justinecoria Posted July 11, 2006 at 01:13 PM Posted July 11, 2006 at 01:13 PM Many people came in this thread to say "Celine did playback", but why isn't anyone responding to what I said (that it was performed live, and that the version on the CD is the version she sang live at the Olympics, where they just removed the little part of "wooohyeah" because it wouldn't sound good on CD). I gave some proof, didn't I ?I just want you guys to say if you bought the CD with the song (or listened to the song at the radio) before Celine sang it at the Olympics. Because, if that song was an original song, it's not that sure that it was playback. Moreover, the "woooohyeah" goes well with the rest of the song, it's not like it's "another" voice. Plus Celine says "Merci, thank you" at the end. So the mic would have been off for the whole song except the part when she belts and the end ? Quote
lesfrancaise Posted September 4, 2007 at 04:56 AM Posted September 4, 2007 at 04:56 AM I don't think it's in the album THE COLOUR OF MY LOVE... it was included at Faling Into You and here in the Philippines, they annually release an Asian Package and it was entitled FALLING INTO YOU, ASIAN TOUR CD and it was included in her Disc 2 CD of Falling Into You (Track # 1) Quote
Lisi_Dion Posted September 4, 2007 at 12:23 PM Posted September 4, 2007 at 12:23 PM I think it's sung live because you can hear her sometimes breathing through the microphone..... And I'm pretty sure that a playback performance can also be very risky. Imagine the tape suddenly breaks down. This would be much embarrasing than singing a wrong tone. rhapsodion Posted September 5, 2007 at 03:44 AM Posted September 5, 2007 at 03:44 AM As someone has already posted as well, I remember when I was watching the ceremony on TV back in 1996, the broadcaster said that the Olympic committee had requested to have every performance pre-recorded to make sure everything would go perfectly. I don't think the broadcaster would lie about that, so I truly believe that it was a playback. And I totally accept their reason. Quote
celinerulz91 Posted September 5, 2007 at 06:01 AM Posted September 5, 2007 at 06:01 AM While i want to beleive she sang it live, i really think its playback... just because it want on an album or on radio before the olympics doesn't mean she hadnt already recorded it. RLAAMJR. Posted September 5, 2007 at 06:25 AM Posted September 5, 2007 at 06:25 AM I do think it was live. If it was only lipsynch, then that's ok. and she sure did make it look like live. Quote
tcherno Posted September 5, 2007 at 10:05 AM Posted September 5, 2007 at 10:05 AM i think it was live Quote
cmcdaori Posted September 5, 2007 at 01:18 PM Posted September 5, 2007 at 01:18 PM Thanx for this question.I was confused too, trying to figure out did she really sing live or on playback...i was watching it over and over to see,but as Celine sings live almost as the cd record it's hard to find out,so in any way now my doubts are finished...Thanx guys... PrincesseJen Posted September 5, 2007 at 04:27 PM Posted September 5, 2007 at 04:27 PM (edited) This song WAS sung LIVE! The LIVE performance was recorded and that's what you hear on the Collector's Series album! I've become a pro at telling if Celine is singing live or not. I taught myself how to sing by mimicking other people. I know a recorded studio verison of a song in a heart beat! When Celine doesn't sing live her lips quiver rapidly and more often then her live singing. Most of the time when she sings "The Power of Love" the first verse is sung live but when the 1st chorus starts the rest is all pre-record track! We all know Celine CAN sing! But if she were to use her full voice all the time, she would have no voice left by now!http://smileyset.com/temp/PRINCESS/rolleyes.gif Edited September 5, 2007 at 04:29 PM by Sarahj21230 Quote http://i188.photobucket.com/albums/z30/Sarahj21230/Celine%20and%20Josh/pinkroseCeline-1.jpg
rodrigo_alka Posted September 5, 2007 at 05:32 PM Posted September 5, 2007 at 05:32 PM i don't think that was live . . . she exagerated all the song like when she does playabck.... Quote http://www.sportsevents.net/events/images/celine_dion.jpg .......I want you to need me........
marckvls Posted September 5, 2007 at 09:16 PM Posted September 5, 2007 at 09:16 PM Oh, come on you all..Its OBVIOUS that it was playback!!! I think its so ridiculous to ever imagine that Celine could sing a song so perfectly just as the album... No artist do that! You're not from this world That's the same for O Holy Night in CBS Special And still I have a friend that claims she sang all "The Colour Of My Love" dvd live, even clearly written LIVE only after Can't Help Falling In Love... patetic Quote Love comes to those who believe it...
deelicious07 Posted September 5, 2007 at 10:45 PM Posted September 5, 2007 at 10:45 PM Anyone who has ever performed at the Olympics did not sing live. It is just too loud in the stadium for anyone to hear the singer. Certainly not a choice Celine would make but the performance was incredible nonetheless. im watching The Power of the Dream video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ktd4jwwZUvA did she sing live? or not? I think she sang live. Quote
deelicious07 Posted September 5, 2007 at 10:48 PM Posted September 5, 2007 at 10:48 PM Celine sings live very often and sounds beautiful all the time. Of course it will not sound exactly like the record because then everyone would say she was lip-singing. She has to give her voice a break too. At least she is not as bad as Mariah Carey or Britney Spears when it comes to lip-synching. Oh, come on you all..Its OBVIOUS that it was playback!!! I think its so ridiculous to ever imagine that Celine could sing a song so perfectly just as the album... No artist do that! KimboCosmo Posted September 6, 2007 at 04:14 AM Posted September 6, 2007 at 04:14 AM I could care less what she did, that performance was amazing! One of my fav's. Lisi_Dion Posted September 6, 2007 at 04:34 PM Posted September 6, 2007 at 04:34 PM I wish that she would sing live more often...Everytime when I hear her singing live, tears are rolling down my face but when it's obvious that it is alip-synchronized performance I'm a little bit dissapointed and bored . Watching a playback performance don't give me this overwhelming feeling that I have when I watch a live performance.......So Celine, whenever it is possible, please sing live...... p.S. for example Kelly Clarkson said once she would never do a playback performance...and I think she hasn't even done one so far Lisi Quote _________________________________________Me, looking like Celine......hehe!!! http://img358.imageshack.us/img358/3471/celinedionscreencap12pc1.jpgBy Lisi140
Bell Posted September 7, 2007 at 07:19 AM Posted September 7, 2007 at 07:19 AM It certainly was playback but it wasn't her choice so no one could use that against Celine anyway. When you have billions of people watching from all over the world you have to make sure nothing goes wrong. You can't risk a microphone problem, feedback, interference or the many other problems that can happen during a live performance. So the Olympic production committee insists that all songs are recorded in advance. It's no big deal. I agree. Quote 16 YEARS A FORUM MEMBER
RLAAMJR. Posted September 8, 2007 at 06:19 AM Posted September 8, 2007 at 06:19 AM It doesn't really matter though it would be better if Celine sang it live. But all we know is that Celine recorded that song and she sang the song very, very, very well, right? I know everybody will agree with me. Quote
