Special Benefit Show in Montreal - 7/14

Well not really all that pissed cuzz it's pointless but as Renato learned that in mid-July she's doing an accoustic concert for an audience of 600 gamblers where she'll be performing songs from inter alia 1F4T, her best album. I find it really pity that they are again missing another opportunity and instead of taping this one and releasing it on DVD it'll be again wasted for ppl that do not care for her in the slightest. But she will sing for them nonthelessbutstillofcourse. That's a little slap in the face to her own fans and shows off how money horney Reney and Céline are. Edited July 11, 2006 at 04:24 PM by siur

They spoke about it on radio as I recall.

 

EDIT: I just read Céline will be singing with Garou as well and the profit will be given to her foundation. Well, ok it's nice BUT she still doesn't seem to care about her fans. That's my impression. If she did we would have this concert televised or released on DVD/CD.

Actually I think it does, Tal. She is exactly aware how the whole France thinks of her Vegas gig and how her fans feel about not being able to see her. It is ironical that she refferred to "One Heart" as an album for "fans that cant see her in Vegas" cuzz 1) she had not the decency to record not even the half of the tracks specially for the CD and 2) she was payed 10 million to record IDAN which then Sony put onto OH and marjeted it as new album. Im not being bitte here, just observing. Shes got all the right to do so but I still think its a lil unfair towards me and you.

Well I DO indeed care and you as well since you are posting actively on a messageboard dedicated to her. Then again I am merely sharing my impressions concerning hers and Reney's decisions that to be honest have this tendency to rather alienate the fans than actually prove what she's been repeating in many interviews of hers.

 

My point is Céline may be diplomatic but she is seriously inconsistent with what she's saying.

Well said Joy...I totally agree! Celine does care about her fans, I know from experience that she does, so please don't say she doesn't. I think it would be cool for a dvd/cd from this event too, but you can't say that if one doesn't come from it, she doesn't care about her fans. She's busy, this is her time off from Vegas, so my hope for her is that she just relaxes and enjoys the time with her family. After all, it is much deserved!

I do find this extremely ironic, especially when in another topic fans are dreaming of her doing an acoustic concert.

 

It is just s typical that each time she's actually doing someting different and something really special wish her fans would adore to take part of it is an exclusive event.

Firstly when did she say OH was for people who can't come to the show? That was ANDLILV. OH was to give her more material to put in the show, which is all BS since we well know it was a compilation of filler for two Chrysler songs as well as one last big album release before Vegas tied her down.

 

Secondly, this is a private affair. Its not even being televised so why would she even consider taping it and releasing such an unproduced show on DVD? And before you jump down my throat by unproduced I mean poor lighting....a lame audience...etc.

Tal, in this certain promotional radio interview for European radio stations Céline said that OH is kind of gift for her fans who won't be able to come and see her show in Vegas. This interview is even documented on the Polish Sony Music site. That's why my reaction comes from. The whole Chrysler campaign was a "bit" tacky since they have used TWO songs from ANDHC and TWO songs from OH but that's beside the point.

 

She's doing it for charity which is fine with me but then again she better not whine in her next interview for the French Gala how Vegas exhausts her and how she would love to perform for the French again. Point is she could if she only wanted to.

I agree with you here Tal... I wouldn't want this on DVD either b/c its not going to be a big production and the audience isn't going to be filled with actualy fans...

I still hope one day, they'll do another TV special of one of her concerts. The last one was A New Day opening thing. She'll maybe perform for the 400th anniversary of Quebec in 2008, hopefully this one will be shown, and it's a major event, not some concert on a golf course.

Of course Céline cares for her fans. I might have put it badly into words: It seems to me that some of her moves are really more commercially driven than the aactual will of hers to offer something high quality to her fans. But I know, I know, it was kinda harsh statement of mine. Of course she's adorable and caring but when I hear the words Reney, casino, golf, private concert and French songs I get easily agitated especially that she will sing songs that she has never ever sung live before.

I can understand why you would think that, and hey, maybe she is doing a little experimenting to see how the the jazzy/acoustic will sound and be recieved before she goes full blown with it? It at least looks like a step in the right direction!

see now that i agree with. although its like 99% rene and 1% celine imo. i think he just books her to do stuff and she does it. i mean shes said many many times shes almost completely uninvolved in business stuff. and if this is for charity then it isnt commercial, is it?

 

what would have been nice is if for her 25th anniversary she taped a special that would air in quebec and parts of europe where maybe she sings 8 of her greatest french hits deconstructed....like just piano and/or guitar. maybe take that and the special that was aired with compilations of interviews and released that as a dvd...
