reamary Posted August 2, 2011 at 06:16 PM Posted August 2, 2011 at 06:16 PM Ahh, I wish I could exercise every day, I hate having to have "rest days"!! I always feel much better in the evening when I've been to Bodystep or gone running or something, I mean I feel better in my "head", you know? But I know that muscles need to rest too... I would've wanted to go running today, but I had to have a day off cause I already had 3 intense training days in a row and tomorrow's Bodystep day again. I just wish it was possible to exercise even moooore! reamary Posted August 3, 2011 at 06:28 PM Posted August 3, 2011 at 06:28 PM Well, I wish I could love to do exercise lik you guys do !!! And I wish I have the time like to do it right now When you find something you love enough, you will want to do it more and more!! Once you get really addicted! Power walking/Running are very effective exercises that don't need to have days off to do. Do them everyday if you wish. Yeah, I love running, but my running exercises are usually pretty intense (cause I just love running fast! ), so that I still have to have days off every once in a while. And after a Bodystep training, it's good to have an "easier" exercise the day after, cause it's quite intense as well... But fortunately 2 days off a week is usually enough, haha! Sometimes I wish I could be an athlete, or a fitness instructor, so that I could exercise for work! A great Bodystep class today!! ddmone99 Posted August 5, 2011 at 02:30 PM Posted August 5, 2011 at 02:30 PM I exercised for the first time in almost 2 months today!!!! First my regular morning yoga. Then I did some cardio. I'm getting ready for aerobics and strength in a few hours. I just did a few sit ups. It feels so good to get back into my regular routine. Quote You'll never see the courage i know. It's colours richness won't appear within your view. I'll never glow the way that you glow. Your presence dominates the judgements made on you. But as the scenery grows, I see in different lights. The shades and shadow undulate in my perception. My feelings swell and strech, I see from greater heights. I understand what I am still too proud to mention to you. You'll say you understand. But you don't understand. You'll say you'd never give up seeing eye to eye. But never is a promise and you can't afford to lie. You'll never touch the things that I hold. The skin of my emotions lies beneath my own. You'll never feel the heat of this soul. My fever burns me deeper than I've ever shown. But as the scenery grows, I see in different lights. The shades and shadows undulate in my perception. My feelings swell and strech, I see from greater heights. I realize what i am now too smart to mention to you. You'll say you understand. You'll never understand. I'll say I'll never wake up knowing how or why. I don't know what to believe in. You don't know who I am. You'll say I need appeasing when i start to cry. reamary Posted August 6, 2011 at 06:39 PM Posted August 6, 2011 at 06:39 PM I'm kinda nuts when it comes to exercising. I either do a lot or way too little. I wish i could find some balance!! Aching muscles are never fun!! What is spinning class like? I have never done it, but i have heard great things!! What is the speed and how long is the class? Hahaha, yeah balance would be good. Aching muscles aren't fun, but then again when they ache (like after a gym workout), at least you feel like you've done something! My muscles aren't exactly aching now, but they're just "tired" because of running and Bodystepping. But today I didn't do anything else but stretching, so my legs have had time to "recover", so that tomorrow I'm planning to go run 7 or 10 kilometres! Well there are different kind of spinning classes, but normally the class lasts 55 minutes. At least at our gym. But then there are also classes that can last 45 minutes (usually "easier" classes) and classes that last 75 minutes. Hmm, I don't know how to describe the speed, but you can yourself affect the intensity of the class quite much. The spinning bikes have this "resistance controller" (I SO do not know if that's the correct word for it in English!! ), with which you can adjust the resistance, I mean how heavy it feels on your legs. And usually the instructors also give you the option to go slower if you like, if you don't want to care about the rhythm of the music. Yeah, so the speed also varies a bit depending on the instructor, and what kind of music they play.. Actually the classes vary in all the ways depending on the instructor. Some of them give more intense classes than others. But in all the classes the first few songs are usually warm up songs, when you just pedal sitting on the bike. Later on the class you also kind of "get up" on the bike and pedal in a "standing" position. You know? Which is again much more effective than just sitting.Anyway, it's kinda hard to try to describe it, especially in English , but spinning is great workout, it's definitely worth trying if you have a chance! I think the most important thing in the class is that the music is good... it gives you so much energy! If it's some lame music (and not played loud enough ) it's not as fun as it could be. reamary Posted November 8, 2011 at 09:58 AM Posted November 8, 2011 at 09:58 AM How are everyone's exercising/dieting plans going on? I decided I would have a "zero tolerance" on all delicacies on November. Normally I don't even eat that much sweets/chocolate or any of that stuff, but lately I've been eating a little more than usual, I think.. And I tried on some pants this weekend, which have always been very tight, but now they felt even more tight than a year ago, so that I just barely made it into them.. So, cause I feel like I want to start some sort of a "project", I decided I won't eat anything sweet on November. Well except a very small chocolate pudding as a dessert on Mondays, cause that's when I have 2 classes in a row at the gym, so I figured I earn it then. And I thought that if I told about this small project in here, it helps to keep up with it! I hope I get to go to the gym this weekend..! It's a really strange feeling when you're used to going to the gym/running etc. every night, and then all of a sudden you have to stay home. nano Posted November 18, 2011 at 06:31 AM Posted November 18, 2011 at 06:31 AM Wow, congrats!! Thanks. I have to say I'm not SKINNY, I'll never be. I have big bones and my body type is quite masculine...but I'm starting to FEEL skinny, that's the most important thing. I was cleaning my closet 2 weeks ago and tried on some old jeans that I haven't been able to fit in about 5 years and they fit!!! I'm so happy! I know I can do better, all I do is eat a bit less and healthier and try to go jogging every day. I know I should go to the gym, but I hate the gym..and lifting weights at home is just so hard! reamary Posted November 18, 2011 at 09:33 PM Posted November 18, 2011 at 09:33 PM (edited) Yes! I hate that feeling. However, it's the only time I let my body rest is when I get sick. So it's probably not the worst thing to happen. Hehe, yeah, it's pretty much the same with me.. the only time I really let my body rest is when I get sick. Normally I work out 5 to 6 times a week and most of them are quite intense workouts, so yes, probably not the worst thing to sometimes be FORCED to rest. And I know that you should have like these "easier" or less intense weeks on working out, and every once in a while I get the feeling like I should have an easy week now, but then it never succeeds.. Cause I always end up going to the Bodystep classes and get so enthusiastic there that it's far from being less intense. So I think this taking it easy thing can actually do me good now. (As long as it doesn't last TOO long.. I mean I need to get to the gym next week. ) Thanks. I have to say I'm not SKINNY, I'll never be. I have big bones and my body type is quite masculine...but I'm starting to FEEL skinny, that's the most important thing. Yeah, that's the most important thing, to feel good in your body. And that's like such an amazing feeling when you try on some old clothes that you haven't been able to fit in for ages, and then when you all of a sudden do! Great! reamary Posted January 10, 2012 at 09:21 PM Posted January 10, 2012 at 09:21 PM Aaahhh I'm so addicted to Les Mills classes!!! I hate the fact that I should have rest days and not go working out every day but I guess that's just for my own good.. I can say I know EXACTLY how you feel! I hate having to have rest days too and not working out every day. I love so much going to the gym (or running) every single day, I was just thinking about it today that it's always my favourite time of the day, when I can start preparing to leaving for gym and then when I'm at there and well of course the "after feeling" is pretty awesome too. So it's nothing but annoying to have a rest day! But yeah, it is for your own good though, cause if you didn't have rest days, it wouldn't take long until your body would probably get over exhausted.. So that's why I force myself to have one rest day a week too (or sometimes two days). Which is your favourite Les Mills class by the way?? Mine's definitely BodyStep! BodyPump is the one I've been doing for the longest, and it's my second favourite. Occasionally I go to BodyJam too, and then I've tried Combat and Balance a few times.. I'd like to go to Balance more often, but it's at such a "bad" time that I never go... :/ Do you have BodyAttack at your gym? That's the one I would reeeeally love to try, but we don't have it. This is just awesome! But yeah I'm giving myself 2 rest days a week, since besides going to gym I'm having my dance classes too and it is pretty rough. But I like it rough Hmmm well I love Balance, Sh'bam, Bodyjam and Bodypump the most. I have only tried Step once so I don't really know about it. I should go there more often but my favourite instructor ( ) is having her Bodystep class at 16:30 and I get out of school at 16.... Hmmhh and I really don't wanna change the instructor!!!! I should try her Combat too but the timing just sucks! Yesterday she had her Combat before Jam and I took a look at her class and maaaannnnnn.. I have never seen her that mad and furious I'd really love to try that. And I love yoga too, but my favourite beyond anything is without a doubt Zumba!!! Anniina Posted January 11, 2012 at 01:03 PM Posted January 11, 2012 at 01:03 PM And yeah we're having Bodyattack too I've heard that it's reeeally tough and there's lots of running and you burn tons of calories.. And in my gym there's also this class called HukkaArmy which is..well,kinda rough. The instructor said that "In this class, there are spitting cups in the sides. So, if you feel like spitting or throwing up, feel free to do that." They don't have that class this spring anymore because there wasn't enough people in the classes Quote "If you follow your dreams it means you follow your heart. Yeah well that's probably a good decision, to have 2 rest days a week. Cause of course the rougher the workouts, the better you also need to rest. And about Bodystep, I think you should definitely give it a few more "tries" at least! I think it always takes a few times to get familiar with the board and everything, and then it comes much more fun! But yeah I get that you don't want to change the instructor..... Oh and I love Zumba too!! I think Zumba classes really depend on the instructor though. I like this Sunday class that we have, cause this instructor has the most "dance like" class than anyone else, and cause I would really love to go to real dance classes too, so that's why I'm going to this particular Zumba class cause it's the closest to dance that it gets. And yeah we're having Bodyattack too I've heard that it's reeeally tough and there's lots of running and you burn tons of calories.. And in my gym there's also this class called HukkaArmy which is..well,kinda rough. The instructor said that "In this class, there are spitting cups in the sides. They don't have that class this spring anymore because there wasn't enough people in the classes Yeah I've heard too that Bodyattack is really tough, possibly even tougher than Bodystep! I have an image in my head that the moves in Bodyattack would be sort of something between Step and Combat.. But I don't know what's it like in reality. Except that it's a tough class! But that's why I would love to try it! And wow, I would LOVE to try that HukkaArmy thing..! Sounds pretty intense!!! But that's the problem with really rough classes I think, that there aren't enough people coming to the classes..... Oh, and it bugs me soooo much that at my gym, they cut down one Step class this spring!! We've always had 3 classes a week (Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays) but now they took the Friday class away... So stupid. Though I guess it's cause my favourite instructor is supposedly going to get her knee fixed (that's what I heard), so that she couldn't have Step class for now, and we only have 2 more Bodystep instructors, so maybe either one of them has time to have the Friday class... But still I don't get it, cause the classes have always been so popular, and also last spring they only had 2 instructors, but still 3 classes cause one of them had 2 classes then... Well, hopefully next fall they'll bring the 3rd class back again. Well anyway this wasn't supposed to become a rant about the missing Bodystep class, I got a little carried away, sorry!
