Cambroneroj Posted June 17, 2006 at 06:12 PM Posted June 17, 2006 at 06:12 PM When I saw Celine for the first time here in Houston back in 99 she mentioned about this song titled To love you more and how successful was in Japan or some part of Asia , she also says the same on the live in Memphis concert .Ok my question is, this song was on the 'Lets talk about love' cd for the first time ? but if so why was not released on the falling into you cd since she sang it on the falling into you tour. Im sure one of you know the answer and the story behind this song, thanks Quote
songbird Posted June 17, 2006 at 06:19 PM Posted June 17, 2006 at 06:19 PM For all I know, the song was recorded around 1994-1995 and was promoted in Japan at that time, becoming a big hit - there was a single CD too. It was first released on an album on Celine's "Live a Paris" (1996), as a bonus track. She later performed it during the FIY and LTAL tour because it's a great song that suits her voice perfectly. It was also on some editions of the LTAL album. Though it wasn't heavily promoted in Europe or the USA, it is considered one of her greatest hits. That's why it was included on ATW. Hope this info helps and I also hope I haven't left anything out. 1 Quote Celine Challenge :: Over 10.000 beautiful pictures of our diva! http://celinedion.evonet.ro/coppermine/
celinefanonline Posted June 17, 2006 at 08:24 PM Posted June 17, 2006 at 08:24 PM well this song was recorded in 1995 and it was the theme song for a Japanese drama, and it went to #1 in Japan!this song was first included in the rerelease of The colour of my love.and then Falling Into You Asian version, Live A Paris and LTAL US version! 1 Quote Courage don't you dare fail me now!
danger Posted June 17, 2006 at 08:32 PM Posted June 17, 2006 at 08:32 PM I don;t think it was strange....TLYM was a great song but I don't think that it fits to any of the previous albums...and maybe couse it hadn't been added to any of the albums its popularity has grown so much Quote
Rodrigo in Brazil Posted June 18, 2006 at 03:45 AM Posted June 18, 2006 at 03:45 AM I love To Love You More! There was even a Brazilian version made popular here in Brazil by a singer called Daniel. But off course, Celine's version is a thousand times better! 1 Quote See Ya!Rodrigo.
celdia_5 Posted June 18, 2006 at 04:08 AM Posted June 18, 2006 at 04:08 AM i love this song and it's really beautiful but i didn't think about this question!now i love to know what's the story?really!? if one of you knows the answer please send it soon. Quote
Nando Férri Posted June 18, 2006 at 06:07 AM Posted June 18, 2006 at 06:07 AM Here in Brazil, it was a veryyyyyyyy big hit in 1999. It's very popular. It was theme of a very hit brazilian drama... I think it's very beautiful... Quote http://25.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_m4ejungtQy1r9swpco6_250.gif
alextrusca Posted June 18, 2006 at 06:34 AM Posted June 18, 2006 at 06:34 AM The song was recorded in 1994 and was first released on the "The Colour Of My Love" special japanese edition. It was a limited edition...I'll show you the pics. There was a single too, more of a promo, I think...The single included the instrumental version of the song.It was later included on "Live A Paris" for the European public. You know the Amercan public had become aware of this song only in 1997, when it was released on the US "Let's Talk About Love" edition. It was released again in 1996 on the "Falling Into You" album, but on the Asian, Chinese and Japanese editions only.It was kinda of a meltdown...They chose to heavily promote the song in Asia and Japan and keep it away from Europe and the USA. Here are the pics from the "The Colour Of My Love" japanese limited edition: Here are the rare promo CD and the single: Quote
divaceline Posted June 18, 2006 at 07:15 AM Posted June 18, 2006 at 07:15 AM This is the one song that appears on no less than five of Celine's albums. That's incredible. And it serves as a testament to its popularity. What a beautiful and passionate song. I love the fact that it was featured in a Japanese drama -- I love those Asian dramas -- so romantic just like the song. The first time I heard it here in America was on the 1997 VH1 Honors Concert. I was like, "What song is this?! It's absolutely gorgeous! Why is it not on my FIY CD?!" So I hunted down an import of the Special Asian Tour Package Edition and there it was! Popped it in my CD player ... let me tell you, it's been a love affair ever since! I remember hearing it for the first time on my local radio station in May of 1998 (it was the next radio single after MHWGO) ... let me tell you I was SO excited!! Finally, this song got its chance to shine here in America! The song went on to spend 8 weeks at the top of the Billboard AC charts. Hooray!! And then she performed the song on the Rosie O'Donnell show! Lovely ... So glad it's in A New Day ... rightfully deserved! Thank you David Foster and Junior Miles for the beautiful song! Be The Man, too! 1 Quote
Koolan Posted June 18, 2006 at 07:55 AM Posted June 18, 2006 at 07:55 AM This song was really popular here that a local radio station, Z100 even played the Tony Moran Remix, which really surprised me. I fel in love with this song the first time heariiing it The radio stations here never play her remixes (apart from mhwgo, go figure). Bellamy Posted June 18, 2006 at 09:29 AM Posted June 18, 2006 at 09:29 AM I don't think it's written by David Foster and Junior Miles back in 1995 for Celine´s 1996 Falling Into You album. It was written for Kryzler & Kompany(Taro Hakase's band) as an instrumental for the Japanese TV play "The Lovers". Then the Fuji TV think they want an international star sing the song to make the TV play a hit. And Celine was in Japan, so they asked her. And she agreed. The rest is history. alextrusca Posted June 18, 2006 at 12:35 PM Posted June 18, 2006 at 12:35 PM (edited) There are 3 versions of this song... 1.English version released on the LTAL European, Asian, Japanese editions.2.Japanese version, released on the compilation specified by Songbird3.A third version in English which served as a promo for what?BTW, I think it's the best version of the song. Disadiva, "TLYM" was never released on the japanese version of LTAL.It was released on the US edition and on the Asian editon, but only as a remix if I remember exactly, on a double CD, limited album. firebird Posted June 18, 2006 at 05:32 PM Posted June 18, 2006 at 05:32 PM It is chapter 30 in the biography. It says that Robi Wada, the manager of Kryzler and Company contacted Sony Japan, so they contact René, and he didn't hear from them for some time, but they met backstage when Céline gave a concert in Japan together with David Foster. David Foster, who directed the Tokyo Orchestra that accompanied Céline that evening, had been contacted by Fuji to write the Koi Bitoyo theme song. He'd already thought of a few melodies he could use for the duet.A few hours later, in a suite at the Capitol Tokyu Hotel, Céline, René, and Wada listened to the cassette with the music of Krysler & Company. Céline really liked the sound and the rich harmonies of Taro Hakase's violin. The next day, Réne asked Foster to listen to the casette. He immediatly sat down and wrote the song in which voice and violin respond to one another.Céline's voice and Taro's violin made a splendid combination. Ironically, the words were written by a competitor, a close friend of David Foster's, Montreal multimillionaire Edgar Bronfman Jr. Bronfman was the CEO of Universal, which owned MCA. Sony's rival in the record business. Under the name of Junior Miles, he wrote the words to "To Love You More." (Celine : The Authorized Biography, p. 339-340) 1 Quote

cdfan Posted June 19, 2006 at 10:42 AM Posted June 19, 2006 at 10:42 AM Am I right that the version on All the way is different that the one on Live a Paris? (I think that the violin solo is shorter) Quote
