VanMerlin Posted May 25, 2006 at 07:02 PM Posted May 25, 2006 at 07:02 PM I had to turn the channel...within a few seconds of hearing Meatloaf. I didn't even get the chance to hear Kat, and I would have liked to. But I couldn't bear it. Quote
Koolan Posted May 25, 2006 at 10:10 PM Posted May 25, 2006 at 10:10 PM take meatloaf out and it would've been so much better. He looks like a bum he shook when singing the first lines. krazy_kool_dude Posted May 25, 2006 at 10:23 PM Posted May 25, 2006 at 10:23 PM sadly (or not...don't know i haven't seen the full performance yet!) but there's only an 11 second clip of it http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nwO4mgCLfvQ Quote http://img345.imageshack.us/img345/4136/siggyju5.jpg
VanMerlin Posted May 25, 2006 at 10:39 PM Posted May 25, 2006 at 10:39 PM Come to think of it, the entire show was bizarre. Meatloaf was horrible, Toni Braxton was horrible, what did Clay do to his hair!!?, LIVE sang right over Daughty (who people actually wanted to hear), the Burt Bacharach medley was pointless, and what was with Prince having his own spotlight on the end, having nothing to do with AI at all? It was one those times when, seeing all the guest stars show up from behind that screen, I was thinking, "Gawd, I wish Celine wasn't tied to Vegas and were still able to do these things!" Quote

krazy_kool_dude Posted May 26, 2006 at 08:03 AM Posted May 26, 2006 at 08:03 AM wel the full video is up http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mjKC_3hLXcs and i'm thinking that the shaking was a put on! (could be wrong though!) ..."The were nights when the wind were so cold". As for the vocals, i don't like it much (from either one of them) but i do think the girl did it slightly better. (could be wrong though!) ..."The were nights when the wind were so cold".<{POST_SNAPBACK}>He doesn't need to shake from the beginnning to the end though. It's over extravagant. steinman Posted May 26, 2006 at 05:19 PM Posted May 26, 2006 at 05:19 PM In defence of Meat Loaf and Kat, and as a Jim Steinman fan, and fan of this song to, very much Celine's version also, Meat Loaf did look a bit nervous performing the song. He usually has a powerful voice, so I would see this as a one off I reckon. Celine's version was really good and would be hard to beat, but this was only 2 minutes of the song , so we really can't compare it with what happened on AI. Kay McPhee, she has a great voice, not as powerful as Celine, but still really good. We gotta remember kiddies, this was a live show, with about a week rehearsals, so let's give em a break eh. Quote
Adam868 Posted May 26, 2006 at 07:54 PM Posted May 26, 2006 at 07:54 PM I think it started out bad with Meatloaf solo, but then turned into a beautiful duet. Quote
oneheart29 Posted May 26, 2006 at 08:10 PM Posted May 26, 2006 at 08:10 PM take meatloaf out and it would've been so much better. He looks like a bum he shook when singing the first lines. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> haha lol!!! I was thinking the same thing. Why was he shaking? It made that whole first line totally butchered. On the other hand I like taylor because he didnt change his image to *pop candy*..he stayed true to himself. Katherine is too bouncy and artificial. ZoraSourit Posted May 26, 2006 at 08:40 PM Posted May 26, 2006 at 08:40 PM I absolutely love Katharine (and she should have won... but that's another subject lol). I listened to the performance. I think Kat sounded great on that. Meatloaf was just horrible... the way he sang, he was off key and he was out of timing with the band. But the refrain Kat did alone sounded absolutely amazing. While I was listening I was thinking if only Meatloaf was Céline... lol I would love to see them perform that song together. thevoice Posted May 26, 2006 at 08:59 PM Posted May 26, 2006 at 08:59 PM BTW - was it prince in the end or michael jackson?! Quote
LVCeline Posted May 27, 2006 at 02:53 AM Posted May 27, 2006 at 02:53 AM (edited) That had the potential of making sensitive ears bleed. Holy crap was that just awful. Meatloaf was completely off key during his solos, and sounded like he just rolled off a garbage truck. It was an awful rendition, and a complete embarrassment to the original version. If you can't at least make it DECENT, then don't bother. AI is such crap. Celine could sing that song out of her butt and it would have sounded better than that awful ruckus. ashleylovesceline Posted May 29, 2006 at 09:55 AM Posted May 29, 2006 at 09:55 AM Ugh. I didn't like Katharine the whole season, I don't think she should have made it to the final two--- but I am glad Taylor won. I was rooting for either him or Chris. But anyways--- I had to turn the volume down on that song, they were both horrible. And I used to like Meatloaf... what happened? Quote
