Celine is so "butch"

I think people are having different interpretations of the word butch lol! I dont think she's butch in the sense she looks like a guy or is overly 'manly' but I do think she has some traits! It makes her HER.

Here's what dictionary.com says : Exhibiting stereotypically or exaggeratedly masculine traits or appearance.

Celine does have a few masculine traits - the swagger at times, way she sits, stands... I think it empowers her :msn-wink:

Gee, if you take away Celine's swagger when she walks, her power stance, arm movements, air guitar and all the rest of her incredible Celinish traits, then we would have the equivalent of being entertained by Celine's "wax statue" from Caesar's!! Celine has so much extraordinary energy I feel all these traits is how she releases it both on stage and off..... It's what makes her "Celine" and maybe a little tomboyish, but not so much butch. :wink: Besides, it all gets balanced off with such grace when she is out there in those beautiful gowns....unless she goes on the attack at those Japanese Sumo (sp?) wrestlers in that beautiful yellow gown she wore in Japan! lol :sofunny: She's just perfect..... :yes:

watch her performance of Everybody's Talking My Baby Down in TCOML special Concert, and notice how "man" she was.

but i love seeing her like that. some may find it comical, but i think she's just enjoying what she's doing and that helps her express herself more.

ye i supose..i no i said butch but i dont even no how describe tht look of the blonde short hair....except from awful!!! i hope she never does tht again!! she is a stevo says very petite..i didnt realise how much until we met her in manchester...she even lookd shorter than what she is desribed!! what i can say thou is tht she was totly stunning her skin was emaculate...she was actually breath takin..still cant get over the fact tht i met her!! xx

Sure, Celine is a strong woman, but you still develop a protective feeling about her.

Céline is not butch. At times she can display some strong powerful traits, but definately NOT butch.

To me she's as feminine as can be, with that beautiful long wavy hair, all those pretty dresses, high heels and so on. SO beautiful and very feminine! :yes:

I do not remember who said it, but one of the highest compliments paid to Judy Garland was that she did not approach a song the way other female singers of the day did, and that she interpreted a song with the full all-out approach of the great male interpreters. Judy got to the heart of a song, explored its emotional core and communicated those emotions and insights to the listener. This is what made her great.

I have often thought of this remark in relation to Celine (although "butch" is not the word I would use). Her ablilty to find the heart of a song, both musically and emotionally, is unique today. View her recent performance of "At Seventeen" on YouTube with this in mind. I think you'll agree.

I think her behavior depends on "What should I ware today?" It depends on the mood...and stylists That's normal for every woman, I think. Have you ever seen her performing for example MHWGO or whatever, behaving like a butch? On the other hand how could she sing Tout l'or des hommes without moving so boyish? She is into the music. I love that! It doesn't matter in which moment she is feminine or tomboyish, it suits her And I like her blonde-short-haired period too!

shes absolutely tiny isn't she? And i'm not particularly referring to her height, but she isnt tall! She does wear massive heels all the time though so thats why people assume she is. When i saw her soundcheck, she had a dressing gown on, but still high heels. I think she wants to be tall! people always argue about her height and i wonder if its because of different height descriptions in different countries. I cant see her as being taller than 5'5, but as she wears massive heels all the time, she looks around 5'7.5 ish in them. Without heels though, no way. Shes pretty little. Everyone who meets her always notices that. She's not so skinny either - its definitley petite, not skinny, but if you dont see her right in front of you, it probably just looks skinny. She is slim, but she doesnt look sick at all. Her arms dont look too skinny, etc, they look normal weight wise, but they are just little. Her shoulders for example must go to half of mine width wise, and i'm normal size! Same for everything on her - shes just little! I actually think her petiteness makes her look like a doll. This tiny thin comes towards you, the only thing big about her is her eyes and hair! The rest is tiny! Everything!

As many on here, I would NEVER consider her butch either. I think that Celine is as girly as they come. She loves SHOES for one thing and she loves dress up and everything. She might act like a boy sometimes, but she's not butch because of it. :]

I don't think she's short. I met her and she was taller than many people around her. Petite, yes, but not short. :thumbsup2:

I would never consider Celine as butch- even with the short hair. That wasn't butch- that was just a disaster. She's too petite to be called butch. The standing with legs apart on stage is just her power stance- but I don't think she goes around scratching her crotch and lifting her leg to fart or anything. She's a classy chicken x

Butch is a probably not the best word to describe celine but she is definetely tomboy-ish especially more noticeable when she had the blonde hair (which i really loved by the way, she looked so cool!!!)

no way butch - just french...hahaha just some mannerisms for example how she sits sometimes and the way she raises her shoulders and smacks her hands together in a clapping motion when she laughs - more geeky than butch id say.

she's quite feminine id say - just that some of her geeky mannerisms take some of that away sometimes.
