thing? even if there is a slim chance that it will happen , wouldnt it be great to hear her singing everything live for this 1 event?!?
