DCCeline Posted January 2, 2024 at 05:05 PM Posted January 2, 2024 at 05:05 PM This setlist is weird because after WDMHBN you have a bunch of minor hits or album tracks and BYLM. I wonder how the audience thought of it back then. Quote
rfkavanagh Posted January 2, 2024 at 07:15 PM Posted January 2, 2024 at 07:15 PM That setlist looks very similar to how I remember the shows in Ireland/UK - maybe a bit out of order, as you note. After the success of Think Twice, she also opened those shows with an a cappella chorus of Think Twice from behind the stage before appearing and launching into the show proper (with Think Twice being performed in full much later in the show). 1 Quote

I wonder how the audience thought of it back then. The order of songs for this tour and particular is a bit odd, it seemed as though the order was constantly changing, and it seemed as though some songs were performed a bit randomly, think twice, for example, was performed in Berlin, Brunei, and some others, but not Jones Beach or Memphis. Interesting this setlist includes RDMH, we can probably assume that it was not performed in the Montreal, June 1996 concerts, nor was it performed in Jones Beach. Quote

I don’t recall that at the UK Falling Into You tour show I went to in 1996. There was no Think Twice opening at my show. It began with TPOL and the intro was the heartbeat-type intro. Quote

Think Twice was almost never performed in concert in the US until Vegas, as it was not a hit for her here. So it makes sense that it wouldn’t be in the set list for Jones Beach or Memphis. From my memory at least most of those concerts have no intro, although it seems Zürich audio could’ve had something, the clapping in the beginning almost sounds like they were following a certain rhythm, and obviously Memphis has Love Can Move Mountains as the intro. Not so sure I believe it either way.A rare setlist of her first Canadian concert of FIY Tour. Falling into You Tour - Live in Vancouver (May 19 1996). Setlist: 1. It's All Coming Back to Me Now2. Falling into You3. Seduces Me4. All by Myself5. The Power of Love6. River Deep, Mountain High7. Pour que tu m'aimes encore8. Think Twice9. Beauty and the Beast10. If You Asked Me To11. Where Does My Heart Beat Now12. Make You Happy13. Le ballet14. Misled15. Love Can Move Mountains16. Declaration of Love17. Because You Loved Me18. Call the Man19. Fly Notes: - Might be out of order- I found another comment from a different person who attended the concert, she was indeed open the show with IACBTMN.- It was stated that Make You Happy was performed. Whether it's true or confusion between songs. I haven't found any other review of that show or other english canada FIY tour show to confirm this.- No To Love You More and J'irai ou tu iras.- Two performances were broadcasted (BYLM and Fly). Both footages can be found online. Well it was written that it’s the first show of her Canadian leg of the tour and seemingly an early show of the tour. Not surprised if the setlist was different from the other because her tours are always like that. She would perform with a different setlist or performing a song she would later omit on the earlier shows of the tour before changing into the permanent setlist that would stay till the end of tour. But then again, IMO it could have easily replaced Misled, as that song wasn't SUCH a huge hit after all. Or maybe the audience just thought it was a snooze fest, and that's why they axed it. 2 Quote http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v75/daveyh84/incognito198701_zpsaaootxh1.jpgRick, ik hou van jou voor altijd!A New Day... has come 28/29 April & 2/3 May 07Antwerpen 13 et 14 mai,Paris 24 et 25 mai, Amsterdam 2 juinet Arras 7 juillet Chances Taken!!!How Do You Keep The Music Playing? - Celine Opening Night March 15th, March 16th

DCCeline Posted January 3, 2024 at 04:11 PM Posted January 3, 2024 at 04:11 PM Personally I find DOL embarassing. Its catchy but I could do without it on any tour. Especially at the expense of an actual single or hit Quote
smw Posted January 3, 2024 at 04:30 PM Posted January 3, 2024 at 04:30 PM It’s interesting… I think anytime Celine got more experimental with her music, it just didn’t click or ring true with a lot of her general fans. The songs that have resonated in recent years have been more in her classic style that she’s known for — Ashes, How Does A Moment Last Forever, etc. Quote

The only uptempo song that was really actually promoted and PUSHED toward success was “That’s The Way It Is.” Even IDAN was kind of just thrown out there and they expected Chrysler commercials to do all the work. Which is why it only reached #45 on the Hot 100. Her team nor the record company did anything more to push it upon its release. It was such a refreshing song for her in 1999. And they kind of rode that wave with her comeback album in 2002. It would’ve been interesting to see what kinds of songs she would’ve released in 2000 if she didn’t take a break. 1 Quote

The Think Twice a cappella opening was probably at the 1995 D'Eux Tour shows rather than the FIY Tour the following year - would make more sense that it was done closer to the huge TT single success rather than ~two years later. So many moments of her early career we are missing. Quote
