dj4celine Posted May 17, 2008 at 02:59 AM Posted May 17, 2008 at 02:59 AM OK... one of my friends in Delhi watched it and he was disapointed with the movie It didn't have anything special to offer and he has no idea how and why in the world did the White Witch make an appearance cos she is in no way mentioned in the book Mirza was pathetic in the movie and did nothing to invoke fear and anticipation He also said that he'd go and watch the first movie if given the choice between the two I'm really feeling cos he's a Narnia addict and as per him, the movie was just ok Ugh! only one more week Quote

dj4celine Posted May 17, 2008 at 03:13 AM Posted May 17, 2008 at 03:13 AM yeah... and the battle scene takes the longest times Besides, Ben Barnes doesn't seem to deliver much (but I'd watch him any day ) Silly trivia: William Mosley is only a day older than me Quote

AllCeline Posted May 17, 2008 at 01:08 PM Author Posted May 17, 2008 at 01:08 PM (edited) OK... one of my friends in Delhi watched it and he was disapointed with the movie It didn't have anything special to offer and he has no idea how and why in the world did the White Witch make an appearance cos she is in no way mentioned in the book Mirza was pathetic in the movie and did nothing to invoke fear and anticipation He also said that he'd go and watch the first movie if given the choice between the two I'm really feeling cos he's a Narnia addict and as per him, the movie was just ok Ugh! only one more week You didn't like it!? I went to see it last night with my sister and it was totally awesome, in my opinion! I don't know if this'll spoil it in any way for other movie-goers, so please be advised. It's just my quick review SPOILER! --Click here to view-- | --Cliquez ici pour voir--Yes, the White Witch wasn't in the second book but I like it's a nice little bonus. It helped greatly with building the characters. We all know what's Peter's like, but including the incident with the White Witch helped convey his frustration and evident lost of hope at that point in time. It also showed major maturity in Edmund's character as he was the one who basically "destroyed" the option of relying on the White Which; it also shows that although he's still younger than his brother, he's gotten to a point where he's capable of making just decisions. Also, keep in mind that the simplest event in a book can captivate the reader, construct characters, and move the storyline along with the use of metaphoric language and other rhetorical strategies. Movies don't have that advantage, so there there needs to be something which will accomplish these goals visually, while captivating the audience--a movie can never be exactly like its book. The film as an entirety was also very nicely constructed. The cinematography was great and a lot of it was more grungy and dark. If you were expecting something like the LWW, then I can see where you can feel disappointed. But keep in mind that the storyline in 1300 Narnian years later, and much of the land has somewhat, "lost" or "forgotten" its magic. Many creatures are subsequently a lot like earthly creatures which changes the tone of the film a great deal, as it should. The battle between Peter and Miraz was definitely epic and the angles were amazing. I was literally dragged into the screen--it was that amazing! Even though I read the book prior to the film, I still had a sense of insecurity and uncertainty of how it would ultimately end, which in my opinion, is a good thing. And of course, I loved the soundtrack and I appreciate how Harry Gregson-Williams brought some of the musical themes from the first film and slightly altered them in this one, along with the newly composed pieces. It brought me back to feelings I had when watching the first film, just at the right moment. And the new pieced also fit the film perfectly, (I especially liked the violin-heavy track during the battle at Miraz's castle). Although, I've gotta say I was kinda disappointed when I realized that Switchfoot's song for the soundtrack, "This Is Home" was going to be so far into the end credits. But Regina Spektor did an incredible job at closing the film. stevethefan Posted May 18, 2008 at 02:35 AM Posted May 18, 2008 at 02:35 AM From what I've read today it did not do as well as they thought at the box office in the US, although that has nothing to do with whether or not it's a good movie or not. I'm sure it will do very well when it goes to DVD. Quote
Koolan Posted May 18, 2008 at 07:44 AM Posted May 18, 2008 at 07:44 AM I had a chance to watch it yesterday but passed due to some not very good reviews. Quote Please support the forum by ordering through our Amazon.com referral link below. Click here to go to the Amazon homepage.
KimboCosmo Posted May 18, 2008 at 07:45 AM Posted May 18, 2008 at 07:45 AM OMG!!! I just got home from seeing it! I LOVEDDDDDDD IT! I still like the first one better, but this one was amazing too! It's not really set for children, like the first one was...there isn't anything bad in it for them, but I think it takes an adult mind to understand a lot of what is going on. I freakin' loved it, and I really hope and can't wait for the next one. http://i254.photobucket.com/albums/hh83/chuckysmailbox/18873754.jpg Quote http://img143.imageshack.us/img143/2765/48940711.png "You know you're in love when you can't fall asleep, because reality is finally better than your dreams." It's already #1 in the Indian Box Office and got 4 stars out of 5 from the Box Office review. These 5 days are gonna be killers Quote
